A check up. Felicity is soon brought to the cells, already crying with red blotchy eyes. Four royal guards position themselves around her, keeping her boxed in. I step out of the way so that they can walk her into the cell next to Nadine‘s. But they don’t stop. They continue to the basement door. Were they seriously going to torture her? Seeing into his soul. Once the feisty lycans had finished their family argument, I heard them all return to their rooms to get cleaned and changed, before joining me. Axel was now back at the palace as he was before when recovering from being shot. He literally walked back to the training base and swiftly returned with a bag, demanding that he stayed. A sprig of lavender. Once again Lorrel was clearly a dab hand at sorting out this kitchen after a lycan family bust up. You would never know that Lycan wolves were in here earlier trying to bite one another. She left a plate of food in the oven for me and a note in the fridge for a cold bottle of orange juice. Brennan had told us I needed to increase my iron level and the only way to absorb iron through food was to drink vitamin c enriched drinks or have an orange directly after eating. I was feeling cheeky, so I placed the plate on a tray and took it into the sitting room. I turned on the television and found some reruns of the hospital drama I liked when staying at the Mulder pack all those months ago. The ultimate sacrifice. “AIDA?” I can hear a voice coming towards me. My vision was starting to blur from the smoke inhalation. “Here, I’m in here…” I start to bang on the table, hoping whoever it was would hear my call. My ears couldn’t identify the person reaching me, my ears seem to have become tone deaf temporarily from the blast. For all I know it could be a female shouting for me. I open my eyes and take in the surroundings. Pockets of fires were burning around me but could easily be contained once help arrived. I look up to see the fireball had now disappeared and left black burning smoke in its wake. The hot smoke now burning through the floorboards. Even though there wasn’t any large fires in the kitchen, I couldn’t account for the top floors or even my exit. It could be the hallway was blocked with smoke and I’d have to somehow break out through the kitchen into the small family courtyard. Mind fog.I’m not really sure where I am. I wake up to the sound of beeping and the sound of my heartbeat. Since when did I have two heartbeats? I follow the noises until the realisation hits me, these are the strong heart beats of my babies. As I gain more consciousness, I wish I hadn’t. My body aches. My lungs, my leg and my eyes all burn in their own way. I groan as I open my eyes. “Aida?” Brennan comes close and stands over me. “What happened?” “You don’t remember?” He looks at me with a frown. “Remember what?” My brain was foggy, I couldn’t keep a simple thought or memory at the forefront of my mind. The painful dull ache taking preference over any memory. I slowly sit up, with help from Brennan and see Axel asleep in a hospital chair. I look down to see my tummy is wired up to the machine, Brennan wanting to keep a close watch on the babies. I try to talk but my throat is sore. The King’s Funeral. It was a damp dreary day. The weather symbolising the tragedy that is today, Ricardo’s final farewell. I was sitting alone in the hospital room with guards standing outside. I wasn’t doing well, being left to my own thoughts in a quiet room surrounded in a sterile and mechanical environment, wasn’t helping my inner anxiety. How do you say goodbye to a King, a ruler, a friend…family. Colette and Mav walk into the room, pushing Rayna who is fast asleep in her pram. “How are you feeling?” Colette says to me as she walks in the room. “I’m okay.” I smile sadly, I didn’t want to show any grief, any pain…how could I?
