“No, I didn't!” I screamed on top of my lungs. The entire room seemed to spin around me, and my eyes pulsed as hot tears started rolling down my face. "I didn't kill him."
“You were forcing yourself on him," the lady who had walked in at the last minute said as she rushed to the still bleeding alpha. "I saw everything. It was clear as day.”
"No..." I muttered under my breath as I took two steps backwards. "I... I would never do such a thing. He tried... he tried... " I tried to speak but I only burst into tears.
Suddenly, the door slammed open and five guards stormed into the kitchen. Two pulled at my arms, dragging me toward the door. I tried to react but I could not as it was happening all too fast.
"Exalia," one of them, the pack gamma, asked as his grip on my hands tightened. "What have you done?"
"Nothing!" I cried out as more tears fell from my eyes. "I swear! He tried to force himself on me and... and I didn't do anything, just a push."
"Don't lie to us!" Mike, the gamma shouted, pointing at the alpha's body and the unknown lady. "We have a witness!"
"What?" I muttered, my eyes wide as his words hit me. "No! I didn't force myself on him, how is that even possible! I would never do such a thing, you know me!"
"Save it for the trial!" Jesse said as he grabbed my wrist and brought out a silver cuff. "You're under arrest for murder!"
Jesse and I never got along, so I understood why he would act in such a way. But Mike? He knew me well enough to know I wasn't going to do such a thing. I looked at him, but his eyes held nothing but disgust and anger.
He really believed I killed him?
The silver cuff clamped around my wrist and my skin hissed the moment they both touched. I groaned in pain, the smell.of burning flesh reaching my nose as they tightened their grip on my hands and dragged me out of the room, ignoring my pleas and cries.
"Alpha Jake," I shouted but Jake turned his gaze away from me like he didn't even know me. I decided to resort to the only person I could call. "Dad, dad please wake up!" I kept screaming, but my father was nowhere to be found.
"Shut up, you bitch!" the lady yelled as she struck me hard against the face. "You killed him! You killed our alpha!"
"No! No! I didn't do anything! I didn't!"
"Liar!" A guard spat. "Traitor! Witch! You'll pay for what you did!"
I felt a surge of shock and despair as the guards dragged me until we were in a dark and damp dungeon. I barely registered the sounds and sights around me as all I could hear were my sobs and the clang of the rusty bars snapping shut behind me.
'This had to be a nightmare,' I thought to myself. 'It was going to be okay,'
I banged my head hard on the cold, moss-covered wall behind me, trying to wake myself up-all were to no avail. It wasn't a dream-it was all real.
'How did this happen? This couldn't be real.'
I replayed the events in my mind, and realized the horrible truth. I couldn't ignore it anymore-I was really cursed.
"Ugh" I groaned as I collapsed to the cold floor and sobbed uncontrollably as I remembered everything. "Why me? Why did Maria really do this to me?”
We were like sisters-No! We were sisters. And she had to stab me in the back by having sex with Jake even though she knew I had feelings for him.
*****************
Days turned into weeks, and no one still came to see me-not Maria, my dad, Joel, or even Jake came around the dungeons.
I looked up at the bars shielding me from the outside world and found a guard walking down, his sword clanging the metals he passed.
I quickly stood up and rushed to the bars before he could walk away. “Please," I begged as I stretched my hand, trying to reach him. "Can you tell me about my dad's condition? Is he fine?"
The guard turned to face me and I smiled upon seeing his face. It was Gerald, the only guard who had ever spoken with me ever since I came here.
He sighed and looked around to see if there was anyone nearby before walking toward the bars. "I still respect you, Exalia, so I'm going to answer once," he whispered. "The beta's condition is getting worse, and no healer is attending to him, so I heard."
I fell backwards, running a hand through my disheveled hair as Gerald's words kept on ringing in my ears. I thought they were taking care of my dad-I was wrong. I longed to see him, but I knew it was too impossible.
"Can you please allow me to visit the Alpha?" I asked as I looked back up at Gerald. "I promise I'll be quick."
Gerald eyes narrowing as his jaws clenched harder. He remained motionless, as if he didn't heard a word I said.
Weeks ago, my words were treated with respect-even though it was little-but now I felt like I was no longer the daughter of the beta of the pack. My status in the pack had shifted from being the daughter of the beta of the pack to being a criminal.
"How lucky am I?" I muttered as I laughed bitterly. I understood Gerald's silence and couldn't blame him. "Please, I am begging you. I just need to see him real quick. After that, I'll leave immediately."
"I'm sorry, but I cannot grant your request," he muttered, shaking his head. I could see it in his eyes, even though the cell was dimly lit-he didn't believe I would truly do what I was accused of. However, his personal opinion held no weight against the evidence they had.
Funny.
"I really just need to see him, please!" I continued to plead, going down on my knees.
"I can't let you do that, Exalia... giving you access might only add to the accusations against you." Gerald was worried about me and I smiled at that, but it was evident he wasn't telling me something. “The accusations against you are more than you can imagine."
My heart sank.
“Tomorrow is your trial, Exalia," Gerald muttered as he turned away. "I'm sorry.”
There was no need to try to object to my fate, it already has been sealed.
“And exalia," I looked up to see Gerald standing by my cell, "I... I know it doesn't concern you, but... but we've been under attack for weeks now.”
Exalia’s POVThe morning sun came quiet. it came through the silk curtains like gold spilling from the sky.I stood in front of the mirror in my chambers, still and silent, wrapped in ceremonial robes of silver and white. They glowed with every breath I took, as if the fabric itself was alive. My hair was braided down my spine, braided with tiny moon crystals that glowed faintly against the waves of dark brown.Around me, my wolf shimmered. Her aura rising in a low, silver glow. She wasn’t angry or trying to protect herself. She was just there… calm and complete. This was me now.Not the girl who had once knelt in chains. Not the broken mate Jake walked away from. Not the furious prisoner Maria left to rot.Not the beast Jaddy tried to break. Not even the warrior who almost lost Axel.No. This woman, this Luna, was all of them, and none of them at the same time. I stared into the mirror, into eyes that had seen hell and made it home again.“I was born to be broken,” I whispered, “so
Exalias pov We walked into the palace like a crew that had seen it all, because actually we had. The sun hit the white stone just right, casting gold over everything. The new palace towered like a crown, cleaner, sharper, more alive than before. The path was lined with soft pine trees and glowing blue flowers I didn’t recognize. Magic hummed in the wind, subtle but steady. Guards at the archway straightened. Their eyes widened. “White Luna,” one of them said, dropping to his knee. And then the others followed. Axel glanced at me. I didn’t respond with words, I just nodded once, holding it all in. I didn’t feel like a legend or prophecy anymore. I felt… like someone who’d survived hell and somehow walked out the other side. We passed under the arch, and everything inside burst to life. Tasha gasped. “What the hell… this is not the palace we left behind.” “It’s better,” Dane added. “It’s reborn.” The air inside the main hall was thick with the scent of fresh stone and blooming
Exalia’s POVAfter a few more hours of sailing in peace and fun and laughter, our ship finally cut through the last stretch of the sea.“Alex, we’re finally almost home,” I said in excitement, grabbing his hands and dancing like a happy child who had just received a Christmas gift from Santa Clause.“Calm down, calm down, relax your self and behave yourself,” he said, trying to calm me down but I could not help it, I was just too excited, and no one could even calm me down or ask me to stop rejoicing. If Alex had felt half of what I felt about our home, he would have understood the reason why I was so excited that we were finally home, and he wouldn’t ask me to calm down.He would even join me to celebrate. And we saw the coastlines of our kingdom far off like a promised land in the distance.I smiled deep within me, I was home at last, and I would not lie; the vacation had been a very fun and interesting one. I rested my back on the railings, and the wind blew softly against my hai
Exalia’s POVIn the heat of the moment, Alex sprung to feet immediately, as alert as ever. His voice was low and hard, when he called on Ryk and Dane.“Ryk,Dane, get the others ready. Exalia and Tasha, please do well to come with me, so we find out what they want.”The biggest of the pirate ship positioned in front of our ship and one of the men brought out a chain, and used it to hook our ship. The two ships were now hooked together by a big black chain, these humans were really joking with their lives.Suddenly, a dozen haggard looking humans swung into our ship, they looked like touts or cultists, and they carried pistols and rusted cutlasses. Low budget pirates, I bet they thought they had stumbled into easy prey, fools!Their captain who was apparently their leader, was a middle aged call clownish looking man with a patchy beard. He came forward and twirled a blade.“Well well well,” he sneered, grinning and revealing his dirty yellow teeth.“Fancy ship with fancy folks in it, k
Exalia’s POVWhen the champagne bottle reached my turn, I took a gulp and it was quite sharp on my tongue.I was not the type to drink such drinks.I then handed it over to Alex.He smiled and tried to tease me, “Exalia, you’re an adult, you’re above eighteen years old. Please don’t tell me a gulp of champagne is making you shiver like a little baby,” he mocked, grinning with his teeth wide open.“Are you going to take your own gulp, or you prefer to say things that are not profound?” I asked, whispering into his ears, so that only he could hear what I said.He gave me a side eye and took the bottle from my hands, and his eyes glinted with a mischievous look, Alex was a silly old man.“Okay everyone,” he said, shining his teeth and grinning.“To kicking some ass and to popping champagne and drinking on the way home,” he said, pouring down so much of the liquid into his throat. We all burst into a fit of laughter, even Dane fell rolled on the ground, and Tasha lost her footing and fell
Exalia’s POVAfter about ten minutes, Alex came out from the bathroom and his towel covered his body. He looked as handsome as ever as the water dripped down his hair and onto his face then to the ground below.“Well, i hope you did not finish all the hot water,” I said, not even giving him time to breath or rest.He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders, and deep down in my heart, I knew he must be tired of me, because I was really fund of disturbing him so much. Not everyone could tolerate the way a woman would treat them like the way Alex did to me.Sometimes, when I looked at Alex, I saw a humble, gentle and great leader, and I was often very proud of him.I also felt honored to be the Luna and queen of such a wonderful Alpha king like Alex.I know that he we every girls dream, if I was not his Luna, and If he had not yet chosen a mate and married by now, many girls would have been flocking around him in the palace everyday. Many of them would even go out of their way to get h
