You might be familiar with those stories where a young girl is rejected, because she is tagged a wolf less girl. Well, that is not just my story. My name is Ember Fin, and I am an orphan.

I started living with my uncle after I lost my parents to a disastrous flood, that claimed many lives in my city. Till today, some say that it was the anger of the moon goddess upon the community, that made her destroy a lot of lives.

"Phew!" I sighed in frustration and weakness. For the past few days, I and some other late shifters who had been rejected and sold by their families, were jam-packed in a very small confinement.

To make matters worst, we weren't given feed, and we were also treated like servants. What pained me the most was that my wicked uncle, had claimed every property my late parents had left behind.

Being dragged down the hallway in chains, I knew that it was the highest level of pain that my body could endure.

"Would you walk very fast, you untamed rejects?" The wild man barked at us. It was very obvious that he was the emcee.

Well, we were all tired as a result of exhaustion and pain.

"My back... my back...!" I screamed in pain. One of the ruthless men standing behind me, had flogged my back with a painful whip. Even as I made to fall on the ground, I kept getting some more lashes all over my body.

Almost immediately, my whole body got covered in blood. The worst part of my dilemma, was that none of them cared about what they were doing to us. It was even very obvious that they were enjoying the pains that they were inflicting on us.

In no time, we arrived at the hall. Throughout my journey on that chain, I could only cry in pain, and also call on the moon goddess to come and take me away, just like the way that she claimed my parents.

We got to the hall, and we met the presence of an audience, that I later discovered were mostly Alphas, who came to look for younger and fresher blood that they would prey on.

All my body was sore, and I irked of fresh blood and rotten meat. Obviously, from my untreated wounds.

"So, I promised you'll a spectacular display, today." The emcee began, and I stared at him in disgust.

Their were over give of thirty of us on that chain, that had been bounded legs and hands together. At that very sight, I had witnessed some who passed away.

"Looking at these young bloods, I know that it'd be a tough decision to make. Let's start from the first person!" He said, and they started bidding on the price that she would be sold at.

Although my vision was actually blurry, and I was also the last person on the line, and I could clearly see how everything was going.

Soon, like a movie, I was just the last remaining.

There I laid on the ground in a helpless manner, I cried unto the moon goddess with the fear that she might have deserted me.

With so much hate in me, I cursed each of the men sitting in the audience. I couldn't explain how they derived joy in preying on the vulnerability of young girls.

"She is the last girl remaining, and obviously the most beautiful of them all." The emcee started again. This time, he was obviously talking about me.

Each passing second, I would notice the impatience in the eyes of those men. Their eyes were filled with both lust and also evil.

"I hate you." I cursed at him, but I was silenced with an ear deafening punch that almost shattered my brain.

"You cursed animal!" He spat at me.

At this point, I had given up already, and I was just hoping that the worst wouldn't happen.

To think that I was being manhandled by this man, and none of them could ever help me.

"Mere looking at her, you'd know that she is very fertile. She will definitely fill your home with plenty wolf babies." The emcee said, and they whole audience started laughing at me, again.

I was just so pained.

Here I was, sitting down in front of an audience of men who loved to capitalize on the weaknesses of others.

The most annoying part of it was that they were actually laughing like drunk fools who had lost their minds. In all honesty, I actually didn't find anything funny in all the naughty jokes that they were making.

"You'll will suffer and die in hell. Karma will come after all of you." I cried out in frustration, and the response was another round of laughter.

What was funny to them?

Why did they find it funny?

"You'll be the first to die." One of the guards fired back at me, and dashed towards me with a sword.

"Stop!" the voice of the emcee, echoed across the entire building. "Do not tamper with this commodity. Remember that if she has any scar, her market value would also reduce as well." He yelled at the guard, and he drew back immediately.

What would have happened if he didn't hold that boy back?

Where has their conscience gone to?

"So, who is making the first bid?" He asked the audience.

"Twenty thousand dollars!" A deep baritone voice shouted from the back of the audience.

"Fifty thousand..." Another intercepted him.

"One hundred thousand dollars..." Another.

Yet, another, until a shocking incident happened.

A voice that sounded more superior to the rest mentioned a figure, and the auditorium went into a long murmur.

"Ten million dollars." The voice muttered, and the whole attention turned to him. Everyone wanted to see who it was. Well, the emcee didn't waste any time, before declaring the auction, closed.

I stared in uncertainty, as I didn't have any idea, about any drama that was even happening at the moment.

"Sold to Alpha Roman Moscow!" The emcee mumbled under his breathe, and dashed off the stage with immediate effect like someone who had seen a ghost.

"Have you heard it?" As the unknown shadow loomed next to her, Luna pressed herself against the chilly stone wall and muttered. Although the voice was gentle, playful, and almost personal, there was peril in every word. She tried to control her shaking hands and screamed, "Who's there?" Short, sharp gasps of breath mixed with the musty smell of the hallway. The shadow moved. A silhouette entered the faint candlelight. A tall, broad-shouldered man with dark hair who appeared to be piercing her with his shrewd, sharp eyes. He was imposing, a quiet storm encased in a human body. He murmured, "You shouldn't be here, Luna," in a silky, low voice that made her skin crawl with fear. "So, what brings you here?" With a trembling defiance beneath her words, she asked in a voice stronger than she felt. Do you intend to stop me? or to witness my punishment?” She felt as if his eyes were measuring her very soul as he watched her for a heartbeat. "Neither. For the time being. H

  • The Rejected Luna    Whispering in the hallway

"Did you see him?" the maiden murmured, trembling like a leaf in the wind. After giving Luna a stiff look and pushing herself into the hallway's dark corner, she shifted her weight as though she was ready to leave. Luna crouched behind the massive pillar, her heart thumping in her chest. "Who?," she murmured, her lips barely moving. Roman? "Yes!" "The Alpha." The maiden's amber eyes were wide with fear and glinted in the dim corridor light. He went down the wing to the west. At the moment, I think he's busy. Quick! You must pay attention to this. Luna felt her heart race. She had memorized the guards' patterns, but Roman's movements were rapid, like a storm that would suddenly sweep over the halls. "What brings you here? Trying to sneak around alone is suicide! The girl went on, "I have a message," scanning the empty hall as though she was waiting for someone or something to emerge from the shadows. And, please, comprehend. I'm not even safe here. The corridor st

  • The Rejected Luna    The Castle Comes Alive

"Who's there?" The sound of the wind scraping the castle walls was barely audible above Luna's voice. Her hands clasped the shredded sheet she had wrapped around herself like armour as her voice failed in the huge room's darkness. Through the tall, gothic windows, the pale light of the crescent moon crept through, creating skeletal shadows on the stone floor, and every element of the chamber seemed to breathe, to hum with invisible eyes. Her veins ached from the memory of Roman's visit from the previous evening. It was difficult to forget him, the piercing glimmer of his obsidian eyes, the savage smirk that had promised anguish with a taste of something lethal and tempting, the chilly domination in every measured movement. Her body ached in locations she didn't know could experience such fire, but her heart continued to pound against her ribs because of the anxiety she had for what he might do next. She climbed up slowly, cautiously and methodically each time. She felt shiv

  • The Rejected Luna    Shadows of Defiance

I stayed on the bed for what felt like hours, trembling, my chest tight, my body sore from every bruised inch. The silence in the room pressed against me like a living thing. My ears were still ringing from Roman’s voice, echoing the command I refused to obey, the command I had defied. The air itself seemed heavier, charged with something I could neither name nor fight. Every corner of the room was dark, but shadows moved at the edges of my vision. I forced myself to sit up, my muscles screaming in protest. I touched the scars across my arms, my neck, the tender bruises blossoming across my ribs, and tried to imagine a life where I could move without fear. The door creaked. My head snapped to the sound, every nerve on high alert. A maiden appeared, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and caution. She didn’t speak. She simply placed a tray of water and bread on the small table near my bed. Her hands shook as she set it down and stepped back.I swallowed hard. Hunger was an afterthough

Now take off your clothes! His voice reverberated like thunder as he roared once again. My hands shaking against my ripped clothing, I froze. My whole body trembled, not just from fear but also from the anger that was building inside of me. This was humiliation, a last-ditch effort to shatter me, not just cruelty. "No." I said in a barely audible whisper. Immediately, his eyes darkened, blazing with rage. "What were your words to me?" "I declined!" This time, despite my inner voice telling me to stop talking, I spoke louder. The blood on my face blended with my tears, but I wouldn't look away. "You can murder me, beat me, or whip me." However, you cannot deprive me of my dignity. Silence for a moment. His nostrils flared, his jaw tightened, and for the first time I noticed hesitation instead of haughtiness in his eyes. He growled and moved closer till his shadow engulfed me, asking, "You think you're strong, Luna?" "You believe you can live by defying me?" He ran h

For him to bring out his weapon, clearly meant that he'd not hesitate to destroy me with it."You think you can escape from me, huh?" He dragged my hair in forceful way.To be honest, I didn't even have the slightest idea about what he was talking about."Stop... Please, I beg of you..." He muttered."But..." I was immediately stopped from talking further with a gigantic punch. The effect of that punch made me dizzy and weak that I collapsed to my bed.Just then, he made to leave my room, but he came back again. This time, he dragged someone into the room with him."You know her, right?" He yelled at me, in a dangerous manner.Since I didn't know who he was talking about, I managed to raise my head to se
