Karen and the prince exchanged a worried glance, realizing that they were in trouble.
They had been caught trying to escape, and they would have to face the consequences.
Karen and the prince exchanged a worried glance, realizing that they were in trouble.
They had been caught trying to escape, and they would have to face the consequences.
But then, out of nowhere, a figure appeared and tackled one of the guards to the ground.
Karen and the prince watched in shock as the figure revealed himself to be a werewolf, his fur bristling with anger.
"Get out of here!" the werewolf growled.
"I'll handle these fools!"
Karen and the prince didn't need to be told twice.
They turned and ran down the hallway, their hearts pounding with fear.
They could hear the sound of swords clashing behind them, and the shouts of the guards as they were overpowered by the werewolf.
As they ran, Karen couldn't help but wonder who the werewolf was and why he had helped them.
She had thought that all werewolves were loyal to the king, but this one had risked his life to save them.
They finally made it out of the palace and into the streets of the city.
Karen and the prince slowed down, panting for breath and looking around nervously.
"We have to keep moving," the prince said, his voice urgent.
"The guards will be after us soon."
Karen nodded, feeling a sense of unease wash over her.
She had no idea where they were going or what lay ahead.
All she knew was that she had taken a huge risk by coming to the palace, and now she was on the run.
As they walked down the deserted streets, Karen couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her and the prince.
They had formed an unlikely alliance, but they were up against powerful forces that would stop at nothing to keep them from achieving their goals.
For the first time in her life, Karen felt truly alive, with a sense of purpose and determination that she had never felt before.
But she knew that the road ahead would be dangerous and fraught with danger.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of hooves approaching.
Karen and the prince quickly ducked into an alleyway, hoping to avoid detection.
They could hear the sound of horses and the clanking of armor getting closer.
"Stay quiet," the prince whispered.
"We don't want to draw attention to ourselves."
Karen nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.
She could feel the sweat on her palms as she gripped her dagger tightly, ready to defend herself if necessary.
The horses drew closer, and Karen could see the gleam of torches in the darkness.
She held her breath, hoping that they wouldn't be discovered.
But then, a hand reached out and grabbed her shoulder.
Karen spun around, her dagger raised, ready to fight.
But it was only the werewolf from the palace.
"Come with me," he said.
"I know a place where we can hide."
Karen and the prince followed the werewolf down the alleyway and into a small courtyard.
There was a door at the end of the courtyard, which the werewolf opened with a key.
Inside was a small room, barely big enough for the three of them.
There was a table, a few chairs, and a bed in the corner.
"You can stay here for a while," the werewolf said.
"I'll bring you some food and water."
Karen and the prince looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
They had just met this werewolf, and they had no idea if they could trust him.
But they had no choice.
They were tired and hungry, and they needed a place to rest.
As the werewolf left to get them some food, Karen and the prince sat down at the table.
Karen couldn't help but feel grateful to the werewolf for helping them.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"And why did you help us?"
The werewolf hesitated for a moment before answering.
"My name is Lucas," he said.
"And I helped you because I believe in what you're trying to do."
Karen raised an eyebrow.
"And what are we trying to do?"
Lucas leaned forward.
"You're trying to overthrow the king," he said.
"And I want to help you."
Karen and the prince looked at each other in surprise.
They had never expected to find an ally in a werewolf.
"How can we trust you?" the prince asked.
Lucas shrugged.
"You can't," he said.
"But I'm willing to take the risk. The king has done terrible things, and someone needs to stop him."
Karen and the prince looked at each other, their hearts beating fast.
They had found an unexpected ally, but they still had a long way to go if they were going to achieve their goals.
As they settled down to rest, Karen couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them.
They had made an unlikely ally, but they were still up against powerful forces that would stop at nothing to keep them from achieving their goals.
The night was long, and Karen and the prince slept fitfully, their dreams filled with danger and uncertainty.
But they knew that they had to keep moving forward, no matter what lay ahead.
The next morning, Lucas brought them some bread and cheese, along with a map of the city.
He showed them a hidden path that would take them to the outskirts of the city, where they could find shelter with some sympathetic farmers.
Karen and the prince thanked him, knowing that they owed him their lives.
They set out on the hidden path, their hearts filled with determination.
But as they walked, Karen couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
She turned around, but there was no one there.
She shrugged it off, thinking that she was just being paranoid.
"I can't do this anymore" Karen blurted out
"Why not?" Prince Alexander
"Turns out I am not property and you don't own me anymore" Karen mocked
"I thought we had gotten past that," the prince said surprised at her outburst
"You never apologized" Karen noted
"But you agreed to go along with this" the prince added
"For the greater good only and I will continue" Karen retorted and turned her back to leave.
Chapter Eighteen: Finally, the day of the royal wedding came as the substitute brides and the subjects in the kingdom prepared for the wedding. "You all get ready, we will be leaving in no time," Karen told the ladies as she sneaked out again into the palace. This time she went to see how the tunnel she saw is connected to the palace. At this juncture, the packs getting access to the palace depend on Karen. Karen got into the underground tunnel and she found out that the tunnel was connected directly to the chamber of King Theodore. As Karen got into the palace, she tried sneaking into the King's chamber. Then she saw her sister Jamie going into the king's chamber but she was stopped by the guards. Karen was already restless because she knew Jamie was going to inform the king about the invasion of the palace by the packs. "Jamie, what are you doing here?" Karen came asking pretending out of her hiding place."Leave me alone. I do not care if you won't let me in but I am here to
Chapter Seventeen: "I have been asked by Lady Diana to look after her this period to allow her to focus on her role as a substitute bride," Davis told Paulo. "So I would not watch you harass Karen every single time you see her," Davis warned Paulo. "Yeah and I agree with that, if not for the well-being of Karen's family I would have stopped her from participating," Paulo told Davis. "And what makes you think you have a say in my life and control me on what I do with it?" Karen asked him angrily. "Because I am going to be your husband in the future, so you need to respect the decisions I make about you now," Paulo told Karen. The statement he made was annoying that it annoyed Karen more with made her yell. "You have no control over me and I will make the decisions I want for myself and by myself and I will never get married to you," Karen said as she yelled at him. "Calm down, Karen," Davis said. "You can go home now and I will handle this," Davis told as she left for her home.
Chapter Sixteen Karen knew that Jamie was to her indirectly. Jamie has always been this way so it was not a new thing to her. Karen has been quite lonely for some days now since she and her best friend Paulo had a misunderstanding. She has always kept to herself and only mingled with other people only at the substitute partners meeting. Nikki, a member of the substitute bride and Karen's childhood friend stopped by her house to say hello, but she met Jamie instead. "Hello, Jamie." She greeted her. "Hi, Nikki," Jamie answered inaudibly. "I am here to see Karen…. I was passing by the house so I decided to say hi." Nikki explained. "Oh…oh okay." Jamie stammered. "But what for?" Jamie asked her. " You know… Karen just became the leader of our group. I mean the substitute bride and I decided to visit her." Nikki explained. "Oh, I know that already. The explanations were unnecessary." Jamie told Nikki speaking to her rudely. "You can go in, she is in," Jamie told Nikki. "Thank
Chapter Fifteen: Those words came as a shock to Karen. She never thought Paulo could say something that means. Everything happening to Karen seemed like a dream because she felt every day in her life since she became a werewolf always full of surprises. "I am tired of your arrogant self. You always think can change tradition but it is here to stay." Paulo said to Karen. "Pau…Paulo." Karen said. She got tired from the conversation. "I would not watch you stand here and tell me how I need to live my life," Karen told Paulo sternly. "I, Karen will never get married to you because I have never seen you as a partner but as a friend, period," Karen told Paulo seriously. "Oh, wow!" Paulo exclaimed. "You know what, Karen?" Paulo asked her. "You have always been a selfish person from the beginning," Paulo told Karen. "I have my life on the line several times for you. Recently, I lost my dog all because I wanted to save you and I might have lost my life in the process." Paulo lamented
Chapter Fourteen: Karen and Paulo have been with their families for two weeks with the werewolf pack. It has been peaceful through out their stay, while Karen have been practicing and learning fast too. News came in from their settlement that King Theodore and his soldiers came from their palace to harass them. They created so much chaos that the settlers fled into the bush. Karen got angry as she heard of the news. She wondered why King Theodore would keep picking on her community and the entire werewolf pack. "King Theodore, await your waterloo." Karen said to herself as she trained.During these families entire stay with the packs, Diana was disappointed with how Karen's stepmother and her daughter Jamie treated Karen. Even when they tried so hard to hide their hate, Diana saw through it. "Emilia, can I see you for a minute?" Diana told Karen stepmother when she passed by their building. "Okay, my lady." Karen's stepmother answered Diana. "I noticed and sensed how you trea
Chapter Thirteen. "Wow!" Karen exclaimed as they got into the building. It looked like a large compound with so many wooden buildings in it. The houses were decorated with different colorful paintings. "Davis! This looks magnificent!" Karen told Davis as they walked in."You like it?" Davis asked her smiling. "I love it. It is so beautiful." Karen told Davis."I have never seen a place this beautiful. The aesthetic is just..just amazing." Karen said with so much excitement. "You see that house over there?" Davis asked Karen pointing at the heart of the compound. "Yeah," Karen answered him. "That is where we will meet our leader.. we need to announce our presence," Davis told curious Karen. "But..." Karen wanted to ask Davis a question. "Shh," Davis said with his forefinger across his lips. "Let us go now, we should not keep the leader and the team waiting," Davis told Karen as they hurried. "Hey, Paulo!" Davis called Paulo who was walking behind them now still angry at Kare
