Chapter 4

Tori's POV

I wasn’t telling him—or anyone. They didn’t deserve to know. No one cared. Alex would only want to keep me under tabs for his child, which was the exact same reason I didn’t want him to know. I didn’t want to see him again, ever. He had nearly ruined my mental health and my sanity. I couldn’t risk another heartbreak. Besides, he wasn’t worth it. He didn’t deserve to know.

The first thing that had come to my mind when Lily dropped the bomb was:

Tell him. Alex would be overjoyed. Maybe he would love you back.

But the image of his snarling face—filled with so much hate—flooded my head, and I thought better of it. He would probably keep me until I gave birth, then throw me out.

Not happening.

I stepped out of the hotel and drove to my company. Or rather, Alex’s company, which he had put in my name. At least it was the one thing I loved that he didn’t take away, and funny enough, it was only because I agreed to sign the divorce papers. I pushed open the glass doors and walked in.

It was the stares that made me feel something was wrong. Sandra, the receptionist, gave me a cold look.

“Can we help you?” she said, and my eyes widened.

Can we help you? This is my freaking company.

“Umm, you do realize you work as a receptionist here, right?” I asked, and she scowled.

“Yeah, I know that. And I also know that you are not my boss,” she seethed.

“What?” I exclaimed. “What are you talking about?”

“She’s talking about Alex handing over the company to me,” came Carmen’s voice behind me. I whirled around, staring at her in shock.

“That’s a lie,” I said, and she grinned.

“Well, it’s true. Alex handed over the company to me. Blotted out your name among the rights to own it,” she said, and I gave her my angriest stare.

“Liar. Alex told me if I signed the papers then I could keep the company,” I insisted, and Carmen laughed.

“You’re so blind and delusional, Tori. You thought he was gonna keep that promise? How naïve can you even get?” she said and tossed me a set of papers.

My heart shattered—again into a million pieces—when I saw the rights given to Carmen, signed and authorized by the bureau.

“Ta-da! The company is now mine. There’s nothing for you, Tori. No one cares about you or your beautiful face,” she said, and I nodded sadly.

“You’re evil. And one day, I’ll take my revenge,” I said.

She laughed hard—a cold, cruel, mocking laugh.

“Even the Moon Goddess doesn’t like you. Because if she did, this wouldn’t be happening to you.”

I smiled.

“Thank you for letting me know how evil you are,” I said, and she grinned.

“I am not evil, Riri. No one loves you, and no one ever will,” she said.

I growled. “I don’t need anyone’s love.”

“Of course,” she replied sarcastically. “So why don’t you get the fuck out of my company and go back to whatever slithering hole you crawled out of?”

I scowled. “I—”

“Guards!” she screamed.

I nodded. I could hear everyone laughing. I nodded again. Now I know my enemies.

The drive back to the hotel seemed longer. I had to stop, to try and hold myself together, not to give in to the tears. It had taken all my willpower not to let my anger rise to the surface and rip off Carmen's face. I wasn’t a violent person, but the urge to do that had been so strong.

I needed to forget. I needed something to drown my sorrows. I needed something to drink.

I drove to a popular pub I knew and parked outside. I just sat there, collecting my thoughts, having no idea that everything around me was already dark.

Evening. Perfect. Time to drink.

“One bottle of vodka, please,” I yelled, and the bartender nodded, disappearing behind the counter. He came back with a bottle in his hand. I snatched it from him and tossed him a wad of cash.

“Thank you—”

“Just go,” I growled, not even in the mood.

I tried drinking it all at once, but I gritted my teeth at the strong taste, so I resorted to taking it in sips. I could feel the drink relaxing my nerves, going straight to my head.

I kept drinking until I started to feel tipsy. Werewolves don’t get drunk easily—it would take an outrageous amount of alcohol to do that—and yes, that was what I did. I could feel stares all around me, and I couldn’t blame them. It wasn’t every day humans saw a strange woman drink fourteen bottles of vodka just to drown her sorrows.

I imagined how it must look and chuckled.

The door opened, and a very handsome man stepped in. The moment he entered, I knew he wasn’t human. He had this powerful aura around him—so powerful I could feel my wolf retreating. Which meant one thing... he was an Alpha.

He was so handsome that all I could do was stare. Even Alex seemed like a child compared to this perfection at the door. He turned to the barkeep and whispered something. I could feel the superior aura radiating off him.

He’s an Alpha. What’s an Alpha doing here? This isn’t your territory, mister.

Then he turned—as if he’d heard me—and headed straight in my direction.

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    I'm sorry

Chapter 41 Tori’s POV It was a scene I never thought I would see. A scene that made me rethink my choice to forget him. A harmless crush won’t hurt anyone. I brushed the thought away quickly as I walked toward both of them. “Tori, you woke up late,” Kylian said, his smile cheeky. I gave him a small kiss on his forehead as I looked at him. “I’m sorry, I was just so tired from yesterday. I will take over in the kitchen now,” I said to him, attempting to take the apron from Alpha Adrian—but he moved away from my reach. “Have your seat and wait. I never said you would be the one making breakfast today. If you still feel tired, you can go up and rest. I will bring breakfast to you,” he said. I was speechless. Did he just offer to give me breakfast in bed? I sighed internally. Just like him, I knew he never meant it. Did not mean it in the way I thought he did. And the sheer thought of that alone was enough to kill the butterflies dancing in my belly. “Daddy is m

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Do what?

Chapter 40 Tori’s POV He did not allow me to talk. He did not allow me to carry Kylian—not until the doctor told him I was well enough and could finally be discharged. I saw the look of relief cross his eyes as he looked at me. “Never do that again,” he said to me when we were finally back in the car. Kylian was sleeping in the back seat, probably too tired from all the running he had done today alone. “Do what?” I asked him. His eyes left the steering wheel for a split second as he turned to look at me. “Never leave anywhere to come looking for me. Especially when you are sick. I will feel better and die peacefully knowing you are safe instead of seeing you jump taxis just to get to me. Do you understand?” he asked. My heart fluttered, and my head felt light as I nodded at him shyly. Who was this man in front of me now, and where did he get this tongue from? Did he even understand the kind of butterflies he had given me with that statement? We were all tired whe

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Is daddy going to be ok?

Chapter 39 Tori’s POV I could still feel my head hurting when I heard the news on the television. So that was why he had rushed out so quickly this morning. Someone had died. My heart went out to the man, and when he announced that he would be entering the same car to prove its authenticity, I felt my heart begin to pound even harder. “Take this off of me,” I said to the nurse who was checking my IV drip. She looked at me as though I had gone crazy. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but we can’t do that. Your body is not strong enough to detach from this yet, and I just think that—” she began to say, but I had no reason to hear her out till the end. I ripped the drip from my hand, the red blood pooling from the small piercing as I held Kylian’s hand, making to leave. “Miss, please, you have to listen to me. This is not good for the baby—” she tried to say, but I was already out the door, phone in hand as I called a taxi. “Is Daddy going to be okay?” Kylian asked as we got into th

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    I hope you have a conscience

Chapter 38 Alpha Adrian's POV All eyes were on me now, waiting for my response. Even the shuttering and clicking of the cameras seemed to have gone quiet as everyone waited with bated breath. I swallowed. “Of course I would do that. If it will make the people see how safe they are, then I will do it,” I said. The whole room erupted again in a flurry—shutters clicking and reporters talking. Damian smirked. “I really hope you don’t end up in the hospital because of your ego,” he said. “I hope you have a conscience,” I said, and with that, I turned around to leave. We were not allowed to check the car. I knew if we checked or tried to do any fixings on the car, they would deem it unsafe and the main cause of the man’s death. The seats were filling up quickly as people came out in their multitudes to watch me test-run my own car. I watched them drive the car out, parking it and handing me the keys. Collins looked at me, his eyes holding uncertainty. “You don’

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Gone too far

Alpha Adrian's POV My heart was beating really loudly now and I could feel my wolf growling in anger. He had done it this time. He'd gone too far. He not only tampered with my business, he also cost a life in the process. “Daddy, is something wrong?” Kylian asked when I finally came back in. I walked toward him and pulled him into my arms. “I need you to stay here and look after your nanny for me, okay? I have to make a quick trip to the office, but I’ll be back soon to take both of you home,” I said, my eyes settling on her too. I could see the question in her eyes; a part of me hoped she would ask, but she didn't. I nodded at her before dashing out and getting into my car. I picked up my phone to call Collins and he answered on the first ring. “Are you still at the office?” I asked. “Yes—but there’s a very huge thing going on now. Alpha Damian is holding a conference meeting at his company, announcing a new automobile he claims is not as unsafe as ours. I think h

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Panic

Chapter 36 Alpha Adrian’s POV The panic I felt when her body hit the tiled floor was insane. I was sure I was not breathing. My gaze was hazy even as I herded Kylian into the car, putting her limp body next to him. I was sure I had broken more than a few rules as I sped through the city, trying to get to the nearest hospital. The shock I felt waiting for the results was even worse. So when the doctor finally approached me, I was already on my feet before he could get closer. “How is she? What is wrong?” I asked quickly, trying to calm my breathing as I looked at his face. “She is fine and the baby is fine, too,” he said. Wait… what? “Baby?” I asked. He nodded. “Yes. The woman you brought in is two months pregnant. She is fine, but I have to warn you about stressing her in the future. She nearly lost the child today, and it’s mostly because of stress and overthinking. I would advise that if she is working, she quits at least until she gives birth, and she should
