Chapter Four - Found

Letisha Hearst - Carter

My hands shakingly let go of the door knob after seeing him standing right on our doorstep. He is here.

Sebastian is here, he looked for me. How did he find me? T-This can’t be happening, he can’t be here or be with us ever.

He looked at me from head to toe. Sebastian almost burst into tears upon seeing me, that is not the kind of expression I am expecting from him.

For three years, I left him without a word. He should loathe me for running away from him without explaining why I had to leave.

I want to apologize and hug him because only the heavens know how much I have missed him but still, fear took over my body as I stepped back when he took a step forward.

“I found you at last, Letisha, why did you run away from me?” Sebastian smiled genuinely, the one that once made my knees weak.

He was the only one who gave those kinds of effects on me, he was the only man that I loved earnestly.

But I can’t be with him, we can’t be with him. He is someone we need to avoid because of what he is.

“I-I…looked for you for many years, I have a lot of things to say to you, but I can’t seem to open up my mouth now that you are here standing right in front of me,” He bit his lower lip, there was the look of yearning in his eyes.

“I am glad that you are alright, can I please…hold you?” Sebastian nervously asked before he took another step forward.

The thoughts of him gaining fangs with blood all over his study room flooded my mind. Fear. One thing that didn’t slip my mind, haunting me even after three years have passed.

“N-No, please, leave us alone!” I nervously screamed. Before I could make a step forward to kick him out of our house, I gasped after seeing our son walk towards to greet him.

“Who are you, mister?” He tilted his innocent head. Sebastian looked at me after seeing our son and his eyes flicked from black to yellow, black to red.

He is indeed a hybrid of werewolf and vampire. I need to get us away from him again, “T-Tain, come back here,”

Tain looked at me confused, but he did follow my request before walking to my side, his eyes not leaving Sebastian.

“Is he a dangerous person, Mommy? Why are you panting? Are you scared?” Tain worriedly asked while tugging my shirt.

I researched those eyes when I left him. I saw it back then too, his eyes shifting into two different colors.

Reading novels about vampires and werewolves has always been my thing during my teen years. I could claim that he is somewhat a vampire or werewolf, but since there are two colors he could be a hybrid.

Does he even realize that he is doing that? I bit my lower lip, I am terrified.

“Mommy?” Sebastian looked like he couldn’t say anything more. He was too caught off guard, who wouldn’t be?

Our child looks just like him but it doesn’t matter, he needs to go. “T-Tisha, be honest with me, is he my child?” Sebastian calmly asked.

I averted my gaze, “I-It doesn't matter if it’s yours or not, I-I don’t want you here with us please go away!”

“H-How could you keep this from me, he looks just like me!” Sebastian collapsed on the doorstep and that surprised us.

His hands cupped his face, “I wasn’t there with you, you were alone raising him, I need explanations,”

I almost looked away after hearing him say those words, he was calm, but I bet he wanted to burst out because of his shock.

He was always kind and gentle towards me, which makes me feel even more guiltier that I left him.

I don’t know why I couldn’t bring to ask him some questions that will help me understand his appearance, “Tisha, please talk to me,”

“L-Leave, please, I-I don’t need you here,” I whispered before looking away. I can’t bear to see him that way.

I badly wanted him to leave, but even if I wanted to do that right now, I don’t want my son to see me like this.

“Please don’t cry,” Tain immediately approached him to give him some napkins. I don’t know why I didn’t stop him from doing that.

“Are you lost? We will help you right, Mom?” He looked at me while smiling. I don’t know what to say to him.

Sebastian raised his head. I know that even if I won’t tell him, he could feel that it was his son who is standing right in front of him.

“C-Can I hug you?” He anxiously asked. I wasn’t hesitant, but my body couldn’t move.

Seeing him depressed and tearing up like that made my heart melt. My whole senses were telling me to be nicer.

Tain looked at me first before nodding, “Of course, but before that, may I please ask your name?”

“Mommy told me I should never talk to strangers, you are a stranger to me for now,” He told him, making Sebastian chuckle.

“You’re so bright, your mom must be so proud of you,” He crouched to level with his gaze, “I’m Sebastian, and you are?”

“Edward Tain Hearst!” He greeted happily while shaking his dad’s hands, “You can hug me now,”

Sebastian didn’t wait for any second to hug him. I almost teared up seeing them that way, reunited and happy.

“There, there, you are okay now mister, please cheer up,” Tain tapped his back gently with his small limbs, which made me bite my lower lip.

I finally got the courage to take my son away from him without looking at him, “P-Please leave,”

Unfortunately, the rain poured outside and thunder surrounded the skies, “Mommy, he will get sick if he gets out in the rain, can he stay here for a while?”

I looked at my son and him, they looked exactly alike as if they were twins. I peered my eyes outside, it is unsafe to go out in a province with weather like this.

Are the heavens doing this on purpose? “O-Okay, but just for tonight,”

Sebastian smiled at my approval. Tain looked relieved as he invited him to our dinner as well, I decided to let them be and prepared the guest room for him.

“Tisha,” I flinched when someone spoke from the door. He always spooks me because I don’t feel his presence whenever he enters the room, just like back then.

“Sebastian, you will only stay the night and that is it,” I told him before caressing the mattress of his bed.

“Can we please talk? I have a lot of questions for you,” He sounded like he was pleading, but I shook my head before biting my lower lip.

“I-I can’t, we can’t talk, you are lucky my son is here or I would kick you out of the house,” I rudely told him.

He looked at me intently, “Thank you for letting me stay, but I still hope that I could speak with you,”

I decided to walk to the door after he said those words, “Good night, Sebastian,” I muttered while clutching my chest.

“Good night, my beautiful wife,” I closed my eyes after he said those words before walking away.

“Tain? You will sleep with me tonight, okay?” I called him downstairs and he only screamed the word ‘okay!’.

After doing my evening rituals, I made sure that all of the doors were locked before running upstairs.

I stopped in the hallways and stared at the door where the guest room was. I bit my lower lip before entering our room.

“Mommy!” Tain happily called after he saw me enter. I smiled before approaching him and carried him to my lap as we sat on the bed.

“Mommy, Sebastian seemed really nice, but I hate it that he is sad,” He told me while playing with his toy, “I don’t know why he cried a while ago, but I didn’t like to see him that way,”

“You’re too kind to care for someone sweetie,” I told him before snuggling on his neck, “Tain?”

“Yes, Mommy?” He tilted his head, his bright blue eyes met mine. I couldn’t tell him what I wanted, I hate to restrict him from his dad here.

“N-Nothing, good night sweetie, let’s have a good day tomorrow, okay?” I kissed his forehead before we slept right next to each other.

“Night, Mommy!” He snuggled with his toy and instantly fell asleep. I stared at him before combing his hair, I lay on the bed and thought about him again.

I just still can’t believe that he is here. I never thought that he would actually still go and look for me after I left.

He was all that I could think about that night. It took me a while to fall asleep as the memories of our past invaded my mind.

I could hear birds calling out to their kin outside of the house. I grunted before rubbing my eyes and realized that the rain was still strong, “Tain?”

There was no sign of him on the bed, “Tain!” I ran outside to look for him. I reached the kitchen and saw those two bonding.

“Good morning, Mommy! Are you alright?” He curiously asked while eating some pancakes. Sebastian only looked at me from head to toe.

“Y-Yes, I am alright,” I immediately hugged myself when I realized what I was wearing. A night dress without any bra on, my nipples are probably protruding this early in the morning.

He averted his gaze before coughing, “Good morning, I cooked pancakes, would you like to have one?”

I didn’t say anything, “Um, I hope you didn’t mind me using the kitchen, he said he was hungry and didn’t want to wake you,”

“And he is a good cook, Mommy!” Tain happily beamed, making me smile because his eyes were twinkling.

“Thank you, but you shouldn’t have,” I told him after he gave me a plate of pancakes, it was shaped like a heart.

“I insist, it’s a thank you for letting me stay the night here,” He casually told me while looking straight into my eyes.

“It’s not necessary, I did what I had to do,” I mumbled before eating, flinching when thunder made noises upon the skies.

Tain held onto my hands, but there wasn’t any sign of fear on his face. It was as if he noticed I was startled.

Someone also held my shoulders on the other side, it was him. I want to chuckle at the action they both did, they’re truly alike.

“Mommy, I think there is a typhoon,” Tain looked outside, the sky was dark and the rain was massive.

“Yes, I think there is, are you afraid?” I approached him before kissing his cheeks.

“No Mommy, but I think Sebastian has to stay here again, he can’t go out in a weather like this, he will be sick,” Tain pointed out.

I looked at my husband. He was smiling ear to ear as if he had won a lottery, I almost rolled my eyes before clenching my fists.

He did this on purpose, didn’t he? “A-Alright, he will stay here until the typhoon is over, okay?”

“Yay! Do you know how to play board games?” Tain asked his dad. He immediately nodded before approaching him.

I stood up from my chair to get some maple syrup, but I really just don’t want to be close to him right now.

He is only wearing his sleeveless shirt and everything seems a little bit hot when he is around, which is strange.

I should not be feeling this. It must leave my mind as much as possible or things around here will get worse.

“Hm, what board games do you have here?” Sebastian asked while following him to the living room.

I kept my eyes on them, it was a little bit fun to watch because they look exactly alike. I wiped my lips using a napkin after drinking some milk.

“I only have a snake ladder, do you like to play that?” Tain asked while pouting, his pinkish adorable lips visible.

“Of course, but we need three players for this,” Sebastian stated. They both raised their gazes at me before smiling.

How can two people look so much alike? Except for the fact that he has a beard, but without that, they really look like a replica of each other!
