“Any news?” I asked Jaxon, who walked into my office, plopping on the couch.

“Nothing. We haven’t found anything. The ones we interrogated were hired by some omega who disappeared,” he explained.

The entire day, I have been trying to find out who attacked last night, but it’s like a dead end.

“Omega? Surely an omega can’t have enough resources to hire such skilled mercenaries. It can’t be possible.”

“I know,” he said, rubbing his forehead.

“How’s Marissa?”

Marissa took a big blow trying to protect him during the attack, and even though she’s in the hospital, she asked him to find out who did this.

“She’s fine. Healing, just her pride hurt,” he chuckles, his eyes sparkling as he talks about her.

“Well, we know how she feels being caught off guard.” I laughed, and he nodded his head, sitting back, but his eyes were on me.
