Chapter 35

SILVER MOON PALACE

“What the hell is she doing here?!”

All this time, she knew her mother wanted my organs, and she was okay with it?My mouth tasted foreign to me. The hospital lights too bright as I turned away from the room, disoriented.I had to get out of this hospital now. I had to leave. I could barely breathe; gasping through my tears, I stumbled away from the hallway and slammed face-first into somebody. Before her thin voice hissed my name, I knew who it was. Her sharp powdery smell was ingrained in my memory, almost as well as her pinched face.“Amber?!” Madam Griselda’s eyes widened incredulously before they narrowed and her hand clamped around my arm. “Girl!”I couldn’t even struggle. My head felt too heavy, my chest too hot.“Did you know too?!” I spat, my voice wavering with the force of my accusation. She reared her head back, like my boldness had physically struck her. Chapter 36Amber’s POV“You heard that?” I whispered to Alpha Taylor at the same moment Delilah turned around and yelled in a loud voice.“Who’s there?!”Hair stood on the back of my neck as goosebumps rose along my arms. I took a few steps forward but Taylor held my arm and pushed me behind him protectively.“Show yourself!” He growled, the air shaking with his alpha power as I held my breath.Who was that? A lab nurse who saw us? Or maybe…. My mind went blank, all my senses numbed as a young girl stepped out of the corner. At least that was what I thought she was. A girl. Because her form was so mangled between wolf and human, I could barely make any other details out.“By the goddess,” Delilah swore softly. In front of me, I could feel Taylor’s rage. He kept silent but his hands balled to fists by his side, a vein ticking at the side of his head. The little girl-wolf was shaking. She slowly walked out, looking at us with fearful eyes and trembling so badly. With a jolt I realized.

Chapter 34SILVER MOON PALACEThe Beta’s wife was very tired. She used to be stronger, able to run for hours on little to no sleep, but pregnancy had taken its toll on her. Now, Mina ignored the noise she heard from afar, sighing softly as she resumed her slumber.“You sniveling little bitch! How dare you!”Her heart missed a beat, all sleep disappearing at her husband’s first wife’s yell. Her wolf whined in alarm, a tiny bit of fear running down her spine. She should get up, open her eyes and maybe say something to appease the angry woman’s footsteps stalking towards her.But Mina balled her hands into fists. She had had enough of Lysandra’s cruelty. Making a pointed note of moaning in comfort, she snuggled even deeper into the bed.“GET OUT OF MY BED!!”Mina frowned, wincing as she felt Lysandra snatch the bed covers away from her body. She opened her eyes lazily, raising a brow as she realised they had an audience. The bedroom door was ajar and several maids hung around watching

Chapter 33Amber’s POVHeat flooded my cheeks as I cleared my throat awkwardly.“I… um. We weren’t—I mean…” I tried to move back, then my feet snagged on the pile of clothes. “Shit!” I stumbled and started to fall but Taylor caught my wrist just in time.“Easy,” he chuckled, raising a brow in amusement. How could he be so calm after… after everything! I pulled my hand back, cradling my wrist like it burned, and then I turned to face an unimpressed Delilah.“I don’t know what you guys have going on,” She frowned, waving her hand between both of us. “But wrap it up. We’re here on a mission. Not for… whatever this is,”Goddess. I was so flushed, it felt like the ground should open up and swallow me. But Vera, the horny little minx, still whined when I looked at him.“Alright, I’m leaving,” Taylor chuckled, raising his hands up in surrender. “Please help her… the ribbons of her training suit are stuck,”With that, he slipped out of the dressing room. The second he left, silence filled th
