Eva Gibson’s pov
After Austin finally left our house, a bit intoxicated with the remaining beers in the fridge I turned to Olivia and asked her what she was thinking. “Why do you keep indulging with him? He's a pervert and a pain in the ass,” I growled. Shaking her head, she grinned slightly. “Eva, it's wise for us to remain in good favor with the future Alpha. Being his friend is beneficial for both of us. I don't know why you despise him so much.” Gritting my molars I eyed her in disbelief. “He's a whore that preys on the vulnerable females of this pack,” I stated adamantly and she rolled her eyes. “They are just as willing, sis. None of them were forced to have sex with him.” “Unbelievable Olivia. You know that he is constantly staring at you like a creep and wants to get in your panties,” I asserted and she gasped at me. Growing angry, she glared at me, causing my brow to crease as I looked back at her. “Eva, he is my friend and nothing more. If he has those ideas I wouldn't reciprocate them. I view Austin as a brother, a confidant, and nothing more besides he is…” she started then bit her lip. “Is what?!” I demanded that she continue. Shaking her head, she mumbled, “he's defective,” and I raised my brows as I laughed. “How so, Is his dick bent awkwardly?” I snorted in laughter as I curled my pinky up to her and noticed that she wasn't sharing in my humor. Groaning in disappointment, she shook her head and said, “I have shared too much. Let's go to our rooms. It is late, and we both have had an emotional day. Plus I don't want to argue with you, sis.” Bummed, I nodded and hesitantly embraced her. “Sorry, I snapped and behaved poorly in front of your great school friend,” I muttered softly, and she giggled as she pulled me before herself and grinned as her eyes studied me. “You just need to stop being so judgemental of Austin. He's a good guy if you give him a chance,” she sighed and I frowned. “I will try for your sake,” I murmured and she thanked me. Following her to the narrow hall I watched her go to her room as I entered mine. Thinking about what she said I was completely baffled. Could they be mates and are keeping it under the radar of the Alpha and Luna, I wondered. “What did she mean by defective?” I murmured in bafflement. Sighing deeply I studied the photos of my parents and furrowed my brow. “I don't want Olivia to have to drop out of university over me. When will my first shift come,” I mumbled softly to my mom's smiling face. Running my fingers down the glass-framed picture, I felt my heart start hurting and swallow my building emotions. Not certain how Olivia working at the pack’s clothing store was going to cover the monthly payment for living with the pack. I frowned as I sat down on the edge of my bed. “I need to shift so I can contribute,” I muttered. Getting back to my feet I changed into my pajamas and got into bed. Thinking about watching the guards practice I was determined that I could apply and hope I passed the finals so I would ensure a position with the pack. Yawning, I grinned but then frowned, knowing that tomorrow would be spent with Mister Belmont drooling over Olivia. Rolling my eyes I exhaled deeply and wondered why it bothered me so much. “Olivia isn't interested in him, so why do I get so concerned,” I huffed and turned to my side, not wanting to see my dead parents' smiling faces looking at me as I slept. The next morning Olivia pounded on my door and shouted for me to hurry up and take a shower. Still groggy, I stumbled out of bed and shuffled myself to the hall. “Save me some hot water,” she scolded me and I nodded as I yawned. “The sun hasn't risen yet,” I muttered sourly, and she opened the bathroom door, gesturing for me to go inside. “Austin's stopping over for breakfast,” she asserted and I screwed my face at her while I passed by her. Groaning in my misery I took a quick shower and announced to Olivia that I was finished. Heading back to my bedroom to get dressed I combed through my clothes and frowned. I hadn't been to the pack's town called Lost Falls since I was little and had no clue what I should wear. “Hey, sis! Casual dress?” I asked loudly and heard her reply loudly, “Sure! And start breakfast!” Rolling my eyes, I threw on a pair of blue jeans and a button-up shirt over my bralette. Exiting my room I heard the shower still running and went to the small kitchen to start a pot of coffee and take out the breakfast food items. “Fried ham, scrambled eggs with cheese and toast, is what I am making,” I muttered sourly and got to work. In the middle of stirring the eggs in the pan, a firm knock sounded at the front door, and I glanced at Olivia rushing through the living room to get the door. Noticing me watching she said, “Be kind!” Snorting rudely I shouted out, “I always am, sis!” Austin Belmont entered carrying two more sacks of groceries and I narrowed my eyes as he came toward me in the kitchen. “Figured that I would purchase breakfast foods since I will be driving your sister daily,” he announced and I gave him a slight frown. “You are that certain she will be hired,” I asked and he nodded, “Most definitely.” Turning my back to the stove I gave him a sour look. “Olivia can drive; she just needs a vehicle, and from what I've researched, the store provides a company car. Guess your rides will be short-lived,” I said with a scathing smile. Pointing behind my back, he told me that I was burning the food. I cursed as I quickly turned and stirred the browning eggs. “Don't ruin the food, Eva,” my sister scolded, and I told her I hadn't. “It will be fine; relax and take a seat, and I will plate it up,” I said softly in my defense. Gritting my molars at seeing Austin once again sitting next to Olivia, I purposely dropped his plate before him. “Eva!” Olivia snapped, and I lowered my eyes and muttered, “Oops.” “It's okay, um Eva, could I get a cup of coffee?” Austin asked and I huffed as I turned to retrieve it. "I bet they are mates," I murmured softly as I poured a steaming cup of coffee.Aurora Belmont’s pov My parents told me it was my choice if I wanted to go with Dante, and seeing my grandmother nodding at me, I made the decision to go. Saying my farewells had been sad but Dante told me that we could visit whenever I wanted. Currently, I was standing before all the Moon Council members while Dante spoke about me and what my position would be. They looked skeptical, but I looked at each of them with determination. After Dante was finished, he turned to me. “Let's go to my room and figure out our living arrangement,” he said nervously. Examining his strange behavior, I nodded and told him that I would love to see his room. Lowering his eyes from mine, he exhaled softly and said, “Please don't judge me by its contents. I'm a cold-blooded assassin, after all.” Giggling at him, he looked at me with a frown. “Relax goofball. I'm sure your private area is dark, gloomy, and brooding just like you,” I said in jest. Nodding his head slowly, he looked
Aurora Belmont’s pov Standing obediently with the other guards of my graduating class, I looked at my parents, along with my grandparents, smiling proudly at me. My mother was holding my baby brother Micah Jace Belmont and smiling proudly at me. I scanned the crowd in hopes of seeing Dante, but it had been over a year since I kissed him when he had given me Goddess Medeina's sword. He hadn't returned physically, but my arm hairs rose occasionally, so I knew he was spying on me. “Are you coming to the Tooth and Claw to celebrate?” My classmate, Abby asked. “I will ask my parents if it is permitted,” I replied, and she rolled her eyes. “You're an adult, Aurora, and don't need your parents' permission,” she teased. Of course, I was aware, but I still wanted them not to worry, but instead, I nodded and told her that I would go with her. The Master's ceremony started, and I waited for Sirius's second to finish our tattoos. When it was my turn, my mom was cheering embarrassingly
Aurora Belmont’s pov Speechless, I just stared at her, completely gobsmacked. “He killed her, yet the Goddess has him working on her council?!” Rubbing her eyes, Elvina peered at me and said, “It was his punishment to serve. Killing your own kind takes a toll on one's conscience.” “He killed a Goddess, and you think I'm capable of fighting against him?” I questioned her in disbelief. Nodding, she grinned slightly and told me I was powerful but hadn't tapped into my full potential yet. “Your druid curse is just at the surface, and I can see it glowing within you. You need a powerful teacher, and I personally feel that it should be Mr. Rafiq,” she stated assuredly. Pinching my lips, I said nothing, prompting her to add, “Let's go see if your mom has spoken with your dad about your training.” Reluctantly, I nodded and stood as I waited for her to join me. “Is he in his office?” “I imagine so. Your dad is a hard-working Alpha,” she snickered. Feeling anxious, I headed out of th
Aurora Belmont’s pov “Well, he's fawned over you before you were born but doesn't understand that you are you and not that dreadful Goddess Medeina,” my grandmother huffed. Elated that someone else understood my predicament, I gasped, “Exactly!” Furrowing her brow, my mom appeared confused. “I thought Medeina was a protector of the wolves and forests we live in?” “She is, well, was, but she also enjoyed lots of intimate company even after she and Dante were supposed to be monogamous mates,” Elvina replied. Rubbing my eyes, I groaned. “I fueled his past memories by flirting. I just wanted to get his attention, Goddess. I'm a fool,” I groaned. “Well, we're going to have to get you tested out of pack school now,” my mother huffed as I gave her an apologetic half smile. “Can I join the guard training?” I asked her to lighten the mood. Giving me a stern eye, she told me that we would have to discuss it with my father, and I grinned slightly. “I want to learn the kind
Aurora Belmont’s pov Racing to my bedroom on the verge of weeping, I shut my door before a cascade of tears streamed down my cheeks. “How can he accuse me of being a whore when I haven't even kissed a boy?!” I muttered sullenly. Sinking on the edge of my bed all I could think about was Dante. His long black lashes, silky hair, and his inquisitive golden eyes that I found myself getting lost within. Suddenly, gritting my teeth, I shook my head and dismissed my silly crush. “He will only ever view me as that Medeina and not see that I am ME!” I exclaimed bitterly as I thumped my chest. I may possess her power but my thoughts and person were my own. Feeling the atmosphere shifting, I narrowed my eyes at where Dante appeared and rolled my tear-stained eyes in aggravation. “Great, of course it's you,” I mumbled sourly and noticed that he cringed a little. “I um, I came to apologize. I shouldn't have put my past issues onto you,” he rushed out uncomfortably. Raising my eyebrow I
Eva Belmont ’s pov Aurora jumped up, eyes wide in concern, and jumped over the couch toward Dante. I felt the energy shift and saw the glow around my daughter as she reached his side and took the sword from his hand. “Don't, you can't touch it,” he warned, but she had taken it and laid it down beside herself and asked him what happened. Too shocked to speak, Dante just stared at her with wide eyes. “Speak fool! Where are you hurt?!” She growled at him. Exhaling deeply, he muttered that he just had a tough job but finished it and was sore. Examining him, Aurora huffed and asked, “So out of all this blood, none is yours?” Sitting down on her butt she shook her head and then reached behind herself for his weapon. Grasping the black leather hilt, she lifted it and felt its weight before swiping the air with a grin on her face, hearing the blade sing. “I'm going to take after my mom and become a blade master,” she announced until Dante grabbed his weapon from her as he
