Odessa POV

“Oh, honey, those pictures are everywhere,” Mom said.

“You’ve seen them?” My eyes widened in alarm.

She lifted her shoulders. “Who hasn’t?”

I ran a hand over my face. I was mad at him and the situation, but what if he was sort of innocent? It didn’t matter because the whole pack knew about it.

How would I live in this town?

“Mom, I don’t want to talk about this. How’s Barnette?”

She sighed. “Oh, honey, I don’t know. Those doctors just tell you what you want to hear. It’s been weeks. What kind of a coma is this?”

I rubbed her hand. “I’m sorry. Were you going to the hospital before I showed up?”

She nodded. “Sienna was coming with me, but that guy showed up and they went into her room.”

“Guy?”

“Yeah… Brandon’s son,” she said, avoiding my gaze at the mention of her ex-lover’s name.

“Oh…” That must be serious. “I should head back to work if I want to keep my job. I can’t rely on being Luna, that’s for sure.”

Mom’s phone rang on the counter. “Oh, it’s the hospital.”
