The rest of today’s paperwork didn’t concern my pack directly. A few of the Alphas were planning a get-together to help their unmated wolves to reach out to other packs. In asking for my involvement, I agreed, but only as long as I didn’t need to do anything. We didn’t have the space right now to house so many wolves from so many packs.
I’d need to put the word out on the community board for anyone who wanted to come. It was in four months, and I would have time to work out the logistics. By then, Valerie would be my Luna, and technically this would fall under her work. Something I would be happy to give her. Maybe keep her out of my office.
“What’s with the sourpuss face?”
I looked up to see Charles, and I realized I was grimacing. “Nothing. Paperwork. How can I help?”
He scratched the back of his head. “Noah called me. He…um…he said you need to come in three days down to The
“I’ve never…in my entire experience…have I seen this extensive of a lock come from this kind of rune. And I’ve seen Solaris’ mind. Holy shit. You want to talk about a mind trap.”Sitting down on the floor, she rested her chin on her hand as she stared at the door. I realized after a few minutes she would not move from that spot. Leaning against the wall, I waited for her to say something. She didn’t, and I felt time become a blur. Had it been minutes or hours? Did it flow differently here than it did outside? I thought maybe I would doze off, but apparently you couldn’t within your subconscious or whatever this place was.At some point, Eros had joined us in the room. He sat behind Lor and she leaned against him as she stared at the door. It felt like hours before she finally shouted into the room. I jumped, as did Eros.“Fuck! That was a pain.”Getting up, she reached out for one
I pulled into the parking lot of The Wayward Tap. It was completely empty, and I figured it would be since it was eight in the morning. However, the usual signs that normally hung in the windows were gone. Using my cane, I walked into the bar, pushing the door slightly with my shoulder. My eyes widened as I took in the bar’s state. The entire space had been cleared out. There were no tables, no chairs, and even the bar stools were gone. The barrels were gone, and the bottles, glasses, and even the tap handles were missing as well. Everything had been stripped bare, with no lights or posters or pictures on the walls. Finn walked down the steps and seemed slightly surprised to see me standing in the bar. A smirk came onto his face.“Still struggling to walk, Alpha?”I rolled my eyes. “Yack it up. Your mate did a number on me.”“Not enough if you ask me, but today should make up for it.” He smirked.“I&r

***Silas’ POV***I ran my hand through my hair. There was an issue with one of the main buildings of the hospital, and there were three exorbitant estimates to get it fixed. The issue wasn’t really the money. It was the fact that I might as well just have the whole hospital rebuilt. We did it with the school. Might as well do the hospital now. It was getting old now, and if I was going to spend over fifty-grand to get just a single part of the hospital fixed, I might as well just fix the whole damn building. It was never really my forte dealing with new remodels. Once I approved the budget and exactly what was going to happen, I just agreed to any changes requested after that. I’d already been told I made of mess of things when it came to that kind of work.‘You passed it on to our mate.’I rolled my eyes. ‘Eros, if you’re not going to be
I hadn’t seen the two of them since the meeting I walked out on. It was four days ago, and part of me was a little surprised that Silas hadn’t broken down the door to yell at me. His mobility was probably more of an issue than anything. Today I was in a t-shirt and jeans, not intending to hide my bump from a group I considered safe. However, as I walked closer to them, their eyes drifted down to the bottom of my shirt.“What can I do for you?”Their heads snapped back up. Sam stepped up, though. “Nate, you need to speak to Silas.”“I need to? I don’t need to do anything. I’m done talking to him because all it does it end up being a fight with him. His heart was never on the line, and I realize that now. So neither is mine.” I crossed my arms over chest.Sam looked down. “Please, Nate. Don’t leave. You’ve been part of the pack for too long. I…” His words trailed off as he fiddled with the edge of his shirt.Smiling, I took Sam in my arms and hugged him. It was enough to make him comple
The table immediately erupted in chaos, but I smiled. Silas was yelling at me, as were Sam and Charles. Chris stood, trying to calm everyone down, and Tim had come in after the commotion. Standing up, I ignored all of them and took my folders with me. Pushing in chair and handing Tim my signed paperwork, I nodded to him.“If you need anything else from me, you have my number. Thank you for helping us in this matter.”Walking out of the room, I heard them calling after me, but I didn’t turn back. Aelia was right. I needed to chase my dream, not run from it. Not only did she give me an out, but she gave me the best way to protect my pups. All of them.As soon as I made it outside, I looked up at the clear blue sky. Barking out a laugh, I shook my head. Throwing my middle finger up at the sky, I hoped Aelia would see it. For some reason, I knew she would be flipping me the bird right back. That was her way. The Solaris way. It was Solaris saving my ass now, and I could never repay her.C
