Chapter 99- Not Even A Smoke Signal

"Hey... I can give you a ride home, you know." Nathan offered again.

Penelope shook her head, "You have done enough. I can't even ask for more. Thank you, Nathan. I know your work schedule must be hectic, yet you never failed to check up on my every day."

Nathan put his hands in his pant pockets and shrugged, "I don't mind doing any of that."

."Well, it means a lot to me, Nate." Penelope said to him. "Is it okay to call you Nate?"

"Sure, Penny." He answered with a smile that displayed his dimples. Nathan was a handsome man. He was as goofy as much as he could be serious when the situation called for it.

Nathan assisted her with a few of her bags to the parking lot where Max was waiting for her.

"Ms. Winters." He quickly stepped out to greet. He could read the sadness etched on her face. It must have been disheartening to be literally abandoned, especially after the arrival of Mrs. King after all these years. He heard the whispers and gossips around the manor.
