Raven’s POV

His lips slammed onto mine, and in less than a millisecond, I responded, our tongues deeply entangled as he tore off my nightgown, leaving me in my underwear.

“I was barely able to hold myself back there in the changing booth,” he admitted, “I wanted to bend you over and show you exactly what a good time looks like,”

My head was spinning with so many thoughts.

Dante had already had his wolf since he was 11.

Which means all this time that he has been tormenting me he knew.

He knew that we were mates and yet he still made every day a nightmare for me.

I seemed to come to my senses as I remembered that and tried to push him off me as he was trying to unhook my bra.

But he kissed me harder until all the ‘no’ I had inside me went down my throat.

I had always heard that the physical chemistry between mates was intense but nothing could have prepared me to experience it myself.

It was completely out of this world, his touch was electrifying everywhere it reached my body until I didn't care that I was doing this, having my first time with the person I hated the most.

Until I climaxed so many times and my mind entered a hazy state.

By the time I finally snapped back into reality, he was already dressed again, looking down at me with a gaze that burned at my skin.

I left his room that night in one of his hoodies, promising myself that it would never happen again.

But it did.

If I didn't go to him Breeze would drive me crazy.

Wolves were not like people; they moved purely on instinct rather than logic.

Breeze didn't care that he was my adoptive brother or my biggest bully, she wanted to have him.

The crazy thing was that he never turned me away.

Our entire relationship felt so wrong.

Outside his bedroom, he still treated me like a loser, except he didn't allow anyone else to do so.

So progress I guess?

We never sat down and talked about the implications of us being mates, as shameless as it was it felt good to have his approval.

The same guy who said I was going to die alone because of how fat I was, the same person who had once joked openly to his friends that they should just think about me anytime they want to drop their b* was now the one worshipping my body.

He kissed every inch of flesh that he always claimed was excessive and made him want to puke.

In a sick way, it made me feel good about my body.

“Raven tells me the truth, no lies, Dante has a secret girlfriend now doesn't he?”

Luella suddenly asked one day at lunch and I nearly dressed her in the fruit juice I was inhaling.

I forced the liquid down my throat and replied, “How am I supposed to know?”

She sighed dramatically

“Come on! Both of you live under the same roof. Haven't you caught him sneaking her in once?”

I could feel every individual strand of hair standing up at the back of my neck.

As crazy as it was to even assume, I was worried that all Luella had to do was take one look at me and she would know who the identity of the ‘secret girlfriend’ was.

For the first time in my life, I didn't feel so insecure anymore.

The same guy that the prettiest girl in school, Luella, had been trying and failing to snatch was coming to meet me in bed every night.

Except for the added complication that he was my adoptive brother.

“I'll keep an eye out, but I doubt there's anyone like that,” I said, trying to clear my tracks.

Part of me felt a little bad because it was like I was making a fool of my best friend. She had been crushing on Dante forever.

Then I remembered the many, many times that she had left at my expense, and most of my guilt all but evaporated into the air.

Every night was like a dream.

But just like every other dream eventually you'll have to wake up.

And after waking up you just wish you could go back to sleep and continue the beautiful dream.

At night I was the only one he looked at, the only one he craved.

But during the day, when I’d see him at school, he was hanging around with the slimmest girls possible as if he was going out of his way to compensate for what he really wanted.

Then what was just supposed to be a twisted physical affair to feed my low self-esteem became something more when, after intimacy, he would pull me close, embrace me in his arms, and bury his face in my chest.

Such a gentle, soft side from a boy who had only been harsh to me had an immediate effect–a crush.

I started looking forward to those cuddles more than us sleeping together.

Then my delusions were fed further whenever I saw how aggressively he would behave when another guy so much as looked in my direction.

If that wasn't him staking his claim then what was?

I pictured that we were in a secret affair for now, but once we were older and ready to handle the can of worms that would inevitably come from our relationship, I assumed that he would tell everyone about us.

He never told me this.

I just assumed that's what he meant.

A week after I turned 18, the Alpha's health took a nosedive and the Elders were having serious discussions about Dante taking over.

There was suddenly a lot on his plate and he didn't come to see me for an entire week. During that week I noticed something that had my heart racing.

The first thing I did was to check.

I did.

And I was able to confirm my suspicions.

So I went to Dante's room instead, holding out a white object that had two red lines across.

“Dante…I'm pregnant.”

  • The Rejected Plump Mate Was Pregnant    91

Raven's POV I woke up Tuesday morning with my back hurting so bad and I could barely move. The baby had grown so much in the past few weeks that everything ached. My feet were swollen, my back was killing me, and even breathing felt hard sometimes. I tried to get out of bed, but a sharp pain shot through my lower back, making me gasp. "You okay?" Alaric called from the hallway. "Fine," I lied. He opened the door anyway, looking concerned. "You don't look fine," he said. "What's wrong?" "Just my back," I admitted. "It hurts when I move." He came into the room, sitting on the edge of my bed. "Where does it hurt?" he asked. "Everywhere," I said. "But mostly my lower back. The baby's getting heavy." "Let me help," he said. "Turn on your side." "What are you going to do?" I asked. "Just trust me," he said. I rolled onto my side with some difficulty. Alaric put his hands on my lower back, pressing gently with his thumbs. At first it hurt, but then he found the right spot and t

Raven's POV I went back to school on Monday even though my doctor said I could stay home another week. But hiding wasn't going to solve anything. Plus I needed to see Luella in person to set up our meeting. Alaric walked me to every class as he promised. People stared, but I was getting used to that. At least with him next to me, nobody tried anything. Between third and fourth period, I went to my locker alone because Alaric had to use the bathroom. That's when Luella showed up with Amber and Jessica, flanking her like bodyguards. "Well, well, well," Luella said, leaning against the locker next to mine. "Look who came crawling back." "I go to school here," I said, not looking at her. "I have every right to be here." "Do you though?" she asked. "I mean most girls in your condition would have the decency to stay home." "And I guess you never learned about minding your own business," I said, closing my locker. Amber and Jessica laughed, but Luella's smile got tighter. "Everythin

Raven's POV We were staying at Alaric's dad's house now, which was bigger and quieter than anywhere I'd lived before. His dad worked long hours, so we had the place to ourselves most days. On Sunday morning, Alaric spread papers across the dining room table. Screenshots of social media posts. A timeline of everything that had happened to me and notes about Jake, Luella and Dante. "Okay," he said. "We need a real plan. Something that will actually work." I sat down across from him, looking at all the evidence we'd collected so far. It was a lot, but also not enough. Nothing that directly proved Luella hit me with the car or that showed Jake was spreading rumors on Dante's orders. "We need recordings," I said. "Or text messages. Something they can't deny." "Agreed," Alaric said. "But how do we get them?" "Jake's phone," I said. "If we could get into his phone we'd probably find messages between him and Dante. Maybe even messages about the hit and run." "There's no way he'd just

Raven's POV I didn't want to go to the pack gathering, but Alaric insisted it would be good for me. We drove back to Valkhor territory on Saturday for the monthly meeting. Every pack member was required to attend, unless they had a really good excuse. Being pregnant and traumatized wasn't good enough apparently. "Stay close to me," Alaric said as we walked into the community center. "Don't let anyone separate us." "Okay," I said, gripping his hand tighter. The room was packed with people. Everyone turned to look when we walked in and the whispers started immediately. "Just ignore them," Alaric whispered. "They don't matter." We found seats near the back. I kept my head down, trying to make myself as small as possible, which was hard considering how big my stomach was getting. "Look who decided to show up," someone said loudly. I looked up to see Amber standing a few rows ahead with Jessica. They were both staring at me with mean smiles. "I'm surprised she has the nerve to c

Raven's POV I found out the truth about Jake completely by accident. I was walking past his room on Thursday afternoon when I heard him on the phone. His door was cracked open just a little. "I told you it's working," Jake said. His voice was low, like he didn't want anyone to hear. "The rumors are everywhere. People are already turning against her." I stopped in the hallway, holding my breath. My heart started pounding. "Dante, you need to relax," Jake continued. "She's not going to figure it out. She's too stupid and trusting." He was talking to Dante about me. "Yes, I'm watching her," Jake said. "She barely leaves her room. Alaric is always hovering around her like some kind of guard dog. It's pathetic really." I pressed myself against the wall, trying to hear better without being seen. "The hit and run was genius by the way," Jake said laughing. "I can't believe Luella actually went through with it." My blood went cold. Luella was the one who hit me with the car and Jake

Raven's POV I spent all of Wednesday morning thinking about what Alaric said about finding proof. If someone was spreading rumors about me, then there had to be evidence somewhere. Something that could prove who started it. I couldn't just sit around waiting for Alaric to figure it out. I needed to do something myself. "We should investigate," I told Breeze. "Find out what Luella and Jake are really up to." "How?" she asked. "We can't exactly ask them." "No, but we can watch them," I said. "Listen to their conversations. See who they talk to and follow the trail." "That's risky," Breeze warned. "If they catch us spying, they'll know we're onto them." "Then we have to be careful," I said. "We have to be smart about it." I grabbed a notebook from my backpack, then started making a list. Things I needed to find out and people I needed to watch. Luella was at the top of the list. Then Jake, Dante, and Luella's friends, Amber and Jessica. "What are you doing?" Alaric asked from my
