Tehila's POV

The voice calling my name was too perfect. That was the problem. Zane never sounded that smooth, that controlled. His voice always carried an edge of roughness, especially when he was worried. This version was polished like glass, and just as fake.

But Dalton couldn't tell the difference.

He started crawling toward the sound, dragging himself through the dirt with trembling arms. His fever had peaked, sweat soaking through his clothes despite the morning chill.

"Stop," I hissed, grabbing his arm.

He shook me off with surprising strength. "We need to find them. Need to—"

"It's not real!"

"Sounds real." His words slurred together. "Sounds like help."
