Chapter Five

Levi, Adrian, and Blake

“Men, we need you to go to Obsidian pack lands and investigate the attack that happened there last night.” Council elder, Leroy, says.

“Alpha Apollo and his pack went last night to find any survivors, and only one survived.” Leroy informs us. “We need you to search the entire area to find out who did this.”

Levi, Adrian, and Blake exchange a look, their jaws clenched in determination. They knew the importance of this mission, not just for their pack, but for the safety of all supernatural beings in the region.

“Understand,” Levi speaks firmly, his voice carrying the weight of responsibility. “We will leave immediately and begin our investigation.”

The three of them isted no time, shifting into their Lycan forms as they set off towards the Obsidian pack lands. The air is heavy with the scent of blood and fire, leading them towards the heart of the devastation. As they arrive at the edge of the territory, they can see the destruction that has been wrought upon the once-thriving pack.

Adrian lets out a low growl, his fur bristling with anger at the sight before them. Blake's eyes scan the area, searching for any clues that might lead them to the perpetrators of this heinous act. They move through the grounds with precision and caution, their senses heightened as they listen for any sign of danger. The moon hangs high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the ruins of the Obsidian pack lands.

Levi's keen eyes catch a glint of metal near a charred tree, and he motions for us to follow him. As we approach, we discover a silver dagger buried in the scorched earth, its blade stained with blood.

“This doesn't look like a random attack,” Adrian mutters, crouching down to examine the dagger. “This is deliberate.” Just then, our phones go off, causing us to grab them.

Mom-Savage is alive, but severely injured and fighting for her life. Your sister and I are heading over there now! Be careful and stay safe.

Blake sniffs the air, detecting a faint trace of an unfamiliar scent mixed with the acrid smell of smoke. His instincts tell him that whoever had done this is long gone, but they have left behind enough clues to follow.

“We need to find out who did this before they strike again,” Levi says grimly, his gaze steely with determination. “Let's split up and search the area. Stay alert and watch each other's backs.”

The three Lycans fan out, their noses to the ground, as they scour every inch of the devastated pack lands. Adrian follows a trail of broken branches and trampled foliage, his muscles tense with anticipation. Blake circles the outskirts, his ears perked for any sound out of place in the eerie silence that hangs over the area.

Levi's sharp eyes catch a movement near the edge of a clearing. He crouches, his fur blending into the shadows as he observes a figure shrouded in darkness. The stranger moves with a stealth that marks them as an experienced hunter, their footsteps barely making a sound as they navigate through the destruction.

As Levi prepares to confront the mysterious intruder, a low growl rumbles from behind him. Adrian and Blake had caught wind of the stranger as well, their instincts honed in on the potential threat. The three Lycans move as one, surrounding the figure before they react.

The stranger freezes, their hands raised in a gesture of surrender as they slowly turn to face the three-formidable Lycans. Moonlight glints off their hooded eyes, revealing a mixture of fear and defiance that simmers beneath the surface.

Levi takes a step forward, his voice low and commanding. “Who are you, and what are you doing here?”

The stranger hesitates for a moment before speaking in a voice tinged with bitterness. “I am Selene, a lone wolf seeking refuge. I saw what happened here and is drawn to investigate.”

Blake's ears twitch at the mention of Selene's name, recognizing it from whispered rumors of a rogue wolf with no allegiance to any pack. He eyes her warily, his instincts on high alert.

Adrian steps forward, his gaze piercing. “Why should we believe you? This attack reeks of betrayal and malice. How do we know you weren't involved?”

Selene straightens, her gaze meeting Adrian's without flinching. “I may be a lone wolf, but I am not a killer. I have no love for those who would harm innocent werewolves, like the ones who lived here.” Her voice carries a note of sincerity that gives the three Lycans pause.

Levi studies Selene intently, assessing her demeanor and the truth behind her words. After a moment of tense silence, he nods slowly. “We will give you a chance to prove yourself. Help us unravel this mystery and find the ones responsible for this attack. If you're telling the truth, your help will not be forgotten.”

Selene's eyes soften with gratitude, a glimmer of relief shining through her stoic facade. “Thank you. I swear upon the moon that I will aid you in any way I can to bring justice to those who committed this atrocity.”

With a newfound ally in Selene, the four continue their investigation into the ruins of the Obsidian pack lands. Each piece of evidence they uncover paints a grim picture of betrayal and power play within the supernatural community. The attack is not random, but a calculated strike aimed at destabilizing the fragile peace that has held between the packs for generations.

As they delve deeper into the mystery, Selene's knowledge of the political landscape among supernaturals proves invaluable. She shares information about rivalries, past disputes, and potential motives that could have driven a pack to launch such a ruthless assault.

Together, the four of us follow a trail of clues that lead us to a hidden underground chamber beneath what used to be the Obsidian pack's central meeting hall. The air is thick with tension as we cautiously enter the dimly lit space, our senses on high alert.

In the center of the chamber stands a lone figure, cloaked in shadows and emanating an aura of malevolence. The intruder turns to face us, revealing piercing eyes that glint with madness.

“I see you've been sent to investigate,” the figure sneers, their voice dripping with malice. “But you're too late to stop what has already been set in motion.”

Levi, Adrian, Blake, and Selene exchange wary glances, recognizing the danger that looms before them. The figure's identity remains obscured in darkness, their form a mere silhouette against the flickering torchlight.

“We are not here to play your twisted games,” Levi declares, his voice steady despite the tension thick in the air. “Tell us who you are and what you hope to achieve by destroying an entire pack.”

A chilling laugh echoes through the chamber, sending shivers down the spines of the Lycans and wolf. The figure takes a step forward, revealing a face twisted by hatred and a thirst for power that sends a shudder through the assembled group.

“I am known as Malakai, a name that will soon strike fear into the hearts of all supernaturals,” he proclaims, his eyes gleaming with a manic glee. “The Obsidian pack is merely the first step in my path to domination. With their demise, I will rise as the supreme alpha, ruling over all who dare to defy me.”

Levi's jaw clenches at Malakai's words, his resolve hardening as he steps forward, his pack mates flanking him in a show of unity. “Your thirst for power has clouded your judgment, Malakai. No true alpha would seek to rule through fear and destruction.”

Malakai's lip curls into a sneer, his disdain palpable as he regards the Lycans and wolf before him. “Weak words from those who cannot see the truth of our kind's nature. Power is not given, it is taken by those with the strength to claim it.”

Before Levi can respond, a low growl rumbles from Selene's throat, her eyes blazing with defiance. “Strength is not measured by the harm you inflict on others, but by the courage to protect and uphold the values we hold dear. The Obsidian pack may be gone, but their legacy lives on in the hearts of those who stand against tyrants like you.”

Malakai's eyes narrow, his composure slipping for a moment as he regards the lone wolf. “You dare to challenge me? I will pulverize you and your pack mates into oblivion, leaving your kind to rot beneath the shadow of my reign.”

Adrian takes a step forward, his eyes glinting with determination. “You may think you've won this battle, but you've only united the remaining packs against you. Together, we will rise and end your reign of terror.”

A fiery rage ignites in Malakai's eyes, his grip tightening on the magical artifact that lay in his hands—a relic said to have the power to control the minds of supernaturals.

“Foolish Lycans,” he spats. “You don't know what you're up against. I am the alpha you should have feared, and your defiance will be your downfall.”

The tension between the two sides is palpable, a dangerous energy pulsating through the chamber. Adrian, Blake, and Selene stand firm, their muscles tense and their eyes narrowed in determination. Even Levi, usually the epitome of calm and reason, feels a surge of adrenaline coursing through him.

“We are not afraid of you, Malakai,” Levi growls, his voice low and menacing. “You may have brought destruction down upon the Obsidian pack, but you will not prevail over all of us.”

“We shall see!” Malakai laughs sinisterly before disappearing into thin air.

“Look’s like we need to prepare our kingdoms for what’s coming.” Adrian mutters as he stomps away.
