Chapter 12: Invitation Accepted

“This is my advice, ignore the invitation,” Andrew folds the piece of the paper back into its envelope, “Alpha Knight is currently the most powerful wolf in the Central Meadows. Believe me, there is no way he is inviting you for good.”

“I do not understand, what is really the hype about him? He is just another werewolf with fangs and furs. I don’t see anything special about him.”

“That is right, because there is nothing special about him, it is okay to ignore this invitation,” Andrew is breathless at the thought of going to the Alpha’s mansion. 

“Give the fucking letter,” I snatch it from him and walked out from him, heading to my office. It is not everyday that I get to see Andrew scared. But I couldn’t understand why the Alpha sent me an invite. I’m about to leave this life behind me but I can’t help the fact that since I came to this city, I have been feeling uneasy for no fucking reason. 

And just hearing the name of this man makes me scared to my bones. A hunter meeting with his prey is like water and fire. I think I should listen to Andrew and ignore this invitation or tell my father about it. Or maybe I should inquire more from somebody that will know about him for sure, my mother.

I immediately used the telephone beside me to call her and she picked up on the last ring, “Big baby.”

“What the fuck is this name, mom,” I rub my forehead embarrassingly, “I would like to talk to you about something.”

“Did you find a wife?” When are you bringing him or her?”

“No mom, it’s none of that. I’m just about to focus on my life when an invite came to me. And I want to know everything you know about Alpha Knight.”

“Why do you ask about him?”

“I have a meeting with him tomorrow.”

My mother is silent for a bit before she says, “You need to be careful. I heard he recently merged with the People’s pack so it’s natural that you appeared in his radar. Your father has spent a lot of money trying to gather news on Alpha Knight and his pack but it has been futile. I’m shocked he just handed you an invite, although he won’t openly kill you but you can’t take chances. I think I should inform your father about this.”

“No mom, this is between us. I needed solutions not to give an opportunity for you and father to kill.”

“Seth dear, we are supernatural hunters. It is our job and responsibility to protect humans. You can’t run away from your family bloodline, this is who we are and Alpha Knight is a dangerous person. He is so young but possesses riches beyond numbers, he is the leader and father of all werewolves in Central Meadows. He is also very ambitious and he is a threat to the government. We know he is fighting the government but he is keeping the facade of mutuality.”

“I hate him,” I concluded.

She laughs softly, “I also heard he is handsome too.”

“Mother, stop that! What do you think I should do?”

“I think you should go, who knows what you might benefit from this meeting.”

“I’m only accepting to meet him because everyone is bussing about him as if he is some God. And I’m also concerned about his mate’s, I thought Omegas are rare.”

“There are so many things you don’t know. Alpha is powerful enough to own such a rarity, there is nothing surprising.”

“Whatever mom, I’m hanging up.”

“Okay, don’t forget to keep your head up. If you can gather some new information, we will be sure to wipe them all out at once.”

I let out a tired sigh as I placed the telephone back on its hold. I leaned back on the chair resting my eyes but I couldn’t bring myself to rest, I headed downstairs fixing myself a cup of mint tea. When I turned around Andrew was standing shirtless in front of me. I couldn’t help but eye his body, his fine abs. I could tell he was seducing me as usual.

“How about you put some clothes on?”

“Don’t you like what you see?”

I looked away as our eyes locked together, “No, put some clothes on.”

I turn around and put the tea cup on the counter, ignoring the blush on my face. I’m too frozen to say anything when Andrew comes behind me, wrapping his hands around my waist. He pressed tiny kisses on the nape of my neck, embracing me warmly.

“We shouldn’t be doing this, Andrew.”

“I know, it has never been wrong to do so.”

I step away from him, “Make preparations to leave for the Southeast tomorrow.”

"You accepted the invitation?"

"We will send out scouts ahead of time. l guess you have your job back to protect me again, are you happy?”

"Does this mean you are back in the field? I mean you aren’t abandoning hunting and… me?”

“No, I just want to meet the almighty Alpha Knight.”

“Okay, I will make the preparations. Since that is settled, how about you take care of this for me,” He points at the erection, expanding his front trouser.

“Suit yourself,” I waved my hand as I sip my tea with the other. On a normal day maybe I would accept the offer that my head is filled with the occasion ahead. That is why the next day I get ready as I in my regular all black attire and I was about to drive out when two private cars drove into my yard.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr Seth. I’m Adrian, Alpha Knight beta. I’m here to pick you up, rather, escort you.”

“Your Alpha is indeed very thoughtful but we will go by our car,” Andrew argues but I raised my fingers and stopped him. I give Adrian a polite smile, walking into the luxurious Beetle Convertible with a first class design.

I sat in the backseat, shutting my eyes as I rested.

“I do not think this is a good idea, Seth. What if we are walking into a trap?”

“Alpha Knight is surely not a fool to send his dogs to pick me up in daylight to hold me hostage or kill me. There are so many eyes watching, pay more attention, Andrew."

"I swear this is bad news, I don’t feel okay about this. I don’t know why you’re keeping calm about all of this. I’m serious.”

“Just go with the flow of things.”
