Chapter 2

Author: Snail
I didn’t know if she did it on purpose, but whenever Harry gave me something, Chloe always showed great interest. She would cling, pout, and wheedle until she got her way, and I never argued. Whatever she wanted, I gave her, including Harry himself.

In the end, I decided not to keep anything. I only packed a few changes of clothes and daily necessities before leaving what used to be my room, but now was hers.

As I walked past Chloe, she suddenly reached out and pulled a moonstone pendant from my pocket.

“No! Not that one!” My face went pale, and I lunged to take it back.

I could give her anything, but not that. It was the only keepsake my mother left me, and I treasured it deeply. Normally, I kept it safely tucked away in a small jewelry box, but today, in my rush, I had slipped it into my pocket instead.

Chloe let out a small cry, clutching her stomach as if she might fall.

“Careful!”

Harry shoved past me, striding straight toward Chloe to catch her.

I hadn’t expected it, and the impact sent me crashing into the sharp corner of the vanity table.

Harry didn’t even notice. His eyes stayed fixed on Chloe’s stomach as he said with a trace of concern, “The doctor said your pregnancy isn’t stable. You need rest. Don’t move around so much.”

Ignoring the searing pain in my back, my gaze locked onto the pendant in her hand.

My voice trembled as I said, “Ms. Finley, that’s my mother’s keepsake. Please, give it back to me.”

Only then did Harry glance at what Chloe was holding. His brow furrowed.

“If you like pendants, I’ll buy you a better one at the auction. This one’s too ugly. Give it back to her.”

Chloe pouted, hesitating for a long while before finally sighing. “Fine.”

She held the pendant loosely between two fingers and extended it toward me.

“Here. I don’t want it anymore.”

My heart leapt to my throat, and I carefully reached out to take it. However, just as my fingers brushed it, Chloe let go.

The pendant slipped past my hand and fell straight to the ground. With a sharp crack, it shattered into two.

I froze in place, my mind going blank.

Chloe feigned surprise, covering her mouth. “Oh no! I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize you weren’t holding it properly.”

Then, she tugged at Harry’s sleeve, tears sliding silently down her face.

“What should I do? Lianne must hate me now. I swear, I didn’t mean it…”

I said nothing. I just stared at the broken pendant on the floor, my eyes hollow and full of despair.

Harry pressed his lips together and bent down to pick up the fragments. No matter how carefully he pieced them together, they wouldn’t fit.

He sighed softly. “This was Chloe’s fault. I’ll find the best jeweler and have them make an identical one for you. Can you forgive her?”

Just as I was about to respond, the wolf at his side yawned, and I heard him say, “Do you even remember what that pendant originally looked like? No? Then how are you going to make an identical one? You liar! Haha, you’ll just find something similar and hand it over, right? And she won’t even know the difference. After all, don’t all pendants look the same?”

I fell silent, swallowing down the urge to cry.

“It’s fine. Just throw it away. I don’t want it anymore.”

Of course, I could recognize it. Every crack and every mark on that pendant was etched clearly in my memory. However, once something was broken, it could never be restored to what it was, no matter how hard he tried. Even if he remade it to look exactly the same, it wouldn’t carry the same meaning, just like my feelings for Harry.

Since they couldn’t go back to how they used to be, I might as well let it all go.

His eyes were bloodshot, like a man on the edge of madness.“I’ve searched for you for four years. Four years! I took revenge on everyone who ever hurt you. I thought about you every single day, and yet you’ve forgotten me?”Frightened, I hid behind Wesley.Suddenly, two children rushed out from backstage. They clung to my legs, glaring at Harry with fiery eyes.“You bad man! Don’t you dare hurt our mom!”Harry froze. His gaze locked onto the children who looked so much like him.“These… Are these my kids? Lianne, when you left, you were pregnant with my children?”His fingers trembled as he reached out, wanting to touch their faces, but at the last second, he pulled back. In a hoarse voice, he whispered, “Kids… I’m your real father.”Wesley immediately shielded me and the kids behind him, his expression colder than ice.“You think you deserve to be Lianne’s mate? To be their father? Do you know? If I hadn’t arrived in time five years ago, all three of them would have been d

Wesley was drawn to my resilient nature. The day of the airport riot, I was indeed standing at the entrance, just about to board my flight, when a pack of rogue wolves burst inside and attacked everyone without distinction. Screams and frantic footsteps filled my ears. I dropped down fast, hiding under the check-in counter, too afraid to breathe.Just five meters away, a girl about my age was mauled by several wolves and collapsed in a pool of blood right before my eyes. When the wolves finally left, she crawled a few steps in my direction. Sobbing, I rushed to her side and took her hand. Her eyes were already unfocused, her lips trembling as she whispered, “I’m cold…”I slipped off my jacket and gently draped it over her body. I stayed there, holding her, until the light faded from her eyes. Only then did I run desperately toward the exit.Alas, my luck didn’t hold. Before I could reach the doors, three wolves spotted me. They surrounded me from different angles, their eyes gleaming with hunger and malice.I ran wit

Harry couldn’t believe I had left. His mind was in a daze, and deep down, he refused to accept it.Why would I just leave for no reason? Unless…His heart skipped a beat as he suddenly remembered the butler’s strange behavior.Harry quickly called his second-in-command. “Check the butler’s recent movements. Report back to me immediately.”When he saw the report, anger and disappointment clouded his face. He turned to the butler and demanded, “You’ve been with me for over ten years. Why would you let yourself be bought off so easily by Chloe?”It turned out Chloe had bribed the butler long ago, ordering him to keep watch over me.The moment I left the estate today, Chloe was informed right away. She was secretly delighted and even instructed the butler not to let Harry know until after the bonding ceremony was complete. However, no matter how careful her plan was, she hadn’t counted on me being attacked at the airport or that Harry would find out anyway, exposing the butler in

Chloe’s eyes lit up with hope as she looked at Harry.“Harry, our packs are deeply connected. Can you really bear to destroy such a strong bond? My dad only has one daughter—me, and he’s always loved me. If you walk away in the middle of the bonding ceremony, he’ll be furious! Is offending him over something so small really worth it?”Harry paused for just a moment. Then, he kept walking, his steps steady, not a trace of hesitation.“I’m sorry. My mate’s life is no small matter. Once I find her, I’ll come back and apologize to your father myself.”His pace quickened until he was running full speed toward the airport. There was only one thought in his mind—he had to find me.By then, the battle at the airport had reached its peak. The patrol units were driving the rogue wolf pack out with overwhelming force.Harry’s second-in-command spotted him rushing over and tried to give a report, but Harry cut him off in agitation.“Where is she? “What did you just say?”Harry suddenly sat bolt upright, his face darker than ever before.Inside his head, the wolf within him was howling restlessly. “What? What did you say? Lianne’s dead? That can’t be right. Why would she be at the airport? She’s supposed to be at home.”Slowly, his lost sense of reason returned. He tried to comfort himself. “That’s right. Lianne has been at home. There’s no way she’d show up at the airport.”With trembling hands, he dialed the number of the butler at his estate.“Is my wife at home? Put her on the phone now!” He didn’t even notice how much his voice was shaking. After a long silence, the butler finally replied on the other end of the line.“Madam is in her room. She’s already asleep.”Harry let out a breath of relief, his expression easing as he muttered, “I knew it. There’s no way she’d leave. She would never go to the airport.”Chloe had been watching Harry closely. When she saw the tension leave his face, her lips curved into a faint
