She was meant to marry the heir of New York's largest crime family, but a brutal betrayal sent her straight to the feet of his terrifying uncle instead. Sienna thought surviving at the bottom of the Moretti crime syndicate was her hardest challenge. When the Don arranged her marriage to Julian, the charismatic young prince of the family, she believed her days of suffering were over. But Julian secretly loved her half sister. To secure his power while keeping his secret love, Julian cast Sienna aside, rejected their agreement, and forced her to take her sister place in an arranged union with Don Vincent. Vincent Moretti is the ruthless enforcer of the family. He is a cold monster feared by every cartel and mobster in the country. Everyone expected Vincent to destroy Sienna, treating her as nothing more than a political pawn in a forced marriage. Instead, Vincent gave her power, protection, and a crown. When Julian realizes his mistake and tries to claim Sienna back, Vincent puts a gun to his neck and delivers a cold warning. She is his wife now, and anyone who reaches for her leaves in a body bag.

The Betrayal Feast

I had spent years dreaming about the day Julian Moretti would put a ring on my finger. I never imagined another man would be waiting to take it off.

"Stop picking at the silk," my cousin Gina whispered, shoving my elbow. Her breath smelled of espresso and stale garlic. "You pull one thread and Julian will think we bought this off a rack in Queens."

"It fits," I said, keeping my voice low while breathing in shallow drafts. The satin pressed hard against my ribs. "That is all that matters."

"What matters is that the Don is sitting downstairs right now," Gina muttered, smoothing the red fabric over my hips with rough, impatient palms. "He does not like waiting, Sienna. Neither does his son."

I looked at my reflection in the dark windowpane. For twenty-two years, I had been the poor relation in the Rossi family, the daughter of an uncle who left behind nothing but gambling debts and a bad name. Moving through the halls of the Moretti compound felt like walking through a house made of thin glass. One wrong step and the whole floor would shatter under my shoes. But tonight was supposed to change everything. Julian had chosen me. Not my half sister Elena, with her bright laughter and soft hands, but me.

The door swung open without a knock. Elena stood in the doorway, twirling a wine glass between her fingers. Her red dress sloshed a thin line of cabernet over her knuckles.

"They want you downstairs," Elena said. She did not look at my dress. She looked right at my eyes, her smile tight and dry. "Julian is already at the head table. He looks nervous, Sienna. Very nervous."

"He has a lot on his mind," I said, stepping past her into the hallway.

"Does he?" Elena chuckled, a soft, buzzing sound. "Or maybe he just realized what he is signing up for."

I kept my chin up and walked down the wide oak staircase. The main dining hall of the estate echoed with the scrape of silver cutlery against fine china. Thirty men in dark suits sat around the long mahogany table, their wives draped in heavy jewelry that caught the glow of the chandeliers. At the far end sat Don Carmine Moretti, his white hair combed back flat, his eyes dark and motionless as river stones.

Julian stood to his father's right. He looked handsome in his tailored tuxedo, though his hair was slightly messy at the crown, as if he had been running his fingers through it repeatedly. When his eyes met mine, he did not smile. He adjusted his cufflinks, his shoulders pulled high and tight.

I took my place at the small guest table near the foot of the room. The air was thick with the smell of roasted meats, expensive cigars, and old leather.

Don Carmine struck the side of his glass with a heavy gold ring. The pinging sound cut through the low hum of conversation instantly. Silence dropped over the room like a wet wool blanket.

"Friends," Carmine said, his voice deep and raspy from forty years of cigars. "Tonight we bind two families together. The Rossis have proven their worth over three generations. My son, Julian, takes Sienna to keep our blood strong and our streets quiet."

A few men raised their glasses. I took a slow breath, letting my hands rest flat against the tablecloth.

"Father," Julian interrupted.

The room froze. Carmine did not turn his head immediately. He slow-rolled his gaze toward his son.

"Julian," Carmine said quietly. "Sit down."

"I cannot do that," Julian said. His voice cracked slightly on the second word, but he cleared his throat and stood taller. "I cannot tie my name to a traitor."

A sharp gasp came from the table behind me. Gina grabbed the edge of her chair.

"Julian," I said, standing up so fast my knees hit the wood frame of the table. "What are you talking about?"

Julian did not look at me. He pulled a thick manila envelope from the inner pocket of his jacket and slammed it onto the table in front of his father.

"Those are the transport logs for the Brooklyn docks," Julian declared, his voice rising, gaining an artificial strength. "Three shipments were intercepted by the federal strike team last Tuesday. Over four million dollars in cargo, vanished. The tip came from an internal IP address registered to the Rossi apartment."

"That is impossible," I said, my pulse hammering in my throat. "I do not even have access to the shipping office. You know that."

"I know what I found on your laptop, Sienna," Julian said, finally turning his eyes to me. They were cold, devoid of the warmth he had shown me three nights ago on the balcony. "You met with Agent Vance at the diner on 4th Street last month. Don't lie. I have the photographs right here."

"I was buying medicine for my mother!" I took a step toward the main table, but two armed guards immediately stepped into the aisle, blocking my path. "Julian, look at me! Why are you doing this?"

Elena sat in the corner, sipping her wine, her eyes gleaming under the chandelier lights. She did not look surprised. She looked satisfied.

"She betrayed the family before the ring even touched her finger," Julian barked, addressing the entire room now. The men at the table were leaning forward, their faces hardened, hands reaching instinctively toward their belts. "She thought she could sell us out to build a nest egg for herself. Family honor demands a price, Father. She cannot be allowed to walk out of this house."

"Julian, please," I whispered, the room spinning around me. "Tell them the truth."

"The truth is on the paper," Julian snapped. "You made your choice."

Carmine sat motionless. He picked up the envelope, unclasped the metal tab, and slid the documents out. He glanced at them for no more than three seconds before tossing them back onto the polished wood.

"Silence," Carmine commanded.

The room went dead quiet again. You could hear the faint hum of the air conditioning unit in the wall. Carmine leaned back in his leather chair, his heavy gold ring tapping a slow, rhythmic beat against the table.

"You bring me this shame in front of my captains, Julian?" Carmine asked softly.

"I bring you the truth, Father," Julian said quickly. "To save us from a parasite."

"You bring me a mess," Carmine corrected him. He looked down the length of the table at me. His gaze felt cold, heavy, and totally detached, as if he were looking at an old piece of furniture that no longer fit the room. "The Rossi bloodline was promised a union tonight. I will not have it said that the Morettis go back on a public word over the sloppy mistakes of a girl."

"Father, she tried to ruin us," Julian protested, his face flushing dark red. "She deserves a bullet, not a marriage!"

"She will not get a bullet," Carmine said flatly. "And she will not get you."

Carmine turned his head slowly toward the shadowy corner near the heavy velvet curtains at the back of the hall.

"Vincent," Carmine called out.

The shadows moved. A tall man stepped into the light. He wore no tuxedo, only a dark, unbuttoned wool coat over a black shirt. A long, jagged scar ran from the edge of his left cheekbone down into his collar. Vincent Moretti, the Don's younger brother, the executioner everyone in the city spoke about in hushed tones. He had been standing there the entire time, unseen.

Vincent did not speak. He simply stood with his hands shoved deep into his coat pockets, watching his brother with calm, dead eyes.

"She is your responsibility now," Carmine announced, his voice carrying clearly to every corner of the room. "Take her to the upstate estate. Keep her contained. Marry her by midnight tomorrow."

Julian stepped forward, panic breaking through his composed facade. "Father, no! You cannot give her to him!"

Vincent turned his head slowly, locking his dark eyes onto Julian. Julian stopped mid-step, his mouth hanging open, the words dying in his throat.

"She belongs to Vincent now," Carmine said, closing the folder on the table. "Get her out of my sight."

Vincent took three long steps toward me, his heavy boots thumping against the hardwood floor. He grabbed my upper arm with a grip like an iron vise and yanked me toward the side exit before I could even catch my breath.
