FAZER LOGINSéraphine's pov,
‘Why did he look angry?’. I thought to myself because that was unlike him. And just as I was about to enter the bathroom, I heard the door of my bedroom open. I halted, wondering if Daxter had returned. But, it wasn't him, but it was her. ‘Our sister is here’. Sarah said, but calling Kelly our ‘sister’, irritated me deeply. “Big sister”. Kelly said to me, smiling so brightly as she hurried to my side and gave me a hug. She was looking so happy, not having a single clue about the anger boiling through my veins. She suddenly stopped hugging me and held my hand. “Guess what, Séraphine. I have brought you good news!”. Kelly said to me, making my heart grow cold because I recognized what today was. Today was exactly the day she introduced the tonic to me. And it was exactly the day I exercised stupidity. I had actually believed her words and even rushed to beg Daxter to plead with the council not to dismiss me as his Luna. That was how foolishly in love I was with him. “What good news?”. I asked her. “You know I love you so much, right? So, I searched far and wide, and finally, I came across a gifted elderly woman. She has cured so many diseases, including helping women like you conceive children”. “By chance, I was able to acquire some tonic from her. All you have to do is drink it, and you will surely conceive a son for the Alpha. Isn't this great news?!”. As soon as she said that, scenes from my previous life played inside my mind. I remembered how I hugged her. I remembered how I teared upon hearing the news. I remembered how excited I was and spared no second in asking her to give me the tonic. I forced a smile on my face. “That's great news, Kelly”. I said to her, and sparing her no second to talk, I asked her, “I would love to meet the gifted woman. I want to personally thank her, and… I will surely make her recognized in the entire red moon pack if I eventually get pregnant”. Even though it was only for a second, I saw the fear in Kelly's eyes. She must be surprised. Well, she should be. “Em… ha”. Kelly sighed and placed her hand on her forehead, as if in defeat. She sighed again. “What is it?”. I asked her, placing a hand on her shoulder, as I decided to play along with her. “I'm not sure if I should tell you this. You… you might get mad at me”. Kelly said, with her eyes getting teary. She always did this whenever things were not going her way. “You know I would never get mad at you”. I assured her, making her smile. She wiped the tears in her eyes, before she said to me, “Actually, my Mom was the one who made the tonic”. “I am sorry that I had to lie to you. But, it was because I did not want you to give up hope. As you already know, my Mom was once our pack's doctor before she was forced to retire”. She held both my hands after sniffing. “Are you mad at me?”. She asked me, looking so pitiful. I made her stop holding my hands and softly pinched her cheek. “Like I had said, I will never get mad at you. You are my little sister. I can never endure being mad at you”. I said to her, and recalling how she immediately brought the tonic to me in my past life, that gave me an idea. It was payback time. Every humiliation I went through. How I was body-shamed. I swear… I will make her go through the exact same thing. “Where is the tonic? Can I have it?”. I asked her, looking a bit desperate. In an instant, her eyes lit up. “I will get it right away for you, Séraphine!”. Kelly said to me, before she hurried out of my room. I clenched my fists. The last time she left my room in a hurry to get the tonic for me, I thought it was because she actually cared about me. Little did I know… she was only a monster in sheep's clothing. I watched her leave until I couldn't see her back anymore. Then, my eyes darkened. The council's meeting was until evening, so I had enough time to feed her the tonic before I left Daxter's life for good and never turned back. ‘Tsk. For once, I believed you wanted to leave our mate. But one word from our sister, and you are back to thinking about bearing an heir for him’’. Sarah said to me, and she sounded so disappointed and also groaned at me. I smiled. “Just be patient and watch the show, Sarah”. I said to her. ‘What show?’. She growled in my head. But, how could I explain anything to her? If I told her that we had died but came back to life, she must think I had gone crazy. “I can't explain it to you yet, Sarah. But, I want you to know that I had a really long dream, and… it's time for you to stop seeing me as the old Séraphine of yesterday, because this new Séraphine will not let anyone bully us anymore”. “And, from now on, I would appreciate it if you stopped questioning my actions”. … Author Tina Nwuba: “Welcome to my new book, readers. I hope you get to enjoy the ride with me as I craft a new female lead you will definitely end up falling in love with. Don't forget, our female is not a fool. She is a strategist. She was simply foolish previously because she was blinded by love”.“You are wrong, Séraphine. Gabriel and Mara don't have any connection with each other. It's only awkward because Mara used to be your mother's best friend”. My heart skipped a beat upon hearing my father's reply. I clenched my jaw as he continued to say to me, “As for your uncle Gabriel… we are only close to each other because we are simply performing our usual duties”. ‘In the end, I knew I should never have trusted you’. I thought to myself and did not feel bitter. “I understand”. I said plainly, before I walked past him. “You shouldn't follow me, father. I have somewhere I have to be”. I said, because I knew if I had not said that to him, he would not have easily allowed me to go.He would have pestered me to stay. Unfortunately, after telling a white lie right to my face without showing any guilt or remorse, the last person I ever wanted to be around… was him. I left the mansion with my heart feeling lighter than ever, because in truth, I never expected much from my father.
“Séraphine! How could you do this to your own sister?!”. Mara cried out, slapping her chest with her palm. I placed two fingers on my ear after being irritated by Mara's voice. “I thought I had warned her not to address me by my name? Why wouldn't they just listen? Why must they be so stubborn and ignorant?”. I said under my breath, but made sure it was loud enough for them to hear. “Father, you should get on with the punishment. I must leave soon. I want to make sure you are not being partial after I am gone”. I said. “Mo- mom, you must help me. I have been wronged”. Kelly pleaded, tears streaming down her face, with desperation in her eyes. But she ought to know just as much that her dear mother did not have authority in the mansion as long as my father was around. “Gabriel”. My father called, causing Kelly to gasp and collapse to a sitting position on the floor. The door swung open, and a muscular man entered the dining room. I had sensed him earlier, and it tightened my ch
I continued to stare at the spoon, then at my father's face… and then, I briefly stared at Kelly and Mara. “Thank you, father”. I said and collected the spoon from him. My father smiled at me. “That's my girl”. He praised me, making me become a little regretful. If only I had always had the golden spoon with me, then I would not have died in prison. I would not have fallen for Kelly's scheme. But most importantly, I would never have fallen victim to the ‘Consuming bug’. Kelly would never have had her way. I scooped some meat stew and directed it into my mouth. Though, as much as I regret everything, I was thankful for actually learning a lesson. Because if I had not learned from my mistakes, I would have ended up committing the same error. ‘This mansion might have ungrateful people living in it, but at least, the food is delicious’. I thought to myself as I ate to my satisfaction, with a warm smile on my face. I agree… the food was indeed delicious. But, that was not mainly the
I went into my bathroom with a sigh, as I allowed the maidservants to finish up with my room's rearrangements. I returned to my human form. ‘Séraphine, what are you going to do now? After the stunt Mara had just played… after she easily shifted from being a saint to a straight-up demon, could it be that she might really be the one behind Kelly's evil personality?’. Sarah asked me, as I discarded the water in the bathtub and replaced it with another water.Only that, the replacement water was cold, compared to if it was a maidservant who changed the water for me. I sat in the bathtub, resting my arms on top of it. “There are not many changes, Sarah. I will simply deal with both of them and have them thrown out onto the streets”. I replied to Sarah, feeling my blood boil, as it flowed through my veins. I continued to say to her, “... After all, they don't deserve the luxury of living in my mansion”. …I finished bathing and came out of the bathroom in a pink bathrobe. It belonged
I let go of Kelly, and she tilted to her feet and backed away from me with a whimper. “What are you waiting for? Get out of here right now and bring back me and Mom's picture! If I find any scratch or ruin on it…!”I could not finish talking because the door to my bedroom opened up. “What is going on here?”. Mara’s panicked voice came through as she hurried into my bedroom. She hurried to Kelly's side and held onto her. “What do you think you are doing right now to your sister, Séraphine? Why must you bully your younger sister?”. Mara demanded an answer from me. I scoffed. “If you know what is better, you had better return the picture that had the faces of my mother and my younger self, Mara… because if you don't do that right now, I really don't mind turning this mansion upside-down because of it!”. I declared. “This is absurd, Séraphine. Did you attack your sister because of a single picture? Well, I kept it safe for you in our family's attic”. Mara said to me. She added, “Ju
I remained facing my Mom's gravestone, without bothering to look at Mara’s face. I believed that I might end up getting angry and doing something I might live to recall all the days of my life. “Why are you here?”. My father asked Mara. Although he had no choice but to accept Mara thanks to my Mom, he had never for once shown her any warmth. Besides that, he hated Mara entering his bedroom, while also making sure that all my mother's belongings were carefully kept without ruin. “I- I heard you had returned. That was why I came. Please, I made enough breakfast. You should wash up and come eat”. Mara offered. She had the most gentle voice ever. But, I doubt her heart was ever the same. With the way Kelly was wicked, there was no way her mother, Mara, did not know about it. What if… what if the care that Mara showed to me was all an act? What if she was way worse than Kelly? I have been wondering lately. I have known my Father for so long. I have watched his behavior deeply. I h
