I couldn't tell Grannie Alba that Alpha Romano was a cruel, dangerous man who probably led the mafia group that attacked Open Creek.

The thought of the consequences of my action held my tongue.

Granie Alba stayed in my room after she was discharged. I wasn't going to let her out of my sight again.

While she recovered, I stayed in my room, making it easy to avoid Alpha Romano, until one evening, when we crossed paths.

“How is she?” He asked curtly.

“A lot better, thank you. We expect a full recovery soon.”

He nodded. “That's good.”

I stood awkwardly, shifting in my position. I believed he had a soldier stay with Grannie Alba because of his ulterior motives. For that reason, I didn't think I needed to thank him.

“I’ll just go. Thank you,” I said, making an effort to sidestep him.

I had asked Trevor to watch while I took a quick walk to the garden. Much to my surprise, it looked well pruned and taken care of. The plants had grown bigger, and I could see streaks of colour around the littl

Enzo's POV Dante had been the mitigator. I, on the other hand, was still seething from the near fight with Silas. He had apologised and was sitting with his tail between his legs. The room was heavy with silence as we all sat quietly. I took deep breaths to calm myself before speaking again. “Selene is my mate and it is my duty to ensure that she's safe. You do not need to remind me of that,” I said, and Silas nodded.“Now,” I continued, rising to my feet. “Let's go see Madame G, she can help,” I said, leading the way out the door.Madame Gianna, fondly known as Madame G was a witch who found residence in Romano Crest. She was sneaky and cunning, but also a very powerful seer. Her small home in the forest was as uncomfortable as one would guess. We stood awkwardly with our backs hunched so our heads wouldn't touch the roof. “What a pleasant surprise, Alpha,” She said with a crooked smile.“Long time no see, Madam G. I hope all is well?” I responded with a charming smile of my own.

  • The Prophecy of Fated Mates    It's Makayla

A loud sound emanated through the room, jerking me awake. It sounded like a growl and a scream combined. The blinding lights caused me to shut my eyes immediately. “Gio…Giovanni?” I called out softly, cracking one eye open before the other. My vision was blurry. I felt heavy, and there was a sharp pain on my side.“Selene, help,” I heard his exasperated voice call out, and I jerked up actively. I wasn’t on a bed anymore, but a reclining chair like Giovanni’s. I noticed a tube ran from a nearby stand to my arm, draining blood out of me, and I gasped.“What's going on?” I called out to the empty room. “Get this thing off me,” I yelled as I thrashed. My movements only increased the flow of blood through the tube, and I stopped.Unbelievable. I was going to die from getting my blood drained. It was worse than any torture Alpha Romano could have given me.“Please, Dr Sofia. I know you can hear me. I'll give you anything you want, please, just let us go,” I begged, as tears welled up i

  • The Prophecy of Fated Mates    Wolfsbane

Enzo's POV“She's probably in the garden or with Maria, Isabella, or she even fell asleep somewhere doing something silly,” I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “I don't have time to babysit, Silas.”Silas scowled visibly. “It’s been hours since anyone has seen her. Trevor checked the pack grounds already. She's not there.”“I don't know what more you want from me. I am swamped with work, and this should be the least of my worries.”“Enzo!” He said in a defeated voice.“I'm coming to you as your friend, not your beta. Your mate might be missing, and the more time we spend without taking action, the more likely it is that she'll be harmed.”I pursed my lips, giving his words a thought, then held my hands up in defeat. “Fine, give it a few more hours, and if she doesn't turn up, have some men track her scent,” I instructed.“No harm if we do that now. Thank you, Alpha,” he rose to his feet and walked out. After he left, I wondered if she had finally had enough and attempted to run

  • The Prophecy of Fated Mates    Captured

A voice whispering my name pulled me out of my deep slumber. I was immediately met with complete pitch darkness when I opened my eyes.“What the hell?” I whispered to myself.Whatever had made me pass out in the first place was still making me feel groggy.“Selene? Can you hear me?” The same voice asked, still whispering.I extended my hand so I could rub away whatever was blocking my vision, but I was met with resistance. I tried again and heard a clinking sound.“Be careful, it's made of pure silver,” the voice said just as I pulled even harder and felt the chain dig into my flesh, burning me and forcing a cry out of my throat.“Giovanni?” I called out into the darkness as the recent activities started coming back to me.“Yes, I'm here. How do you feel? Are you hurt?” he asked.I tried to move my body, but it appeared I was strapped to something.“My wrist feels a bit sore, but that's about it. I think I'm okay.”He sighed in relief.“I'm strapped down to a bed, I think. Can you mov

  • The Prophecy of Fated Mates    The voice behind the door

Enzo's POVIt had been a hectic couple of weeks in Ombra Nera. We had new recruits who had recently joined the group but were reckless, overly excited, and had landed themselves in trouble with Don Carmelo's mafia. Now, I was back to giving my complete focus to my pack. We were in the process of expanding territory, and I needed complete focus.A knock sounded on my door, and I frowned. I wasn't expecting anyone.I ignored it, expecting them to leave after a while. Much to my surprise, the door cracked open and a head peeked inside.I raised a brow at the intrusion.“Sorry, the door was open,” Lisa's whiny voice said, and she giggled, entering my office.“You know better than to barge in here,” I said, my tone ice-cold.Lisa was one of those women who didn't understand what it meant to no longer be wanted. She was a fuck buddy for a while and wanted more, specifically, she wanted to be Luna.“What do you want, Lisa?” I asked with a sigh, already feeling a headache spreading across my

  • The Prophecy of Fated Mates    Strange Exhibits

A flower bloomed…. because of me.Wait, I'll rephrase that.I touched a flower bud, and it fully bloomed three days later. All of the flower buds remained in their previous states as buds, except that one.I had to cancel the training with Maria so I could stumble back into my room to think about what I had seen. The whole thing sounded bizarre even to me.There was no logical reasoning to explain how an immature flower bud bloomed into a flower in three days while the rest of the garden was still budding. And this happened only after I touched that one. I figured it was connected to the strange occurrences that happened with the lightbulbs and the lamp in my room weeks before.I didn't know what was happening to me.The only other person who knew about it at that time was Trevor, and I didn't think having a heart-to-heart with my personal guard was really the way to go.“What is happening to me, Makayla?” I asked in a whisper while I sat in the bathtub.I needed some explanation, any
