When Love Turns Cold.

"Are you coming over tonight?" My boyfriend Monty tucks a strand of my caramel hair behind my ear, his thumb gliding down the shell all the way down to my earlobe.

My lips part as I lean in and whisper into his ear, "I'm sorry, I have to finish packing, You know, I got accepted to that university I applied to. How about you help me pack the last things?"

"With your dad around? No thanks," He shook his head softly and finished with a soft kiss on my lips.

He's afraid of my father after my dad scolded him when he found us kissing in my bedroom, behind a closed door.

"That was a long time ago, and it's our last night." I pout, putting down my books on the edge of my locker. I wrap my arms around his waist, we're not going to see each other for a very long time, and I don't want to waste a single second of the little time we have left.

But even so, I have to get out of here. We're all graduating tomorrow and I have been saving up to go to university for years.

Over the past five years, I have done every job there is in the pack, well everything I could and was allowed.

My parents and I have a deal, and if I have at least half of the amount to help pay for my tuition, I can leave the pack and go study.

Everything was going according to my plan, and the only thing holding me back was the man in front of me, the man I loved the most. But he could never let me be upset, and he assured me that our bond would never change because of distance. He would come to visit me in the human world, and I could come back on vacation.

When I graduate from University, I could come back for the mating ceremony and get married to him, and he even promised that we could build a house in the far end of the territory, away from everyone and everything.

I was reluctant, but it can work.

I want it to work.

In the face of my petulance, Monty smiles seemingly helplessly and says softly, "Tomorrow morning, you come to my house."

"Uh-huh!" I nodded my head yes with wide eyes.

We were still basking in the sweetness like no one else was around when a loud bang interrupted us.

The loud bang makes every muscle tense as I freeze, and my eyes lock on the devil himself.

"Get a fucking hotel room when you're in heat!" Blaze kicks off against the lockers and combs his fingers through his dark chocolate hair before waltzing towards the exit.

Blaze is Monty's best best friend, our pack's next Alpha, but he's heartless and a jerk.

I hate him and he hates me- and that's the one thing we have in common.

I let go of Monty and said coldly, "Go to hell. Blaze," As usual, he doesn't care about my comeback and looks at us teasingly with a raised eyebrow.

"Blaze, that's not cool."

Monty lowers to his haunches and picks up my books that fell out of my open locker.

Apparently, he's equally unconcerned. Deflating and spreading his hands, he says, "Am I wrong? You guys want to perform a porno here for me? Then start."

"You!" I was just about to scold him when my best friend Nicky spoke up first, "Blaze, you're so bad," There was a smirk in her tone, as if she was flirting. She has been trying to get Blaze's attention for years, but it's an impossible task, that asshole is simply frigid.

He picks his own girl's, and it's never the other way around.

Sure enough, Blaze doesn't answer her, but lifts his chin toward us and asks, "Want me to drive you guys back? I'm tired of this place."

That's the only thing that he's said that I'd agree too.

I am tired of this place too.

Ten minutes later. As I walk into the house, it's completely empty and abnormally quiet. sigh in relief as I stack my books on the kitchen table.

I head up to my room to finish packing the last bit of things I need to before I head out.

I lied when I told Monty I still had a lot to pack, but that's only because I had a surprise for him.

How could I allow us to miss our last night!

It was just dark when I arrived at his door. I smile when I look up at his window and I see his silhouette as he takes off his shirt.

A warm sensation stirs inside of my chest, and I smile excitedly.

Just give me a second darling, I'm coming. I lift my leg, ready to stride up the steps when my eye catches something and I freeze.

My heart stills when another silhouette joins him, that of a girl's with long hair and she drags her hands across his chest before pressing her body to his.

What the hell?

What are they doing? Was I being cheated on? For a moment I simply couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I stop in front of the door to inhale a deep breath as my hand stretches out to feel the door and when it's unlocked. I bite down on my teeth as I silently enter the house of my DEAR cheating boyfriend.

I tip toe up the stairs, careful not to fall or let the basket I had made for us hit any corners, but when I push open his bedroom door, the door creaks and they notice me anyway.
