Chapter Thirty-Nine

Rae spent the whole morning thinking about how she would tell him how she felt.

She woke up with certainty. She had never felt such certainty before in her life. It had to do with seeing him almost dying in her arms. At that moment, she realized that if he died, she would be bereft. She would never forgive herself for not giving them a chance. She knew then that she would rather be with him then not. It was a strange thought because she didn’t stop finding a lot of aspects about him irritating. Tolerable was what they became. Because despite everything, he never stopped caring for her. There was nothing that she did that ever made him change his mind about helping her. Her own family had given up on her at some point so his actions were admirable. He did the impossible for her time and time again. He did what nobody else would do, not even herself.

Rae didn’t want to lose him and the thought of wandering the wild on her own didn’t fill her with excitement as it had so many weeks ago
