The Icy Princess

“I cannot wait for that, Helena,” I said, yet my daughter stood unshaken, her expression carved from ice. Her stillness carried a sharp defiance, but beneath it, I sensed her hesitation.

Helena’s refusal surprised me. She rarely cared for patience, much less for privacy. She was a creature of action, a predator who despised waiting. But now, when it came to her sister, she would endure the silence. That spoke volumes of her devotion to Heminica.

But patience had abandoned me. I could not sit and watch her lie there, broken and unconscious. I needed to see the truth with my own eyes, to understand every wound and scar she carried, to atone for all the years I had failed as her father. I had been a king to the most powerful realm, yet I had not been a father to my eldest child, the rightful Crowned Queen Luna of all werewolves.

“Call the hermit,” I ordered, my voice cutting through the heavy air.

The servant bowed and vanished, hurrying to obey.
