Kyle.

Her smile widened, causing her eyes to shine with mischief. “I knew I liked you,” she said, walking toward me. I didn’t bother to move back or show my irritation.

The one thing I didn't like—and one thing she knew I had never liked—was someone being so touchy with me or invading my personal space. She was doing all of that in one day, so I wondered what she was thinking.

“What do you want, Hannah?” I asked, irritated that she was beating around the bush instead of getting to the point.

She smiled as she brought her hand up to my chest and trailed her fingers down to my midsection. I tried my best not to show how irritated and disgusted I was at having her hand on me. “What I want…is quite simple,” she started, but that didn’t answer my question.

“You know you and I have come a long way. We do things for each other without asking any questions. As long as we both get what we want, there’s no stopping us from doing it.” She paused and looked at me.

I was trying hard not to let my irritation show, but knowing Hannah, I knew it wouldn’t go unnoticed. She could read the expressions of even the most stoic people, and until now, I still didn’t know how she did it. It was like a superpower of hers—reading others' facial expressions.

“I know what you must be thinking right now: 'I should hurry the fuck up and get to the point.' But don’t worry, Kyle. I wouldn’t want to waste your time or mine, so here’s what you’re going to do.” She paused again, then pulled her hand away and moved back.

She walked over to the table on the other side of the room, and that’s when I noticed a bag sitting on it. She picked it up and rummaged through it before turning around and stretching out a picture she had taken out of the bag, handing it to me. Without saying anything, I took it from her and frowned when I saw who was in it. If I remembered correctly, this was the same man who had spanked her ass while she was walking by the roadside the other day.

I looked at the picture, and she was already staring at me with a smile.

“I can see you know who that is, so I don’t need to explain,” she said.

I sure did know who he was—an asshole who boasted about how soft her ass was and how he couldn’t wait to have it. I wanted to punch the guy in the face, but Hannah held me back. Back then, I thought she didn’t want me to get into a public brawl because of her reputation, but seeing this now made me think otherwise. Hannah always has a plan, and I couldn’t wait to hear what it was.

I lowered the picture, the frown still evident on my face. “What do you want from me?”

“I want you to teach him a lesson.” I watched her closely as she walked over to the door and opened it to the balcony. I had no choice but to follow her; clearly, she wasn’t done talking and had something important to say.

“I know you must think I’m doing this just because he spanked my ass, but that’s not it. Men like him shouldn’t exist. Men who think women are nothing but toys to play with should cease to exist. They need to understand what women can do if they’re trampled on.” I waited for her to continue.

“I want you to cut off both his arms when you get him.” She pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up. “I mean, he wouldn’t be able to spank another lady’s ass if both of his arms were chopped off, right?” she asked with a sick grin, and I said nothing.

It surprised me that she wasn’t asking me to kill this man. Hannah had killed men for less, so her letting this one live was unexpected.

“You don’t want him dead?” I asked.

She took a drag from her cigarette, blew out the smoke, and shook her head. “If I wanted him dead, I would have told you, Kyle. I just want you to give him a warning, and while you’re doing it, make sure he knows why.”

My frown deepened. “You could have asked one of your men to go after him. Why me?”

She exhaled another puff of smoke before turning to face me. “Because I want you to do this, and I thought maybe you wouldn’t complain since I’ve had what you’re looking for for years now.” My fist clenched at my side.

“And besides, you wouldn’t want a man like this to do the same thing to another woman,” she added.

She was right. The one thing I despised was a man who couldn’t accept the word ‘No.’ They always believed they were better than every woman, and that was a serious problem. The other reason I was willing to do this was that I had been searching for the man I believed was responsible for my mother’s death. After all these years, I had been unable to find him, even with my skills. I had no choice but to involve Hannah, and right now, it seemed that I hadn’t made a mistake in doing so.

“Fine. When do you want me to do this?” I asked, staring ahead at the bright sky.

The sun was already out, and my eyes were burning, screaming at me to get some sleep, but I fought it back.

“Tonight,” she replied, and I let out a breath of relief I didn’t realize I was holding. I was glad she didn’t want it done this morning.

“You look so awful; maybe you should get some sleep and eat something. You look so pale,” she said as she moved forward and held my cheeks. Instinctively, I leaned back, causing her to frown.

Thankfully, she didn’t mention anything about it.

She extinguished her cigarette and tossed it into the little garden before walking back into the room.

“I should leave now,” She muttered. About fucking time.

She picked up her bag and walked over to the door to leave.

“I promise to get this done tonight, and afterward, I want whatever information you have sent over immediately,” I spoke up just as she was about to leave.

With her hand on the doorknob, she paused and looked over her shoulder. “I’ll be in touch.” And then she was gone.

Fucking hell!!

I crumpled the picture in my hand and glared at the closed door. I need to do this, if I want to give justice to my mother then I have to do this and get this fucking information and once I do, I can’t wait to lay my hands on the bastards who thought it was a nice idea to pick on a woman who had no interest in their fucking business.

I stared at the picture again before locking off my doors and going into bed. Before sleeping off, I grabbed my phone and typed into it, the image on the screen became visible and just when I was sure the other person was still safe, I closed my eyes and slept off praying I wouldn’t wake up screaming the roof down.

Emilia. We spent a long time at the restaurant, and thankfully, Camilla didn’t mention the gift or the anonymous sender throughout lunch. We talked about a few other topics before leaving after Nicholas received a call from his mom concerning his little sister. “Are you sure you don’t want this?” Camilla asked as we walked to her car. She had offered to drop me off since I didn’t have a car—not because I couldn’t get one, but because I didn’t need one. I had too much going on in my life right now to worry about having a car. “Yes, Cam,” I replied, taking a deep breath when I noticed the concerned look on her face. “Look, Camilla, I know you’re doing this because you care about me and want to see me thriving, but I really don’t want to date or be in a relationship with anyone at the moment,” I said as gently as possible. Her eyes searched mine, and I held her gaze, wanting her to see just how serious I was. I didn’t want to date—now or ever. “Fine, I’ll let this be,” she said, and

Emilia.Everything was back to normal—or at least that’s what I thought after finding out my father was a killer. That wasn’t the only way to describe him, but I definitely wasn’t going to bring back all the memories I had kept aside. Sometimes it feels like all of this is still a dream, and there are moments when I want to wake up and face my reality.I have seen and discovered things about my family, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I find out more unsettling truths in my life.It still feels like a dream to know that my father could do such a thing to a man he once called his best friend. It still feels surreal that he killed my mother—the woman he always claimed to love. I guess he didn’t love her enough to spare her life in order to hide his secret. Even though he wasn’t here, I hate him so much. I hate him for almost taking my sister from me so early. I hate him for putting her in that condition. But right now, I am thankful that everything is over. I am grateful we don’t have to d
