Chapter 30

"I'm not where I belong, I don't belong with you!" I screamed, my mark burning under my defiant words. Both of my hands were now engulfed in green flames. Raphael looked back at me as he got up off the floor. Surprise, and then hurt filled his eyes which sent a pang of guilt through me. I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings, but this guilt was, no doubt, influenced by the mark.

Honestly, I was surprised. I couldn't believe I was able to resist the marks pull. It was as if my memories were jumbled in my head. Everything else was second to the mark and my need to be close to Raphael, even when I knew I shouldn’t be.

“How... how did you do that, Rayne? How are you resisting the marks pull? That is impossible!” He stammered as he started walking back my way. “No Raphael, stay away from me.” I said with conviction. Little did he know I was absolutely shaking inside. I knew that if he came even 1 step closer that I wouldn’t be able to resist him.
