She dressed her best, that she was sure of because Amelia had put so much effort in making her look her best.

Her eyes swept through the crowded clubbing hall from the entrance where she stood, she kept wondering whether she should really go in or not.

The club was dim lit, and so she was completely unaware of the attentions and stares coming her way.

Amelia had arrived at her house few minutes after she ended her call. Rushing to her, she'd pulled her into a bone crushing hug as though she knew just how much Elena needed the hug. Few seconds later, she'd released her, and then replaced it with a hard smack on her arm.

Ouch! That hurts. Elena yelled while rubbing her pained arm with a frown on her face.

You scared the shit out of me girl. Amelia snapped back, and she bit her lower lip trying to keep her emotions in check, with narrowed eyes.

I'm sorry. She mumbled, and Amelia sighed, and eyed her weakly. Silence fell comfortably among them, and then Amelia broke it.

What were you doing outside anyways? She asked, and Elena sighed in tiredness, and then masked her face with a little smile in order to hide her sadness and discomfort.

I was waiting for you. Elena replied simply, and Amelia grinned with a thought filled nod.

Right! Who exactly has Nehita in her custody? Amelia asked curiously, and Elena smiled softly again.

She is with my mother's friend for now. Elena told her, and even though Amelia appeared confused, she didn't push it, and Elena was grateful for that.

So she isn't coming home tonight? Amelia asked, and Elena nodded positively.

She will be there for a while; probably till I am able to gather enough money to settle mom's hospital bills. Elena replied, and smiled sadly.

An uncomfortable sad atmosphere had erupted round them, until Amelia grinned wildly, trying to lessen the tension in the air.

How about we go out tonight Lena? You never know, we could find some huge dicks to spring on tonight. Come on girl, let's forget everything and have fun tonight. Amelia said excitedly, and Elena froze at the spot.

There was no way she was going to let Amelia in about her going to see her dad tonight without spilling the whole secrets to her, which was definitely dangerous, as it could put them all at risks, and so the only way was to ask out.

I don't think thats a good idea. Elena resorted calmly, and Amelia narrowed her eyes at her.

Why not? She asked, and Elena took a deep breath before answering.

I have a date tonight. She said simply, and watched Amelia's eyes go as wild as saucers from shock; she was right to be anyways, who would believe that she will be talking about a date.

What? No fucking way. Amelia said after a pause, and laughed mirthlessly. You are kidding right? She asked with a mortified expression on her face, but Elena shook her head in reply, and that was when she gasped.

What? Who is he? How come you never told me about him? Where did you meet him? She asked all in one breath, and Elena gave out a short nervous laugh.

Well, we met on social media, and decided to hang out today. She lied smoothly, and Amelia grinned excitedly.

Is he cute? She asked in excitement, and Elena forced a nod out of herself, still with her forced smile on her face.

"Lier, Lier, pants on fire".

Before she could fully process what was happening, Amelia already dragged her into her apartment to prepare her for her supposed date.

And here she stood, at the entrance of the club, where she was supposed to meet the founder and foundation of her misery, and that was no other person than her dad.

Follow me quietly! She heard someone whisper to her, and she felt a new rush of emotions flow through her, as she realized who it was.

Marco! She said under her breath as she breathed in his scent. For the first time in years, her eyes met with his, and she flushed.

Macro had been her secret crush and friend during her stay with her father, and he was also her father's right hand man, and yet she couldn't help crushing harder.

He smiled at her slightly, and then walked off, which she took as an invitation to follow suit, and she did follow him, through the sweaty dancers in the dance floor, up the stairs that led to the VIP section, till the got to a reserved, and secluded spot.

He sat down on the wild white couch, and tapped the empty space right beside him for her to sit on. Elena swallowed nervously, and slowly sat beside him, but unable to meet his glance.

Lena! He called out softly, and she lifted her eyes to stare at him from beneath her lashes, to behold his handsome face. He was still the dangerous yet handsome and enticing guy she had always had a crush on. Suddenly she remembered how he kissed her on the night she was about to flee from home with her sister and mother, and she unconsciously bit her lower lip from the effect.

You look very beautiful and hot. He said suddenly, with a sincere smile on his face, and she blushed hard.

Thank you! She replied calmly, and then her eyes swept through the environment looking for a certain green eyed, chest nut colored hair and intimidatingly huge man.

Where is the boss? She asked, and Marco smirked.

Funny how you refer to your dad as the boss. He said. Anyways, he couldn't be here, so he sent me as a representative, in order to discuss the terms and conditions of the contract with you.

Elena narrowed her eyes at his smirking face, but was determined to hear it all.

Your job is simple, get this man to fall in love with you in 2 months. He said calmly as he showed her a photo, and she froze.

Elena’s eyes widened in disbelief; her mouth wide agape. It took her a while to fully download what he was saying. When she finally processed what he was saying, her mouth shut tight, and she immediately tried to stand up from his lap. But just when she stood up, he drew her down forcefully, making her land hardly on his thigh. Elena winced. “What, are you going to run away again and pretend as though you do not care about me?” His words were laced with anger and disappointment as he said this, but Elena couldn’t meet his eyes. She was mostly afraid. How could she explain to him that falling in love with her was probably the worst thing he would do in his lifetime. “I am sorry……” She shuttered, her eyes looking everywhere but his face. “I can’t.” She finally finished.Vincent’s hold on tightened, and his face hardened, but he still didn’t let her go. He paused for a while, then he sighed and spoke. “Surely you will be decent enough to give me an explanation, right?” It was obviou

  • The Scoundrel's Hero   Chapter 51

What she needed was more than just time, but if Vincent ever got to the point of being suspicious of her, then she was as good as dead. Elena stayed put, after Duello left, she went over to her own room and shut the door. It was obviously a narrow escape, but that was the least of her worries. Now she was curious as to why her dad was calling her, but what if Vincent found out about her dad. She knew if he did an indept search on her, there was no way he wouldn’t find enough dirt on her. But even though she wanted to tell him, her sister’s life was at stake, and that was what she could never risk, at least not when her father was involved. They would soon be returning to the States, and she knew that it would increase her chances of meeting her dad or even Marcus, and if she was seen with any of them, then the story would certainly be different. Elena’s hands found her heart, and she placed her hand over it, trying her best to remain calm. After some breathing sessions, she went s

  • The Scoundrel's Hero   Chapter 50

The sudden ringing of her phone was like a sudden threat, Elena flayed up, her eyes narrowing frightfully as she saw who the caller was. It was her dad, and he had dreadful timing. She thought deeply, trying to keep herself from trembling so much and giving herself away that something was wrong. She picked up the phone quickly, a way to prevent Vincent from seeing who the caller was, because she couldn’t imagine explaining at all. Elena’s fingers hovered over the screen, and then it moved to the power button, turning it off to silence the ringing of the phone. Her heartbeat was hammering so wildly in her chest as she did this, her eyes refusing to meet Vincent’s, who was probably now staring at her. It was her dad calling, and his calling meant nothing but trouble, and if Vincent found out about him or the truth, then she would be done for, everything would be totally destroyed. Maybe it was her nervousness or maybe the universe was totally against her, because even as she kep

  • The Scoundrel's Hero   Chapter 49

Narrator’s POVThe couples were still caught up in their wheel of passion that every other thing around them became a memory, fast fading away and the reality was just their lips working through each others. He deepened the kiss, pulling her closer, his body pressed against hers. The world blurred, reduced to the maddening sensation of his lips claiming hers. She hated herself for the way her hands tangled in his shirt, for the way she gave in, even for a moment, to the raw need in his touch. Finally, with a surge of willpower, she broke free, pushing her head back to break the kiss."This isn't right," she said, her voice trembling but resolute, but then his lips met the hallow of her neck and she gasped. He kissed, sucked and nibbled the softness of her neck. Elena began to tremble uncontrollably from raw need. She unconsciously moved her head backwards to give his lips more space to continue his righteous torture on her. Elena knew this shouldn’t be happening, but the more she t

  • The Scoundrel's Hero   Chapter 48

Narrator’s POV The two sat opposite each other chatting as though they had been friends for years. Elena felt strangely comfortable with Eric that she almost forgot that this was a revenge plan. “So tell me Lena, can I call you that?” He asked with a calm smile. Elena nodded in response. “What brings you to Paris?” Elena smiled cutely. “Business, I am on a business trip with my boss.” She responded. His eyes widened in surprise. “Really, does that mean you are not staying, I was hoping to buy you dinner tonight, you can at least make it right?” “She will not be available.” Someone said behind them right before Elena could get the chance to reply him. Elena didn’t need to turn to know it was Vincent and so she didn’t turn, she only stared ahead and then back at Eric who was now looking at her questioningly as Vincent came to stand with them. “Sorry who….?” “He's my boss.” Elena replied shortly, cutting Eric’s intended question to a stop. Again he looked very surprise. “Its

  • The Scoundrel's Hero   Chapter 47

Elena’s POVThe meeting with the Mandel executives had ended well. They signed in with our company, which seemed to be a huge success because even though Vincent refused to show it, he was very glad.I watched him with a little smile as he shook hands with the executives, promising them that they would not regret signing in with the company. His mood seemed to lighten throughout the way as we made our way back to where our car was packed. I was deeply tempted to taunt him about the smile on his face that he kept trying to hide, but I decided against it.He seemed to be in a good mood, and it probably was the best time to question him about how I ended up in his room last night. I wanted to know if it was a dream that he had slept beside me, or was it a reality. The thought itself somehow excited me, but believing me there is no way I am accepting that conclusion. Your mom’s surgery is going to happen today. He said out of the blues, and my eyes widened.I thought it was supposed to
