Chapter 7

It was about 6:45pm when Haven knocked on my door. I set my book down to answer it. She grabbed my hand and we headed down to dinner. She let go of my hand right before we entered the dining hall, and I was surprised she held onto it that long.

Any of the warriors or guards could have seen, and I'm sure they would report everything to her father. She’s a daring little thing. I thought. The danger of being caught just intrigued me more.

The dining hall was beautiful. It had the same dark and dreary atmosphere as the entire castle. There were at least four huge black crystal chandeliers above us, casting an eerie glow down to the floor.

The paintings on this floor depicted the dead being risen and Necromancers using magic. If I were to guess, I’d say they were life sized paintings. But as far up on the walls as they were, I couldn’t tell their actual size.

The room was large with tables lined throughout the hall. I assumed from the size, that they all ate together, usually. T
