The whole demure in the room shifted immediately from the entrance of Xander and the uninvited guests. I followed the direction of the voice to meet the familiar face of Alpha Marcus, Serena’s father. He was known all over the kingdom as a noble and fair Alpha.

He was well-loved both in his pack and the entire kingdom. A great friend of my father, they wanted to further their close bond by uniting their children. But, it wasn’t meant to be as I never came to reciprocate the romantic feelings of Serena. In my eyes, she was just like a sister to me. She spent most of the time with Tessa growing up, which is why I understood Tessa's outburst reaction to these proceedings. It hurt her more because they were best friends, and they spent most of their childhood together hoping one day to become one family.
