Settling down was never my thing but Dominick Winston had to push me into it with his silly rules. I had no choice but to comply when Dominick introduced Victoria to us. I wasn’t okay with the choice, she wasn’t my type in any way. She is too fat, ugly, and the worst….naive. I gave her many reasons to hate me, everything I did was just for her to give up but yet, the more I mess around the more she is desperate to fix the marriage, even when she is hurting. I had slept with a lot of girls yet she didn’t care and that’s why I had to go for her step-sister, Harper because I know that’s the only one that can get to her. I know Harper wants me, she has always wanted me so it now makes things easier for me. Her family never loved her, so her sister was the only tool I could use to get rid of her, and yes…. I did it. Though for some odd reason, her tear-stricken face kept reappearing in my mind. I sighed and rubbed my temple when my phone started buzzing. “Yes, Mom," I said in a calm tone, scrolling through my laptop. "Yes, son, I saw the news, is it, not Victoria’s step-sister?" She paused, my mom had never acknowledged Victoria as my wife from the start. She never loved her. “.... Ughmm, she is pregnant?" She asked, I can hear the excitement in her voice. I chuckled, at her words, "Yes, Mom,” I replied. I am sure her face will be tearing up with a smile now. Victoria’s face flashed back in my head again and I instantly shut my eyes, pausing on what I was doing. Since she left my office this afternoon, I haven’t been myself. "Bring her to tonight’s party,” she said and I just swallowed hard, c*****g my brow in shock. My agreement with Harper wasn’t getting pregnant, I didn't know where the whole thing of pregnancy started coming from. When I saw the news, I was shocked but in a way, it was an opportunity for me so I had to play along with it to get rid of Victoria from my life. I know I needed her around for years because of the inheritance but not anymore. For seven years I have achieved more than that so getting her out of my life was the next thing I wanted. Though for Madame Calantha, she still hasn't given up on those inheritances. Wait, is she not going to ask me about Victoria? “No, Mom, not today," Mom’s poker face is suddenly in place, I can hear her displeased tone. "But she is carrying the heir to the Winston household or is it because of that barren woman you kept in your house that only knows how to eat and nothing more.” " Mom!” I yelled for the first time, surprising her. " Wait…. Logan, did you just raise your voice at me?" “We will talk later," I immediately ended the call.Fuck, what is wrong with me? I have never been this tense before and besides, my mom's insult toward Victoria never gets to me so why now? Damn, my head is about to blaze. Picking up my phone, I dialed Harper’s number and she picked up immediately. I didn’t wait for her to say a word and I went straight to the point, “What’s this that I am hearing?" She chuckled, a low, throaty sound, “Good afternoon to you too, my baby dad." “You should be happy, Logan, I gave you something that you have always wanted. Something that your wife couldn’t give,” she snickered, clearly not okay with my sudden harsh tone. Hearing her, I let out an irritated snort, my face twisting in a scowl. “That wasn’t part of the plan, you should have stuck to the plan, and besides that was a one-night stand," each word bitten off with a snarl as I yelled at her. "... Don’t piss me off,” "I don’t know how you will do it but better clear that news from the internet, and again, is the boldness for me. Aren’t you ashamed to post that? I thought she was your sister,” "Step-sister!” She was quick to put some corrections, " And when you were fucking my senses out, you didn’t remember you were fucking your wife's step-sister?” The way she emphasizes the step-sister, I can detect the hatred underlying her vicious tone. “I don’t care, just delete those articles from your timeline, and go and check yourself well. I am not responsible for that thing in your stomach," I let out sternly, each word cracking like a whip, leaving no room for any further argument. There was a minute's silence before I heard her let out, "Fine, I guess we will have to talk about this later, see you tonight,” “Tonight?" I hadn’t finished when I heard the phone beep, she ended the call. Don’t tell me that madam Calantha had invited her over for tonight's party? How could Mom? I furiously tried to dial her number again when instantly my best friend’s call came through. Fuck it, I am not ready for his endless lecture. I know he is calling because of the news online. Adjusting my tie, I sighed and picked up the divorce paper, and started heading home. All throughout the drive home, I couldn’t concentrate, and thank goodness I wasn’t the one driving. The whole saga was weighing heavily on me, there was too much happening all together in one day. I should be happy, I had divorced her, this is what I had always wanted but somehow I feel sad. Victory’s tearful eyes kept reappearing in my mind. She had signed the papers but where could she be? Home? “Why am I concerned? Is none of my business” I hissed immediately as the car pulled up in front of my house. I stepped out and started walking inside, she should get lost as long as I care. I walked inside and saw how the whole place had been decorated. The flowers, the candles, and the picture flame. I know this was her handwork, she never forgot my birthday no matter what. How pathetic. I hissed and tried to walk upstairs when immediately out of nowhere, Albraham rushed toward me. “Good afternoon, boss," "Yes," I snapped, my voice cold and harsh. My eyes moved slowly over him, filled with disgust. He flinched, his eyes dropping under my stare. “Madam left this when she was leaving," his trembling hand stretched out to hand me a white sealed envelope. What was that? My eyebrow twitched with curiosity as I eyed the envelope in his hand. At first, I wanted to dismiss it and tell him to throw it away - after all, whatever she left behind was none of my business. But, for some strange reason, I found myself collecting the envelope from him. “Okay, you can leave now," I said, curiously moving the envelope sideways as I wondered what could be written inside it. Abraham nodded and walked away, the door closed softly behind him. I ripped open the envelope and pulled out a white sheet of paper. Tossing the envelope aside, I scanned the page slowly, my eyes widening in confusion. Hospital test results? What was this about? Was something wrong with her? My heart skipped a beat at the thought, but then my gaze locked onto the bold letters at the top of the page.
My face went pale as I stumbled backward, shockwaves coursing down my spine. "Pregnancy test results," it read. And there, at the bottom of the page, was the one word that me and mom had always longed to hear for years: POSITIVE.
Victoria. Here we are heading straight to the party, I had to drop Kai at Magaret’s house. He will be staying there with Ella. I am going to the party with Matilda, she had mentioned that Bronwen would be coming. At first I wasn’t okay with that but he's her boyfriend, I can’t detect what goes on in their life and again, she said it was a way of him making it up for her the previous day that he stood her up. I accepted. And now we are inside the car with Derek driving us to the destination. As we pulled up to the venue, I could feel the excitement building up inside me. The joy that I would finally get to see Julian Saint Clair tonight. I didn't know if Logan would be coming, not like I care. The sound of camera shutters clicking and the humming chatter filling the air drew my attention and stared out the window. Derek carefully made our way through the crowded parking area with ease, expertly driving and maneuvering the car through the throng of paparazzi. The flashes from
Logan I lay sprawled on the bed. Bronson and Caleb scattered around me, all of us in our clothes from the night before. The room was a mess, with our shoes and bottles scattered everywhere. We had a long night yesterday, and I was actually paying the price now. My head was pounding, and my mouth felt dry. I tried to sit up, but a wave of nausea washed over me, and I fell back onto the pillow. Bronson and Caleb were snoring softly, oblivious to my misery. They said drinking would help me forget but it only ended up giving me a headache. My head hurts so bad. I lay back down and just as I was starting to drift off to sleep again, my phone rang. I ignored it but the constant beeping had me stirred around. I groaned and grabbed it, hoping it wasn't something serious. But when I stared at the screen with drowsy eyes, I saw my mother's name flashing on it. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should answer it or not. One thing, I was not fit for Madam Calantha's argument this
Logan “Fuck it!" I hissed and tugged hard on my tie, losing it. I stormed into my office and Bronson lifted his head from his phone and raised his brow at me. “What's up, bro?" He swung the chair around to face me. “Why are you fuming?" Is he her new lover? I chuckled, my lips curling down in annoyance. “They now go with nicknames," I clicked my tongue. “Vic." I mimicked his tone and my jaw tightened. “Who goes with nicknames? Are you alright, Logan?" “Do you know about Nexus Global Partners?" I asked instead, my attention shifting back to him. Bronson gave me a skeptical glance and inclined his head. “They are the new striving company," he shrugged nonchalantly. “...what about them?" So he's new to the line? And the fool is already all flirty. " Logan,” " I heard they are throwing a party," I snorted and Bronson blinked confusedly at me. “And?" I sighed and sat on my desk. “Victoria will be going," I said, recalling her statements. /" As for me, I am going.”/ My
Back to my office. It's another day for work. I have asked Margaret how she came about to know that wicked woman and she said when she was working in Switzerland. She had come there to eat ahd she happened to be serving her that day… that the woman contributed to her boss scacking her. The gist was long but the fact remains that truly someone else has confirmed how much of a wicked soul that woman is. I told her she was Logan’s mother but my concern was the look on her face after I said that. Her behavior was starting to make me suspicious again. I was starting to feel like there was something that she wasn’t telling me. I breathed out as a knock came on my door. I hope it's not Logan. “Come in." I mumbled and the door opened and Mr. Tom stepped in with a warm smile on his face. But what caught my attention was the young unfamiliar man beside him. He was talking, with broad shoulders with a confident stride. My gaze curiously trailed up to his hair. His dark gaur was p
Victoria. “You are back so soon?" I said, climbing down the staircase. “You left in a hurry, hope there is no problem?" I stopped at the last stairs. Ella closed the door as Matilda strode inside. She shrugged. " He didn't show up.” My brow slid up. "How?” " He said he has an emergency,” she sighed and plopped on the couch. “And did you ask him what emergency because he can’t fucking drag you outside and suddenly left you there unattended!" I said, striding to come sit on the couch as well. Kai rushed over and sat on top of my lap. “I was about to ask him but the call ended." “Then calm him back." Matilda gave her head a small shake. “He's no longer picking. I hope not bad has happened to him?" Really? A guy stood her up and this is what she asked. I rolled my eyes at her. And moved my attention toward the nylon in her hand. “What's this?" She followed my gaze and then sighed. “My stepping out can’t be in vain so I bought this at least….” She dramatically shrugged h
Bronwen. Beep- beep- beep- BEEP-beep-beep. I yawned and picked up my phone. Mom flashing on the screen. I picked it up. “Yes, Mom,” I said, my voice low and drowsy. The ringing tone had just woken me from my sleep. “The apartment that you said she was staying in. Nobody is there!" She uttered. I quickly sat upright in bed, my brow knitting in confusion. “What are you saying, mom?" “The caretaker there said it's a guesthouse.” My face paled at her words. WTF! " Hmm,” I immediately cleared my throat, rubbing my face to remove any traces of sleep still in my eyes. " Where are you now, mom?” "In front of the house.” She replied. I could detect her annoyance and frustration. " Who is with you there?” I asked, my head spinning anxiously. Madam Calantha sighed and spat out. “Mr. Bartram," “Okay, you know what?" I climbed down the bed, my mind was a jumble of thoughts, each one tangling with the next, making it hard to think straight. It felt like I
