Alex's POV

Alex stood in the shower for hours. The distance of the dungeon and its gloom was scary in the day, how much more at night? The Luna had warned him about Sherlyn after saving him from his father’s wrath. Lucia was overly worrisome—she might raise another alarm. Here he was, thinking of another flight—and not just an ordinary flight, the release of a prisoner, for the sake of a banished member. An impossible venture it seemed.

He brushed his wet hair countlessly, making frequent bubbles with the streams of water flowing to the parting of his lips.

If only the maid hadn’t escaped, he wouldn’t have so much worry.
