Chapter 1

When Harry Tarrington brought Chloe Finley home, he only said one thing to me.

“Chloe just came back and doesn’t have a place to stay. I told her she could stay here for a few days.”

I froze for a moment. Although it was supposed to be temporary, this was the first time Harry had ever brought a friend home, and it was a woman.

Just as I was about to speak, I suddenly heard the confused voice of his wolf in my head.

“Harry, why are you lying to Lianne? You clearly plan for Chloe to live here long-term. And earlier outside, those wolves called Chloe your Luna. Why didn’t you deny it?”

I didn’t know what Harry said back to him, but the wolf suddenly let out a sharp cry.

“What about the bonding ceremony in three days? Weren’t you planning to propose to Lianne? Why is it Chloe now?”

As if lightning had struck me, my body went stiff, my mind blank.

Even though I was just an Omega without a wolf, I had a secret—I could hear the voice of Harry’s wolf and had never told anyone about it before. With that ability, I had always gotten along well with Harry, who was usually so silent and reserved.

His wolf was lively and talkative. Through its conversations with Harry, I learned what he liked, what he wanted, and how he truly felt. It was from his wolf that I learned Harry loved me. He had even secretly prepared a grand bonding ceremony.

I had overheard every detail of the proposal, the date, and the surprise. However, I pretended to know nothing, keeping the joy inside me, waiting patiently for that day to come.

Now, his wolf was saying that the ceremony in three days wasn’t meant for me anymore?

I steadied myself, forcing my voice not to tremble, and carefully asked, “If it’s just a few days, should I prepare a guest room for her?”

Harry went silent for two long seconds before speaking. “Chloe is pregnant. She can’t stay in a poor room. Your room has the best light and ventilation in this estate. You should move out and let Chloe stay there for now.”

Chloe clutched her belly, her eyes red as she peeked out from behind him, looking pitiful as if she had just been crying.

“Lianne, my mate just passed away. Harry only brought me here out of pity. Please don’t misunderstand.”

I said nothing because Harry’s wolf was howling furiously.

“Since when did Chloe have a mate? Hasn’t she always been single? Harry, what exactly did you do while I was sealed away for a month? That child in her belly isn’t yours, is it?”

My knees buckled, and I barely managed to steady myself by clutching a chair. Almost instinctively, my hand went to my own stomach.

This morning, when I’d felt unwell and gone to the hospital, the doctor had smiled and told me I was pregnant with twins—a boy and a girl.

I had planned to keep it a secret until the bonding ceremony, when Harry officially claimed me as his mate, but now, it seemed there was no need anymore.

I lowered my head as tears blurred my vision.

“It’s fine. I’ll pack my things now. From today on, you can stay in my room.”

Chloe followed me into the bedroom. She touched one thing and glanced at another, her face full of envy.

“These decorations are so beautiful. I just love them.”

I forced a small smile. Every one of those items had been gifts from Harry. I had treasured them all, never letting anyone else touch them.

I was about to collect them when Harry’s voice came from behind me.

“Lianne, don’t bother packing those away. Leave them here for Chloe to enjoy for a while.”

My hand froze in midair, and in my ears came the mocking laughter of his wolf.

“So soon? You’re already giving gifts meant for your old lover to please your new one? Aren’t you afraid Lianne will be angry?”

I shut my eyes tight as tears slid down my cheeks.

“Alright. If Chloe likes them, she can have them. They’re hers now.”

If he wanted to give them away, I didn’t want them anymore.

His eyes were bloodshot, like a man on the edge of madness.“I’ve searched for you for four years. Four years! I took revenge on everyone who ever hurt you. I thought about you every single day, and yet you’ve forgotten me?”Frightened, I hid behind Wesley.Suddenly, two children rushed out from backstage. They clung to my legs, glaring at Harry with fiery eyes.“You bad man! Don’t you dare hurt our mom!”Harry froze. His gaze locked onto the children who looked so much like him.“These… Are these my kids? Lianne, when you left, you were pregnant with my children?”His fingers trembled as he reached out, wanting to touch their faces, but at the last second, he pulled back. In a hoarse voice, he whispered, “Kids… I’m your real father.”Wesley immediately shielded me and the kids behind him, his expression colder than ice.“You think you deserve to be Lianne’s mate? To be their father? Do you know? If I hadn’t arrived in time five years ago, all three of them would have been d

The day of the airport riot, I was indeed standing at the entrance, just about to board my flight, when a pack of rogue wolves burst inside and attacked everyone without distinction. Screams and frantic footsteps filled my ears. I dropped down fast, hiding under the check-in counter, too afraid to breathe.Just five meters away, a girl about my age was mauled by several wolves and collapsed in a pool of blood right before my eyes. When the wolves finally left, she crawled a few steps in my direction. Sobbing, I rushed to her side and took her hand. Her eyes were already unfocused, her lips trembling as she whispered, “I’m cold…”I slipped off my jacket and gently draped it over her body. I stayed there, holding her, until the light faded from her eyes. Only then did I run desperately toward the exit.Alas, my luck didn’t hold. Before I could reach the doors, three wolves spotted me. They surrounded me from different angles, their eyes gleaming with hunger and malice.I ran wit

Harry couldn’t believe I had left. His mind was in a daze, and deep down, he refused to accept it.Why would I just leave for no reason? Unless…His heart skipped a beat as he suddenly remembered the butler’s strange behavior.Harry quickly called his second-in-command. “Check the butler’s recent movements. Report back to me immediately.”When he saw the report, anger and disappointment clouded his face. He turned to the butler and demanded, “You’ve been with me for over ten years. Why would you let yourself be bought off so easily by Chloe?”It turned out Chloe had bribed the butler long ago, ordering him to keep watch over me.The moment I left the estate today, Chloe was informed right away. She was secretly delighted and even instructed the butler not to let Harry know until after the bonding ceremony was complete. However, no matter how careful her plan was, she hadn’t counted on me being attacked at the airport or that Harry would find out anyway, exposing the butler in

Chloe’s eyes lit up with hope as she looked at Harry.“Harry, our packs are deeply connected. Can you really bear to destroy such a strong bond? My dad only has one daughter—me, and he’s always loved me. If you walk away in the middle of the bonding ceremony, he’ll be furious! Is offending him over something so small really worth it?”Harry paused for just a moment. Then, he kept walking, his steps steady, not a trace of hesitation.“I’m sorry. My mate’s life is no small matter. Once I find her, I’ll come back and apologize to your father myself.”His pace quickened until he was running full speed toward the airport. There was only one thought in his mind—he had to find me.By then, the battle at the airport had reached its peak. The patrol units were driving the rogue wolf pack out with overwhelming force.Harry’s second-in-command spotted him rushing over and tried to give a report, but Harry cut him off in agitation.“Where is she? “What did you just say?”Harry suddenly sat bolt upright, his face darker than ever before.Inside his head, the wolf within him was howling restlessly. “What? What did you say? Lianne’s dead? That can’t be right. Why would she be at the airport? She’s supposed to be at home.”Slowly, his lost sense of reason returned. He tried to comfort himself. “That’s right. Lianne has been at home. There’s no way she’d show up at the airport.”With trembling hands, he dialed the number of the butler at his estate.“Is my wife at home? Put her on the phone now!” He didn’t even notice how much his voice was shaking. After a long silence, the butler finally replied on the other end of the line.“Madam is in her room. She’s already asleep.”Harry let out a breath of relief, his expression easing as he muttered, “I knew it. There’s no way she’d leave. She would never go to the airport.”Chloe had been watching Harry closely. When she saw the tension leave his face, her lips curved into a faint
