ANMELDENCHAPTER 4 - THE LYCAN EMERGES
Sharp pain slices through my chest, making me gasp. But without a wolf, I couldn’t experience the full pain of breaking a bond. Caspian falls to his knees, clawing at his chest, blood seeps through his chest down his hands. I take a step towards him then stop. I stand there watching him gasp in pain. The one who had been my safe haven since I was six and had lost my father to exile. His friends go down trying to stop him from clawing at his chest. I clench my hands into fist to keep myself from pushing Melody away from him. She shoots an accusing look at me. What? Okay it’s bad now that I said it first. The pack members start closing in around us, looks of accusations thrown at me and I try not to shrink into myself. Caspian looks up at me, his eyes dark with raw pain. Fur begins sprouting out of his skin and I take a step back. When he begins getting back to his feet, I turn and run back to the packhouse. I push open the packhouse door, trying not to fall flat on my face. The whole world for some reason, kept spinning around me. My head is pounding, painfully. With heat spreading through me, my whole body felt like it was on fire. The cool air of the night coming through the windows does nothing to quench it. I stumble through the sitting room to the kitchen, with the intention of getting some ice. My hand closes around the handle of the fridge and when I pull it open, the whole door comes off with it. I stared at it open-mouthed, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it because intense pain began to flood through my body. “Goddess please!” I cry out. I reach for the Ice filled bowl, but just as my hand touches the rim, my legs give out. I go down, the bowl of Ice coming down with me. Sounds of broken glass fills the place but no one comes because everyone is at the field. The heat and pain makes it hard to breathe and I find myself gasping for breath. My hand reaches out… To the goddess? To the mate I rejected? I don’t know. Snap! “Goddess!” I shout when my arm bends at an unnatural angle. Then my knee shifted, intense pain shooting through me. It finally dawned on me. I’m finally having my shift. I tried to stand, to get to my room. But the pain was too intense, my back ached on the floor. Silver fur shot out of my hands. I could feel my body expanding. Tears rolled down my eyes from both pain and excitement. When the pain finally stopped, I was covered in silver fur. I looked around, everything was brighter than usual. The tiny dead spider on the left side of the wall close to the ceiling was clearly visible now. My ears perked up, the noise from the Bonding moon filtering into my ears. Are my senses supposed to be this heightened? Slowly I pushed myself up but inside of standing on all fours, I found myself standing tall on two hunched feet. My head grazes the ceiling to the point where I have to bend over to be more comfortable. I reach up to touch my snout, letting out a growl instead of a gasp when I find it longer. Longer than normal. Slowly, on unsteady massive feet I turn towards the mirror hung on the wall in the sitting room. A massive Silver furred Lycan stares at me, its eyes filled with horror. As the lowest Ranking Omega, I have never had the chance of travelling out and meeting other children of the goddess. So my knowledge of Lycantropy comes from books. But one thing I knew was Omegas never got to be lycans. The shock of my reflection had me staggering back into the refrigerator. It comes crashing down with a loud sound. My ears narrow into a sound in a nearby distance. Footsteps quickly coming closer. My heartbeat increases, the pack guards nearby must be coming to check what happened. Suddenly I feel myself being pushed down subconsciously. What’s happening?! A low growl answers from within. Soon enough, I find myself looking at things but with a certain drowsiness. My limbs begin moving on their own without my permission. I ran into the main part of the pack house before I knew it. The packdoor opens and the pack guards burst in. There’s a moment of pause as their eyes find mine, their mouths drop open. My body doesn’t give them time to respond, I’m running towards the side wall. I close my eyes. There’s a moment of pain spreading through my front. I feel the wall in front give way then the cool caress of the night breeze. When I open my eyes, I run deep into the forest away from the pack house, the field, Cassiel, Liora and closer to the pack border.CHAPTER 8 - SHE'S BACK?CASSIELHe turns away from me and so does Elaris. He places his head on the small of her back as they head back. My eyes narrow in on the contact, my heart squeezing painfully in my chest. My wolf whines. Your fault.Goddess, what have I done?Cody moves towards me.Are you alright? His worried voice enters the mind link.I keep a hand out to stop him from helping me if he intends to. I have already shown enough weakness in front of these Lycans.Elaris, this female, I don't think I've had a single clear though anytime I've been with her. I might have just handled this situation badly. We should leave. I say.He frowns. But…They are itching for a fight. If we stay, we will give them an excuse to. I tell himHe nods and glances at the other wolves. They nod too and we begin heading back home. Only when we are far away from the Lycan, did I allow myself to spit the blood clogging my throat.***When I got back to the pack, Michael and Melody were already waiting
CHAPTER 7 - PROVOKED HERCASSIELMate! My wolf howls joyfully within me.As usual I find myself being drawn to her. Even before we became mates, it had always been that way, her drawing me in, in ways I can't explain. I find myself falling hopelessly all over again. It felt like years ago, when her dad had been exiled and she was brought before us by the head warrior. She had peaked at me from behind the warrior legs. Big brown eyes filled with tears and at that moment, I knew I would do anything to protect her.How did I bring myself to let you go in the first place?I didn't realize I was moving towards Elaris until I had growling Lycans suddenly blocking my part.“My betrothed is beautiful no doubt,” Malik says. “But it’s best if you stay in your lane.”My eyes snap towards him. Betrothed? “What are you talking about?”My attention shifts back to my mate. He’s talking nonsense isn't he? “Elaris?”Those bright brown eyes snare me in, and I find myself drowning in them but she breaks
CHAPTER 6 - ELARIS OR LYSARA“Yeah, according to the crone. The only way to cure the blight is by ingesting the blood of a lycan, given freely.”The whole room goes silent.“Is this a trap or something?” I ask slowly.Cody looks uneasy. “I don’t think so.”Michael says, “We have to give it a try, what other choice do we have.”“Where are we going to find a Lycan that would be willing to do that?” Melody asks. “We wolves have not exactly been friendly to them.”She was right, The wolves have always them viewed as barbaric and thus cut off from our trades and alliances. Their dealings are mostly with other species.“The witches also said, the last Lycan sighting was in the eastern lands,” Cody says.I let out a tired sigh. “A rogue? They are not the best candidate.”They would attack before we even get a word out.Cody rolls his eyes. “No. They said it wasn’t a rogue.”“The witches actually gave you all this info for free,” Michael's voice was filled with surprise.Cody hesitates. “No,
CHAPTER 5 - THE BLIGHT Three years later Cassiel’s pov That sharp pain An Alpha feels when a mind link snaps, when the end of the link connected to pack member goes silent is heart wrenching. In the literal sense. This happens either when a wolf had gone rogue or had lost their life. The latter is the case here. Another sharp pain comes. Another link going silent. Another wolf under my care, gone. My hand tightens around the biro in my hand, my eyes staring blankly at the death reports on my desk. I have failed them. A knock comes on my door. “Come in.” My friend and beta, Michael walks in, his face grim. He slumps into the chair before my desk. “Any news from Cody?” “Not yet,” I reply, a cough coming up to my throat but I force it down. If the pack finds out the blight is also crawling through their Alpha’s system, the whole place will be in chaos. They can't afford to know. Enemies can't either. Michael drags his palm down his face.“It’s been two days. What’s keeping

CHAPTER 3 - I REJECTED HIM I let out a breath and forced myself to relax. When I turn back, there’s a fake smile plastered on my face. Soon enough I’m standing in front of Cassiel, Melody, Michael and our delta’s son; Cody. Michael grins at me. “In the two years that we left, you have already grown much taller.” Cody adds quietly, “Taller than we expected.” Michael shoots him a quick look. Cody shrugs. “What? You brought it up.” “It’s fine,” I say, and truly it was. Even I was surprised at the way I had grown, as an Omega with no wolf. It would have been expected that I won't reach the height of an average werewolf. But I had grown much taller, much taller than the Alpha’s daughter which added to my list of abnormalities. Michael’s eyes narrow on my still reddened cheek. “What happened to your face?” Your dad did, but I don’t say that instead I place the tray forward. “Cookies?” I try not to look in Cassiel’s direction even though I can feel his gaze burning through the
