It had been three days since we returned to Ordene, and everything was going just great. Kai and I were happy together, spending long nights in each other’s arms and just doing things that brought smiles to our faces. It felt good to be back, even though I missed my brother.

Fortunately, Alistair and Annalise were still locked, which was a colossal relief to me because, no matter how much safety I felt, there was a part of me that always thought something could go wrong.
