Chapter Nine: Remorse

The wind blew angrily, shaking the windows and opening the curtains. Kael's heart was empty like a void.

He felt a sharp pain in his chest as he stood in his silence office, Kael's heart once a firm drum of command and audacity was now broken carelessly and weighed down by an unbearable ache. The wind howled as Titan was restless pacing in his mind.

Lyra, only her name sent a surge of pain, breaking Kael down. It had been weeks since I saw her, but she lingered in my heart never backing down. He felt tightness in his chest, and it was like he had a sinking feeling in his stomach. Kael tried to brush it off, to secrete the regrets, the remorse, and the pain, but it was impossible.

The bond though broken lingered like a nightmare haunting and merciless. The ache in his heart was fixed and hurt a lot, sizzling through Kael with every thought of Lyra.

“You see, you shouldn't have rejected Lyra.” Titan snarled accusingly.
