Chapter 46

ALICE MORGAN

I slipped into the convertible, which was backed outside. I had my instrument at the side of the car. My heart was heavy.

"Jeffrey, take me to the cemetery." The engine came to life, and the car started in motion. I watched through the window as we passed several pack members going about their business.

The morning was still young, and the sun rays danced across the sky, painting the clouds in a warm palette of orange and pink.

I was on my way to the cemetery to show my respect to my father and little brother. The vacuum created through my heart was still open and couldn't be filled until I got my own tears of freshness.

I could still remember our last conversation before he was shut out of the world. If only I could still have more time with him.

If only I could still have his companion and his kind words, filled with so much wisdom. Now I was left with nothing but memories that still haunt me every time I close my eyes to sleep.
