LOGINKADE POV
I had been tracking the Silver Blood for weeks now, before she literally ran into my territory. Well, not into it exactly, more like collapsed at the edge of it, glowing like a fucking beacon and crying silver tears that actually shimmered in the moonlight. Dramatic as hell, but I couldn't blame her. Rejection was brutal enough without your dormant bloodline deciding to wake up in front of half the werewolf population. I'd watched the whole thing from the treeline. The Silvermoon Pack's Lunar Blessing had been the talk of the region for weeks. Alpha Thorne Ashford finally coming of age to find his mate, all the neighboring packs sending their eligible daughters like it was some kind of supernatural power ball. I had only gone to observe, to see if the rumors about Council Elder Clearwater's daughter being pre-selected were true. They were. What I hadn't expected was the fragile looking Omega girl with dark hair and desperate eyes to be his actual fated mate. Or for him to reject her so publicly. Or for her to turn out to be the thing I'd been searching for since I was exiled five years ago. A Silver Blood. A real, living, breathing Silver Blood. I adjusted the unconscious girl in my arms as I navigated through the forest. She was lighter than I'd expected, all delicate bones and soft curves. Her skin still held a faint silver shimmer, like moonlight trapped under the surface. Beautiful, Deadly, Perfect. "Boss," Marcus's voice crackled through the radio clipped to my belt. "We've got Silvermoon wolves at the border. Ten of them. They're demanding we return the girl." I smiled. "Tell them to wait, I'll be there in five." "They're not happy." "Good." I took my time getting to the border, letting them stew. The longer they waited, the more agitated they'd get, and agitated wolves made mistakes. Besides, I was curious to see just how much Thorne valued what he'd thrown away. Five minutes later, I emerged from the forest into the clearing that marked the official border between pack lands and my territory. Ten Silvermoon wolves stood in formation, all of them armed. Leading them was a Beta I recognized, tall, blonde, built like a tank. "Kade," he growled, his hand on his weapon. "Return Sera Blackwood. Now." I raised an eyebrow, adjusting Sera's weight in my arms. "No." "That's not a request....." "And that wasn't a negotiation," I cut him off, my voice cold. "She crossed into my territory, that makes her mine." Garrett's jaw clenched. "She's a member of the Silvermoon Pack. You have no right...." "Your Alpha just publicly rejected her in front of half the region," I said, letting amusement show in my tone. "So tell me, Garrett, is she still really a member of your pack? Or did Thorne throw her away like trash?" A female wolf with red hair stepped forward—Maya, Sera's friend. Her eyes were red rimmed, desperate. "Please. We just want to know she's safe. She's my friend." "Then maybe your Alpha shouldn't have humiliated her." I turned to leave. "We're done here." "You can't just take her!" Garrett snarled, and I heard the sound of weapons being drawn. I stopped, glancing back over my shoulder. The smile I gave them was all teeth. "Can't I? You're standing on neutral territory, about to threaten the Rogue King over a girl your pack rejected. How do you think that's going to play out?" The wolves shifted uneasily. They knew as well as I did that they were outmatched. My territory might be labeled "rogue land," but I had more fighters than most established packs. And unlike pack wolves who played by Council rules, my wolves fought dirty. "Tell your Alpha," I continued, my voice dropping to something dangerous, "that if he wants her back, he can come ask me himself. If he has the balls." Garrett's face flushed with rage. "This is an act of war." "No, this is me picking up what your Alpha threw away." I met his eyes directly, letting him see exactly how little I cared about his threats. "Now get off my border before I decide you've overstayed your welcome." For a moment, I thought Garrett might actually be stupid enough to attack. His hand tightened on his weapon, his wolf rising in his eyes. Then Maya grabbed his arm. "Garrett, don't. We can't win this fight." Smart girl. Garrett's lip curled in a snarl, but he backed down. "Alpha Thorne will come for her." "I'm counting on it," I said, then walked away, dismissing them completely. Behind me, I heard furious muttering, the sound of feet stomping back toward pack territory. Good. Let them run back to their Alpha with their tails between their legs. Let Thorne know that the girl he'd rejected was now under my protection and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it. Marcus met me halfway back to the compound, falling into step beside me. He was my second-in-command, a scarred wolf with silver running through his dark hair and eyes that missed nothing. "You enjoyed that way too much," he said dryly. "Watching pack wolves squirm? Always." I glanced down at Sera. Her face was peaceful in sleep, but I could feel the power still under her skin. "Did you see their faces when they realized who she was?" "Half of them looked terrified. The other half looked like they wanted to drag her back and lock her in a cage." Marcus paused. "Are you sure about this, Kade? Harboring a Silver Blood is going to bring us attention we don't need." "We already have attention. Might as well make it worth while." I shifted Sera's weight. "Besides, she's exactly what we've been looking for." Marcus was quiet for a moment. "The Council is going to lose their minds." "That's the plan."SERAI couldn't stay inside.I knew Kade had told me to wait, to stay safe, but the need to see what was happening pulled at me like a physical force. I moved to the window, pressing my face close to the glass. The compound gates were opening.A figure walked through, and even from this distance, I could tell she was beautiful, tall, with long dark hair that fell in waves down her back. She moved with the kind of confidence I'd never had, like she owned every inch of the ground she stepped on.Rogues parted for her, some nodding in recognition, others watching with wary eyes. She was looking for someone. Her gaze swept the compound until it landed on Kade, who stood near the training grounds with Marcus beside him.Even from here, I saw Kade's body go rigid. The woman, Cassandra smiled. Not a warm smile, something sharper.I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I didn't need to. The way she moved closer to him, the way her hand reached out to touch his arm, the familiar way she ti
SERAI paced Kade's sitting room like a caged animal, my footsteps taking a path in the wooden floor. Through the window, I watched rogues move in formation across the compound, weapons ready, faces hard. They were preparing for war and I was stuck inside like a child sent to her room."You'll create a hole in the floor," Elena said from her chair, not looking up from the herbs she was grinding."I should be out there." I turned from the window, frustration burning in my chest. "I'm the one Aldric wants, i should be helping.""You are helping by staying alive." Elena finally looked at me, her expression gentle but firm. "Kade needs to know you're safe so he can focus on defending this compound. You running around out there would only distract him.""I'm not some helpless Omega anymore," I snapped. "Yesterday I destroyed a tree with my power and today I'm supposed to hide in the house and wait?""Yesterday you also nearly lost control of that power," Elena reminded me. "Training and re
SERAMy body screamed as I collapsed onto the bed. Every muscle ached from morning training, but underneath the pain was something else, something I'd never felt before.Power.I stared at my hands, half-expecting them to glow silver. They looked normal now, but I knew better. I had destroyed a tree with a thought. I had made the Rogue King look at me with respect.I wasn't the invisible Omega anymore.A knock sounded at the door. "Come in," I said, sitting up.Elena entered carrying a tray of food. The smell hit me, roasted chicken, vegetables, fresh bread and my stomach growled."Thought you might be hungry," she said with that warm smile. "You've earned it."I took the tray, suddenly starving. "Thank you."Elena sat in the chair by the window. "You did well this morning, the whole compound is talking about it.""They're probably talking about how I destroyed a tree," I muttered between bites."They're talking about how you're the strongest wolf they've ever seen," Elena leaned forw
*KADE*I knew Sera hadn't slept.I'd heard her pacing in the room above mine from midnight until dawn. The mate bond severance was hitting her hard, phantom pains, emotional turmoil, the desperate confusion of a wolf whose world had just been ripped apart.I'd seen it before. Usually, it didn't end well. But Sera wasn't usual, she was a Silver Blood, and that changed everything.I was already in the kitchen when she appeared just after dawn, looking exhausted but determined. Dark circles shadowed her eyes, but her shoulders were squared, her chin lifted. She'd dressed in the training clothes I'd sent to her room, practical, functional, ready to work.Good."Couldn't sleep?" I asked, though I already knew the answer."No." She moved to the coffee pot. "When do we start?"No pleasantries, no complaints. Just straight to business. This girl had been publicly humiliated less than twenty-four hours ago, and here she was, ready to fight back."Finish your coffee," I said. "We start in ten."
SERA POV Blood drained from my face. "Thorne is here?" "With fifty wolves," the scarred man Marcus repeated. His eyes were fixed on Kade, waiting for orders. "They're armed, He's not playing around." Kade's expression didn't change, but I felt the temperature in the room drop. "How long?" "Five minutes. They're at the border. Thorne is demanding to speak with you. Now." Marcus paused. "He looks unstable. His wolf is close to the surface." "Tell him I'll be there in ten minutes," Kade said calmly. "Kade......." "Ten minutes. Let him wait." Kade's smile was cold. "If he wants to start a war on my territory, he can wait a little longer." Marcus nodded and left. Elena had gone very still by the stove, her hand gripping a spatula like a weapon. I stood up, my chair scraping against the floor. "I should go with you." "Absolutely not." Kade's voice was flat, final. "He came for me. This is my fault—" "This is his fault," Kade corrected, moving closer. "He rejected you, Sera. He m
SERA POV "I need to go home," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Let me go. Please." "No." The flat refusal stunned me. "What do you mean, no?" "I mean no, you're not going anywhere." Kade stood, and I realized just how tall he was. Easily six-three, broad shouldered, moving with a predator's grace. "Do you have any idea what you are, Sera?" "I'm..." I stopped. What was I? An Omega? A rejected mate? A girl who'd somehow exploded with silver light and made an entire pack drop to their knees. "I don't know." "You're a Silver Blood." He said it like it should mean something. When I just stared at him blankly, he sighed. "Your grandmother never told you the old stories?" My grandmother. A flash of memory, sitting by the fire while she told tales of ancient wolves with silver eyes who could challenge the Moon Goddess herself. I'd thought they were just fairy tales. "Those are legends," I whispered. "Legends based on truth." Kade moved to the window, looking out at the forest
