Who am I

A girl felt as if her hands were touching her body, the atmosphere was so cold, that her hands felt dry and stiff. Even opening her eyes was difficult, but she persevered, seeing blurry faces and dazzling white light.

She furrowed her brow, squinting due to the light.

"Doctor, she's awake!" A woman's enthusiastic voice sounded, making her glance in that direction.

"Is it true?"

"Yes, she's awake, she's safe, she's alive!"

"Let me examine her."

The doctor and nurse looked at her eagerly.

'Who are they? Their clothes are clean and uniform. They wear nose and mouth covers, and why is their hair covered?' she wondered.

The doctor quickly examined her with a stethoscope on her chest.

She remained silent, seemingly confused, then looked down, realizing she wore a blue shirt with medical equipment attached to her chest.

'What is this? What's attached to my chest? Like a string, but it looks clean? What is the string doing on my chest?' she wondered, finding it difficult to speak; her throat was dry, and she couldn't move yet.

"Let me check your eyes," the doctor said, suddenly opening her right eye and bringing a small flashlight closer.

She immediately turned her face, as if disliking the flashlight's light.

"Oh, sorry..." The doctor moved the flashlight away. "Now I need to check your mouth. Please, open your mouth." He requested gently.

Slowly, she opened her mouth, and the doctor examined it with the flashlight.

'What's this? Why does he want to look inside my mouth? Did something happen because I drank that strange water from Viviane?'

"Amazing; she's perfectly normal," the doctor exclaimed, standing back, and looking at her with amazement. "I've never experienced anything like this... She was critical, her heart wasn't beating, but now she's completely normal," he continued.

"I think it's a miracle, God is merciful," said the nurse standing on the right side of the bed. "But I think she's weak... Miss Stacy, how do you feel now?" She asked, looking at the girl who had a bandage on her head.

The girl remained silent, as if unsure whom she was talking to.

"I think she's still in shock," said the doctor, continuing to observe her. "Jacqueline, you should call her family. Let them know this good news," he said, turning to the nurse.

Suddenly, the girl widened her eyes, somehow finding the strength to raise her hand.

"No!" she exclaimed, instantly falling silent and holding her throat. 'What is this? Since when is my voice so soft... This is too soft,' she thought in surprise.

"Miss Stacy," the doctor frowned. "Why don't you want your family to know? They've been worried about you since earlier... Maybe you've forgotten what happened. You've just had a car accident... That's why you're here..."

"Car accident?" She looked even more confused. 'What does he mean by a car? What kind of object is that?'

"I think she has memory issues," the nurse said.

"In that case, we should examine her head later... but most importantly, you should inform her family about her condition so they won't worry," the man said.

"Please don't!" The girl shook her head. "Please don't tell my father I'm here; I don't want him to take me to Prince Antonio!"

The doctor furrowed his brow. 'It seems she's having memory problems,' he thought.

"I beg you!" The girl pleaded.

The doctor turned to the nurse. "Tell them..."

The nurse nodded and promptly left.

The girl sighed heavily, as if annoyed, and looked around the blue and white room filled with medical equipment.

'What kind of room is this, so strange, clean, with many things I don't know the names of. Even the one near my head makes a sound every second,' she thought, glancing at the heart rate monitor.

'Does this mean I'm in the new world? Is this what Dominic meant by a world full of advancements and everything becoming easier?'

She could only remain silent in confusion, not knowing what to do.

'Where should I look for Dominic? Where can I find something that displays his picture after writing his name?'

"Gwyneth!"

The door opened along with the voice of a man diverting her attention. She turned and found a handsome man in a black suit approaching her with enthusiasm.

"Oh, darling!"

The man bowed, looking at her with sadness, his face so close she could even smell his fragrant scent. She continued staring into him slowly reddening blue eyes, as if about to cry, and in an instant, he held her hand.

"Darling, I was so afraid! I shouldn't have asked you to pick me up at the airport. I shouldn't have let you drive alone!" he said, visibly upset, and tears began to fall. "I hope you forgive me after what happened... Never leave me!"

The girl was just stunned, as if unsure what to say.

'How can I search for Dominic with this weak body? And it seems this man is related to my new body,' she thought.

"She's still in shock, and I think she also has memory problems," said the doctor, so the handsome man stood up and faced him.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Perhaps hallucinations or even lost memory," the doctor replied.

The handsome man immediately approached the girl again with wide eyes and rested his right hand next to her shoulder.

"Don't you remember me?" He asked.

The girl shook her head.

"I'm Axel... Axel Maximilian Geraldton," the man said, holding his chest. "I'm your fiancé. We've been together for two years... and we're about to get married, loving each other," he continued gently but firmly.

The girl looked visibly anxious, almost panicked, but her lips seemed unable to speak. 'How can this happen? He claims to be my fiancé... It means I can't go back to Dominic with this body because this man is its love. What if the owner of this body is dead? Viviane said I would only enter a newly dead body!' she screamed in her mind.

"Gwyneth, it's okay if you don't remember me. I'll help you recall our sweet memories and everything... I promise!" Axel held the girl's hand again, kissing her with his cold lips. "I love you so much... I'm glad you're alive. It's better than anything!" He smiled, slowly approaching her face, and kissed her lips.

The girl just remained silent, as if resigned, but in her heart, she said, 'I feel like betraying Dominic now, but this man also has the right to this girl's body.'

"Axel..."

Suddenly, a man with a thin mustache and slightly long curly hair entered.

Axel immediately stood facing the man, while the nurse and doctor had already left the room.

"Peter," Axel greeted.

"I've asked the police to investigate the cause of the accident," the man named Peter said.

Axel nodded. "You have to do that... I can't handle this case alone because I need to focus on it. She might be suffering from amnesia; I need to help her regain her memory," he said, occasionally glancing at the girl.

"Don't worry, Brenda and my mother can help you."

"No, I can't..." Axel immediately shook his head. "I don't trust your mother... She once deliberately pushed her down the stairs..."

"Okay... do whatever you think is right..." Peter said resignedly, then looked at the girl. "Neither my mother nor I ever did anything bad to her. We took care of her well, but she's careless... Just a spoiled girl! I'm sure her father will punish me after this!"
