Alpha Adrian’s POV

She was having a panic attack. That much was clear to me.

I hated drama. But most especially, I hated women’s drama. I did not know what I was thinking when I asked her to work as a caretaker for Kylian. Perhaps it was the drinks.

I wanted to blame it also on those multi-colored club lights that messed with my brain and did everything to increase my bad decision-making skills.

I contemplated leaving her in the elevator and waiting for her to figure it out herself. I had a meeting in one hour, and this was not how I expected today to go.

The growl my wolf gave me when I suggested leaving her there told me I could not just walk away.

But looking at her, clutching her chest as she struggled to breathe, I knew I didn’t have the heart to abandon her.

I pulled her out of the elevator, leading her into the female bathroom, not caring that the women inside shrieked at the sight of me, dashing out and trying to cover their feminine bits.

I nearly scowled in disgust. Brave of them to think I was interested.

I pushed Tori against the wall, holding her face in my hands as I forced her to look at me.

“Breathe slowly—slow, Tori. List five things you can see,” I ordered.

She whimpered, refusing to open her eyes, so I shook her hard. She whimpered again, but this time she opened them.

“List five things you can see around you,” I asked again.

She gulped, her eyes darting wildly, chest still rising and falling too fast.

“Mirror, hand sink, flower pot, tissues… you,” she whispered, her voice trailing off. She repeated the items again and again, ticking them off with her fingers.

Slowly, I could hear her heartbeat settle, though the color had yet to return to her cheeks.

When I was sure she was stable, I pulled her out of the bathroom and into the room where she was supposed to be staying.

She didn’t utter a word, focusing only on packing her belongings into her box.

We were silent on the return trip to the car. The cab I had called for her was already waiting in the driveway when we arrived.

“Alpha Adrian, I’m… about today…” she began, but I cut her off with a wave of my hand.

“Remember when I said your business is about Kylian alone? That applies to me too. I don’t care what you’re dealing with, as long as it does not affect Kylian. He hates noodles, so make him cereals when you get back home,” I said curtly, not waiting for her response as I got into my car and headed toward my office.

I grunted in anger as I checked the time. I had missed the meeting.

The very moment I stepped through the doors, my beta, Collins, bombarded me.

“Where have you been? The meeting’s been postponed. And your… Emily came here to make a fuss about why you weren’t in the office yet,” he said.

I sighed, pulling off my suit jacket and slumping into my chair.

The meeting had been with other alphas who were considering expanding their business throughout the American port. It would have fetched us a great deal of profit, and the fact that I missed it only worsened my mood.

“Can the meeting be rescheduled to today? I don’t want to give them any reason to doubt,” I asked.

He nodded, instantly picking up his phone.

“It can be,” he said, and I nearly sighed in relief. Then I remembered what he had said about Emily and grimaced.

“And what did she say she wanted?” I asked.

He rolled his eyes.

Apart from Agatha, he hated Emily the most.

“Something about how she saw another woman with you and how that woman couldn’t keep her eyes off you,” he said.

“I hired a babysitter for Kylian,” I told him flatly.

He gave me a look—half pity, half warning. We had known each other for years, and I trusted him with more than most.

“Maybe we should try calling her again…” he began, but my wolf growled at the suggestion, cutting him off immediately.

I knew who the her was. And after trying to reach her countless times with no response, I had decided to stop. Hoping she would come back on her own. But it had been nine whole months, and she was still nowhere to be found.

“Well, if you don’t want us to try contacting her again, then would you at least call off the whole deal with Emily? If anything, she’s traumatizing Kylian instead of helping him,” he said, and I understood his point.

After she left, in a desperate need for stability for my son, I had agreed to get back together with Emily—an ex I once caught cheating on me. The woman I was with before Agatha.

She had been more than eager, but as I feared, Kylian hated her.

That was why I had no other choice but to hire a babysitter.

My mind drifted back to Tori—her pale, trembling face as she tried to steady her breathing in that bathroom.

“I want you to help me research someone,” I said to Collins.

It was simple. I had to find out who she was. And more importantly, if she was safe enough to stay around my son.

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Drop Dead

Chapter 155. Tori's POV Larissa advised that we shouldn't just enter into the pack yet. We had to observe and scan the area. We needed to know the kind of threat that we were under. "There are capable young men in this pack, surely there is no way that the rogues would have taken over everyone." I whispered to Larissa, who was sitting on the ground. "Well, we finished the burial rites for my father. No one is prepared for any kind of war. It's low for the rogues to attack us in a time like this, but I'm not surprised since they don't have any morality." I saw them with their weapons, and I saw the pack members tied up in groups of fives. The fucking rogues even broke into the storehouse and are wasting all the grains and wines. They poured the wine on the heads of the pack members and throws the bottles against the walls. I was biting down on my fingers as I thought of best way to go about this. I wasn't sure how my powers worked, if it could disappoint me

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    My mother's gift

Chapter 154. Tori's POV My mother's gift. I had it all along? Was that why this man was aiming his gun at me for a whole minute, and he hadn't pulled the trigger? Dante was trying so hard that veins appeared on his neck and head, but all his strain yielded nothing. I shut my eyes and imagined that the rifle was as hot as glowing coals and in that same breath, I heard Dante scream as he dropped his gun. "Dante, what's the matter with you?" "I don't know. The handle just got so hot. This is weird, I think this lady is a fucking witch! She has casted her evil spells on us!" Another one stepped forward and pulled his arrow directly at my head. "This is freakish, and I don't want any part of it. I will kill her once and for all, and let's head back to the rest of the people." "Please, no!" Larissa cried out. "She has a young son, you can't kill her." "Shut up, Larissa, or I send you to where your stupid father and brother went." I briefly shut my ey

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Blood

Chapter 153. Tori's POV Blood. More than I had seen in a while. My chest felt tight, and even though I wanted to stop the bleeding, I couldn't bring myself to move. Larissa winced as she tried to pull out the arrow, but it was so stuck, and she was only able to break out the end. I could hear voices approaching, and my heart started to lung heavily against my chest. She looked at me again, like I was crazy this time around. "Run!" She repeated, and it was like she gave power to my limps, because I ran. I ran even though the broad leaves slapped my face, and roots that are sticking out tried to trip me. I ran, but I didn't run that far. When I was sure that I was at a safe distance, I stopped and hid behind a tree. My breath was heavy, since I wasn't the most athletic person in the world, but I held my hand over my mouth, before I could rat myself out. Three men appeared and the whistled and encircled around Larissa, like she was a priced animal that was

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Run!

Chapter 152. Tori's POV I couldn't move my feet again, and my legs suddenly felt like they weren't mine. Did she just said that my mother didn't die at child birth? Since I found out the truth the about my mother, I beat my hand across my chest and blamed myself for her death. I was so sure that I had so much bad luck that was why she died. Only to hear that someone else was behind this? Fucking Luna dowager?! Larissa was looking at my face, waiting for a reaction (perhaps she was hoping for a violent one), but I was just standing and staring. "Hey, are you okay?" She snapped her fingers in front of me, as she she wasn't to get me out of a trance. "How did my mother die?" I murmured in a voice that I couldn't recognize as mine. Larissa pressed her hand against her forehead. "Tori, that's not a pleasant story for all of us. It's in the past, let's leave it there." "You weren't the one who had to grow up without the love of a mother. It's my trauma, and i

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    An accident?

Chapter 151. Tori's POV I couldn't sleep on my bed as I thought of the task in front of me. I vividly remembered my vision, so therefore, I knew that this wasn't a mistake. I was going to become the Alpha Luna, no matter what Larissa and her mother thought. Was I to reject it, and get the hell out of here, or was I supposed to accept that this was a gift from the goddess and my father? With that thought bouncing around in my head, I finally slept off. I didn't know how long I slept for, but when I woke up, there was a heavy banging on the door– driving a terrible headache into my head. "I'm coming!" I screamed in annoyance as I walked to the door in a zigzag manner. When I opened the door, it was Larissa that was standing at my door. I thought I was dreaming, because when I looked out of the window, it was still dark outside. Was she crazy? "You were sleeping too deep in there. I actually thought that you were dead." She says with sarcasm. "Well, you w

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    In two days time

Chapter 150. Adrian's POV "For the love of God, I have been nothing but kind and civil with you people, but if you try to offer my fianceè money like she is some kind of money-hungry non-entity, I will burn this fucking place to the ground." Luna dowager gasps and place her hands over her chest. "Alpha Adrian, how can you say such an awful thing to us? After we have housed and fed you and her for days!" "Oh, please, I'm a millionaire! I can literally go down the town and buy Tori a house now! Don't act like you are a saint who has done a good deed. You were literally trying to kick Tori out right after the ceremony!" Luna dowager didn't like the fact that I was standing up to her, she was so used to everyone kissing her ass, and I wasn't willing to do that. Tori was grabbing my hand, silently begging me to stop, but I wasn't willing. Larissa was quiet too, but I could tell by the look on her face that she shared the same sentiment as her mother. They thought
