Alex's POV

Somehow I could not help but feel the emptiness of the house after she left. I did not know why I thought I would be happier now — without her lying to my face and cheating behind my back.

The thought of her betrayal stung again, instantly replacing the loneliness that sat in my chest.

“Babe. You woke up so early this morning and I was trying to reach you,” the new love of my life, Carmen, said.

When she moved into the pack house I did not think much of it — after all, she was my mate’s best friend. But in the long run I had to thank her for opening my eyes to the cheating of the woman I loved.

I turned and planted a kiss on her lips, savouring her moan before I pulled away.

“I have a lot of work to do today, and I also have to entertain Alpha Harden later. Perhaps you should look for something to do in the kitchen — I heard the staff need an extra hand cooking dinner tonight,” I said.

She pursed her lips as though I had insulted her.

“What is that supposed to mean? You want me to demean myself to the level of cooking with mere servants?” she snapped.

I inwardly sighed.

“Of course not, babe. It’s not a problem if you can’t do it, but as the Luna and my wife I just thought you would be more in charge of cooking my meals,” I said.

She scoffed — a loud, uncomfortable hiss — and looked at me with narrowed eyes.

“You don’t love me. That’s the only reason I can think of that would make you expect me to slave away in the kitchen when we have experienced chefs,” she said.

I pulled her into my lap to calm her quickly.

“Okay, I’m sorry, okay? It was a bad suggestion. If you’re bored you can watch a movie or something,” I said, burying my lips into her neck and inhaling her intoxicating scent.

“No — I want to go shopping for that new bag you promised me,” she said, a slight pout on her lips.

I sighed, knowing where this would lead. She giggled and picked up my black card, giving me a quick kiss on the forehead before walking out.

Did I make the wrong decision celebrating her as my Luna?

I could not continue the thought as Alpha Harden walked in — a man I’d known for years, grown up with, a brother in every sense.

“Your new Luna is a pretty one, huh. I’m so glad you got rid of that no-good cheat. I always knew something about how she acted kindly to you was off,” he said, taking his seat.

I did not want to talk about Tori, not while my heart still longed for her, wishing she were near so I could study the lines of her body like I always had.

But it was obvious that was the only topic Harden wanted to discuss.

“We should get started on the new contract now. What do you think about a modern building?” I asked, trying to steer the conversation away from her, but he was not buying it.

“You know who my wife said she saw in a hotel yesterday?” he asked, his eyes glinting mischievously as they always did when he was about to reveal something juicy.

I was curious; my heart pounded. “Who did she see?” I asked.

He grinned, as though he’d been waiting all his life for that question.

“She saw your former Luna. And the Alpha of Gold Crest Pack — Alpha Adrian. In a hotel together.”

It took a second for the words to register, and when they did I was livid with anger and disgust.

How had I not realized from the start she was such a disgusting slut? She didn’t even wait after leaving my house — she jumped straight into another man’s arms.

“I never knew she was such a slut,” I muttered under my breath, the dull ache in my chest flaring.

“It’s a good thing Carmen told you about her wayward behaviour. Imagine if she’d already had a child for you,” Harden said. I exhaled — thank goodness there was no child in the picture.

Throughout the rest of the day, even as I tried to focus, I could not shake her image from my head. I groaned in frustration, half my work still undone as night fell and the sky darkened like a blanket.

I headed to my room, steps nimble, walking almost soundlessly down the hall. I was nearly at my door when I heard a low voice at the other end of the corridor.

I listened with my werewolf senses and knew instantly the voice belonged to Carmen.

The realization that I hadn’t seen her since she left my office that morning pulled me toward the sound. I walked slowly, steps as light as a feather as I drew closer.

I made out the silhouette of her by the window, talking into her phone.

“It is all going according to plan, so rest assured,” she said. My suspicion grew. Who was she talking to?

“I love you too,” she added — and that was it for me.

I revealed myself quickly, watching the phone fall from her fingers as she turned to look at me.

“Who were you talking to just now?” I asked, eyes narrowed into slits.

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Why?

Chapter 166. Tori's POV My left hand rubbed over my right arm as I looked around with tension knotting my eyebrows. The serenity of the evening couldn't be overemphasized, and everyone was having such a romantic evening. I was here with Monica, by friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law, but I was more occupied with the fact that I could kill everyone right now... "Hey, sweetheart," Monica snaps her finger in front of my face. "We are talking about your wedding here, come on." Yes, I had told her about Adrian's proposal, and to my surprise, she didn't have any objections to it. This was such an irony because months ago, she was trying to kill me just so that I would stay away from her brother. Now, she didn't even mind, and for some reason, it bothered me. My finger gently touched the stem of my glass, but I didn't reach to drink from it. "Why aren't you stopping Adrian from getting married to me?" I heaved. "I beg your pardon?" She laughed incredulously. "B

Chapter 165. Adrian's POV The syringe was still in her neck when the chemicals kicked in and she fell limply on me. I was in that position for almost a minute, as I stared at her face. This was the most broken that I had ever seen her, and I hated it. Oman and the rest of the servants came closer now that she was unconscious. Oman took out a handkerchief and wipes the blood from his nostrils. They were talking loudly as I gathered around their deceased colleague. I was so ridden with guilt that I couldn't even get closer to them. "Dispose the body into the city's mortuary." I instructed. I needed a glass of two to get my head together. I would have to call his family and tell them what had happened. "He's alive!" I twisted my neck back to stare at them. What the hell were they talking about?! "He is alive, sir, somehow." Oman declared with a huge smile on his face. "His limbs are broken, but he still has a pulse." I set Tori gently on the ground a

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    It's okay, Tori. Everything will be fine...

Chapter 164. Tori's POV There wasn't a single drop of blood in my hands, I didn't even need to raise my hand, but I ended up killing someone. This wasn't my first time of taking a life, but this was different. My former victims were rogues, terrible people that would have killed more people if I hadn't taken care of them, but THIS was different. This was an innocent servant. I killed one of Adrian's servants, even though I knew how much he protected and was kind to them. It all started while I was having one of my deep and endless sleep. I heard Kylian crying, and my heart jumped because he never cried. His voice in distress gave strength to my limbs, and I immediately looked out of the window. One of the servants, Joey, was pulling something from Kylian's hands, and Kylian wasn't ready to let go. "You must let go immediately, Kylian. You are definitely not taking those flowers into the house for Miss Tori!" "But Tori is sad and I need to make her feel

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Killed, huh?

Chapter 163. Alpha Adrian's POV I jumped right into work and after a long day in a closed door meeting with a few of my partners, I went back to my room to catch my breath over a cup of coffee. I used that opportunity to grab my phone and put a call through to the servants. I needed to check on Tori every now and then. The first time that I came back to work, I was so worried about her that I put a call through to her, but she never picked up. With my heart racing with fear, I drove home only to find out that she was sleeping. I was relieved, but I wasn't sure about that now. "Hello? Has Tori had breakfast yet?" I asked the head servant of my mansion. "Sorry, Alpha, but Miss Blackwood has sent the servants away. She said that she was still sleeping." That was the same answer I got everyday that I went to check up on her. "Did you tell her that I've instructed her to eat, no matter how little?" I pressed. "She said that you would understand if she wants

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Wait!

Chapter 162. Tori's POV "Wait!" I grabbed my sleeping son from Gina and held him tightly to my chest. The pack members beer gathered around, watching me with pity as I cried bitterly. I didn't leave my baby, but I didn't have a choice. Larissa's hand reached out to rub my back, an act to comfort me, but it ended up making me to cry even harder. Adrian sighed before coming to me. His hand gently wiping my tears. "Tori, we need to go." He gently took Arthur from my hand gave him back to Gina. I would have concluded that he was being wicked bad heartless, but wasn't he the one that was trying to convince me that I was crazy for trying to leave Arthur in the first place? I fell against his chest and cried bitterly. Helen was here too. Her kind eyes were comforting me. "Wipe your tears, child. He is going to be fine." She assured me. Adrian didn't let me go, instead he put me into the car and drove away. He knew that if he spent even an extra minute

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Weekly feedbacks

Chapter 161. Adrian's POV "Are you crazy?" That was the first thing I asked her as soon as she broke the news to me. No, she was not crazy. She was very composed and of sound mind as she sat on the bed and held my hand. "I'm not going to allow you to do that, Tori. Surely you don't think leaving Arthur here is a wise thing to you. Why would you want something like that?" "Baby, it's not what I want, it's what the moon goddess wants." She reached to touch my face. I had always accepted the moon goddess as sovereign, even though I wasn't the religious type, but I was going to draw the line at this. I ended to protect Arthur too, and I didn't mind what kind of curse this might attract on me. "Please, Adrian," she held my hand even tighter. "Please, don't even think of sneaking him out." It's like she could read my mind. "Well, that's looking like a very good idea to me, Tori. Why shouldn't I do that?" "Because it will attract curses on both us and Arthu
