Chapter 5

Freya's breathing was ragged as she fought the wolves before her.

They looked fierce and tough. They were rogue wolves.

While alone in the forest, she was unexpectedly attacked and was forced to change into her wolf form.

She launched her claws towards the wolves that attacked her.

Her moves were perfect, as she dodged every blow that came at her. Her attackers were not willing to back down, and at that moment, survival was what rang in her head.

She hurled at every attack that came towards her. Her clothes were soaked with blood.

The thought of survival made her strong and she fought with every strength in her. The mating with Alan must have unleashed the power in her.

She was surprised at her actions, too but at the same time, she was not willing to back down.

If she wants to return to the pack, she needs to stay alive. At that moment, that was the thought in her mind.

She shrieked in pain as one the attackers sword sliced through her skin. She became furious and her blows doubled.

Simon was breathing hard as he continued running.

At this time, he didn't know why he wasn't running as fast as he should. It was as though energy was being drained from his body.

The conversation he heard made his knees feeble.

Several thoughts were running through his head. From the conversation between Alan and Reyna, he didn't want to believe that Freya was going to be killed.

It gave him goosebumps that soon, he found himself running through the woods, crushing whatever stood in his way.

He slowed his pace when he approached where he left Freya. Everywhere was quiet. He scanned till he saw Freya sitting at a hidden corner.

She seemed to be frightened. He approached her slowly.

Freya stood up with a start. Her claws grew long immediately.

"Hey, Freya, it's just me, okay? You don't need to be afraid," Simon raised his hands in surrender.

She calmed down when she saw it was Simon. Her claws went in.

"What happened, Freya?" Simon inquired.

He sat down next to her, taking a close glance at her. There were bruises on her face.

Her gown was town, too. She looked rough and her lips were pale.

"I think he knows I'm alive," she answered him.

"What do you mean?" Simon asked.

He was looking at her with eagerness to know what happened.

From what he was seeing, a fight really broke out here. The place was a mess. It was like a bloodbath.

The dead bodies of the wolves Freya killed were all lying on the ground.

Their skins were pale.

Freya turned to look at him sharply then with a husky voice, she said, "I think Alan knows I'm not dead. That devil knows!" she hollered.

"Simon, what do you see? Take a look around. Does this not prove that he really wants me dead?" Freya questioned with teary eyes.

She was referring to the bodies on the floor. Handling such a task single-handedly was not an easy task.

Simon sighed. His stormy grey eyes looked at her in worry.

Her gown was torn and soaked with blood. Her state was a mess. Her lips were not left out, she had some bruises at the corner of her lips.

Simon wished he could comfort her and tell her that everything was going to be alright.

He didn't expect Alan to be this ruthless to someone who has been in the pack before he was appointed as an Alpha.

He thought about the conversation he heard. He pondered whether or not he should tell Freya about it.

Telling her would be like adding salt to an injury, so he discarded the thought.

It was really hard for him to decide what to do. He was in a tight spot right now.

He was not sure of what Alan was going to do with him if he returned to the pack.

After contemplating for some minutes, he stood up.

Freya raised her head. She has been trying to hold back her tears all these while. She wondered why things became this difficult since her parents died.

The passing away of her parents was so sudden that she didn't get to prepare herself for these things that occurred.

If her parents were to be alive, she wouldn't have been tossed away by Alan.

She held her chest; her heart hurt badly.

She wished she could do something. If she could at least go up against Alan, then things will fall back in place.

She was helpless and worried at the same time. Reyna might be going through something worse, the thought of what might have happened to her gave her chills.

To her, if she loses Reyna, it'd be really over. Reyna was her backbone; she has been there as a parent since her parents died.

She held her palm in her face.

"I'll get you clothes," Simon's voice jolted her from her thinking.

She looked up at him in confusion.

"Clothes? What for?" she asked.

"Take a look," Simon pointed to her gown.

She goggled down at herself and saw that her gown was a mess.

"I don't need them," she voiced.

"Your words wouldn't stop me anyway, so I'll just get going," Simon replied.

He made to move when Freya held his clothes.

She shook her head in disagreement.

"One of my attackers escaped. He is likely to come back," Freya explained.

"From the look of things, Alan isn't the type to back down," Freya made clear.

Simon stood still and thought hard about it. He was aware of the fact that if Alan knows she's alive, he'll try to eliminate her at all cost.

But still, he has to make some efforts on her behalf. He has to make sure of her safety. He didn't know why he felt this way, he felt he needed to protect her at all cost.

Freya was still looking at him and waiting for his reply. She didn't want to endanger someone because of her. Reyna was enough already.

"Still, you need to take those off," Simon said worriedly.

"There's no need. For now, I can't remain here."

"I'll look for somewhere else to stay for the time being. You have nothing to worry about," Freya assured.

Simon was still not convinced.

"Please, just allow me to handle this myself, okay? I don't want to be a burden to you," Freya elucidated.

"You have done much for me already, and I'm thankful."

She turned to leave but Simon grabbed her hand. Freya gaped at him with a surprised look on her face.

He bent himself to her level. His short hair hung in the air as part of it covered his grey eyes.

His lips were smooth and glittery like a jade. His sharp features made him look extremely beautiful from up close.

Freya searched his eyes, unsure of what prompted his actions.

Simon's eyes were filled with affection. He didn't want to let her go but he can't make her stay against her wish.

"Just make sure you stay safe," he said, almost in a whisper. His voice had gone raspy.

Freya nodded her head. He was still close to her, not making any attempt to move back so she could leave.

She cleared her throat. Simon tugged like he was in some kind of trance.

He moved and gave her some distance but he held her hands.

Freya began to feel uneasy. This was what she was trying to avoid for the moment, at least until the wound Alan foisted on her heel.

Suddenly, like a force was summoned, Simon found himself before Freya. Be bent to her level.

Freya found herself being drawn close to him. It was the same as when she found Alan.
