Eva Gibson’s pov

Putting the food items away I heard my sister ask Austin to stay for dinner and groaned internally.

Still reeling from the funeral, I side-eyed her and said, “Don't you think it would be better for us to be alone at this time?”

Biting her bottom lip, she narrowed her red-rimmed eyes and said firmly, “Austin's thoughtfulness should be rewarded with a good meal. I will prepare it so don't worry about it, little sister.”

Glancing over at Austin sitting on a stool by the counter, he pretended to be oblivious to our conversation. I huffed out a fine to my sister and asked him if he wanted anything to drink.

“A cold beer sounds good if you have any?” He asked with a grin and I opened the refrigerator to grab one of my dad's.

Handing it to him, I muttered, “Might as well drink them, or they're going to be tossed in the trash.”

Holding the bottle, he inspected it and said, “These were your dad's, eh?”

Nodding, I told him yeah.

“Sorry about them both,” he added and popped the cap off before taking a swig.

“Why were humans this far out on the Alpha’s pack lands? There's no human population around here for hundreds of miles,” I commented and he eyed me oddly.

Setting the bottle down on the counter he inhaled deeply and said, “The driver that hit your parents wasn't human, Eva. The person responsible was a wolf from a neighboring pack who came here to the pack bar to celebrate his graduation from guard training.”

Furrowing my brow I eyed him in disbelief.

“They should be sued!”

Shaking his head he explained that they'd also been killed and had no remaining kin.

Seeing his eyes following my sister moving around the kitchen I growled sourly and told him to check himself.

“I know that you have a hard-on for Olivia, but she is off-limits for a man like you,” I warned him, and he scoffed at me.

Taking another drink he just eyed me with disdain and didn't comment, making me grit my molars at the asshole.

“Just because you can screw a lot of women because you're handsome doesn't mean you should,” I snapped and he chuckled.

“Do you think that I am handsome, Eva?”

Rolling my eyes, I growled sourly, then glared at him.

“Unbelievable, you focused on those words and nothing else I said!”

Frustrated, I informed Olivia that I was going to my room and to call for me when supper was ready.

She waved me off as I stomped off to my bedroom and slammed my door.

“He's such a cocky no brain idiot!” I fumed as I plopped down on my bed and growled into my pillow.

“Of course, he is handsome, duh! I, along with all the other female pack members, thought that, and my opinion was no different!”

Seething, I glanced at my dresser and noticed the pictures of my parents I had there and finally allowed the pent-up pain to roll down my cheeks.

I had held it in for days and now the dam had broken.

The firm knock on my bedroom a while later had me wiping my eyes quickly as I asked who it was.

“Dinner is ready!” Austin's voice called out, making me groan, knowing that he and my sister would know that I had cried.

“I will be there in a few!” I called back and, hearing him moving away, scurried from my room and headed to the bathroom.

Seeing my red eyes I exhaled deeply and rinsed my face off with some cool water to freshen up.

I entered the kitchen and saw Austin sitting next to my sister and pinched my lips together at him ignoring my earlier warning as I took my seat.

After getting our plates full Austin started to speak with Olivia.

“So you are going to drop out to take care of your adult sister? Seems like she is capable of getting employment instead of you having to ruin your future,” he stated plainly and I gasped at the nerve of him.

“I never even had a choice in the decision I will have you know!” I retorted and heard Olivia sigh across from me.

“Could we please have a civil meal? You both are always at each other's throats and now isn't the time for that,” she said firmly.

I glared at him and raised my middle finger causing him to narrow his eyes at me in a threatening manner.

Olivia gave me the look that my parents used to give me. I lowered my eyes from my sister and focused on the food on my plate.

“Austin, I promised my parents on their deathbeds that I would care for Eva. The pack clothing store pay is minimal but will cover our necessities whereas university pays nothing,” she asserted.

“I'm just suggesting that Eva is old enough to get a job and help with the finances,” he said firmly.

“I'm aware, but she hasn't gotten her wolf yet, and per pack law, she's not matured yet and must be parented until her first shift,” Olivia explained and shut him up quickly.

As I ate I felt him watching me and looked up to meet his eyes.

“Take a picture; it will last longer,” I said sarcastically.

“I don't take photos of females,” he growled back, and I glared at him, but he just grinned slightly back at me which was unnerving.

“I can give you a ride into town so you can apply. Eva, you're welcome to come along if you want to get away from here for the day. I can get us all lunch at the cafe afterward,” he said suddenly, and I peeked over at him, looking at Olivia, and cringed when she agreed.

I would have to speak with her about my concerns, I surmised as I lowered my eyes and focused on my plate.

  • The Druid Wolf Curse    Chapter 77

Eva Gibson’s pov It was bittersweet to see Jace’s truck parked there, knowing he would never be seen driving in it again. Austin and Dante entered sitting in the front seats while I sat in the back and thought of the younger, white, blonde-haired Jace. “I'm going to miss him. He was a great friend,” I sighed from the back seat. I met Austin’s eyes in the rearview mirror and saw his painful nod of agreement. “So tell me Austin, what is your wolf like? Is it different being a druid?” Dante inquired as we drove to Jace’s farmhouse. Side-eyeing him, Austin’s brow creased in thought before he answered. “I don't notice anything unusual, but I haven't allowed the energy inside of me to be fully released either. Will it affect my wolf?” Humming slightly, Dante snorted rudely. “Yeah, you will need to allow your wolf to take it on so I can see if your mate can control the beast,” He asserted, and I shuddered as I clasped my hands. “Will you draw your sword on him like you di

Eva Gibson’s pov “Hold hands, and I will teleport you to your residence,” Gideon asserted as he grabbed my hand and told me to hold Austin's. I thanked him softly for keeping me from touching Dante, who was studying me curiously. “It's going to be difficult to hide your pregnancy. He's very observant,” Lana growled, and I gritted my molars as the air whooshed past my face and the scenery changed suddenly. It felt nice to be back to my roots as I glanced around the small houses and guard training area. I found it strange that it was so quiet and desolate. Gesturing to his home, Austin said, “Welcome to my humble abode.” Dante nodded slowly and eyed the meager dwelling with a grin. “You lived here, and were the eldest of the Alpha of Red Moon pack?” He questioned aghast. Chuckling, Austin shrugged and said he liked living the simple life. “Really, and you don't mind?” Dante asked me. “I'm an Omega Master of Blades, and I don't mind it at all. As a matter of fact, I p

Eva Gibson’s pov “I can't believe that you were the man I was being a hoe with behind the Tooth and Claw,” I groaned as I covered my embarrassment. Chuckling, Austin shrugged and said, “I wish I would have known then that you were my mate, Eva. Then I could have given you a night of fond memories instead of a quick cold screw.” Giving him a glare, I smirked. “If that was how you treated all your past conquests, I believe that I have lost all jealousy and actually feel sorry for them,” I snickered, then laughed at seeing the look of horror come to his face. “Let's bury this and speak of it no more,” He growled, and I grinned slightly, then pretended to lock my mouth with a key. “Are you uh certain that it was Austin?” Lana asked me in my mind as I peeked at the man in question. “Yeah, I now remember his blue eyes, and no other has his unique color, and it explains where my deep-seated disgust developed about him,” I thought, making her chuckle. Nick looked at us enterin

Eva Gibson’s pov Feeling Austin move and then hearing muffled voices, I cracked open my eyes to see Gideon leaning over Austin and looking disappointed. “Nicholas Collins and Sonya killed Patrick before your dad arrived. Shot him point blank in the forehead. They are both claiming to be Alpha and Luna of the Red Moon Pack. Nick has already challenged him, claiming he is the rightful heir, but Collins denied the challenge because your dad has no Luna. You're going to have to challenge him with Eva by your side. Dante will be the Moon Council representative to oversee the fight, and Eva must hide her pregnancy at all costs, or the pup will be terminated. Furrowing my brow, I asked Gideon if he couldn't be the representative, and he shook his head. “I've been demoted due to Elvina dying under my watch, and Cedric refuses to return because he is heartbroken about losing his lover. It's a cluster fuck. Just don't touch the man, or Dante will sense the child. Due to his vampire gene

Eva Gibson’s POV Elvina gasped and then started cursing about Nick. “Oh shit, that stupid man! His claim won't be valid if he kills the Alpha outright,” she growled as Gideon chuckled. “You are forgetting that Austin is heir to the pack,” He stated, and she hissed. “Not if Patrick changed his will when he found out Austin wasn't his real son!” Gideon’s face fell as the realization came to his eyes. “Then it would go to his next of kin, which is Nick. Either way, Austin will be Alpha or Nick will be if he has a Luna,” Gideon stated firmly with a cocky smirk and an eyebrow wiggle at Elvina Brushing him off playfully, she said, “Stop playing cupid, you old fart.” Interrupting them, I asked if he would carry Austin upstairs and for Elvina to lead the way because his wolf was being very persistent with mine about getting him somewhere comfortable. They nodded as I followed Gideon to the small room and watched him lift Austin’s dead weight. Austin’s cut pants hung down low, exposi

  • The Druid Wolf Curse    Chapter 72

Eva Gibson’s POV Heading out onto the back patio, I gripped the phone next to my ear. “What do you hope to gain? You're being challenged on Friday and will be defeated!” I exclaimed bitterly. The line went quiet, and suddenly, Olivia was fake sobbing on the line. My nerves were irked since I was all too familiar with her false tears. “Eva, Patrick is threatening Landon and says he will kill us both if you don't turn yourself in…what did you and Austin do?!” “We didn't do anything. Patrick is being paranoid and believes that we are part of a plan to overthrow him. His brother has already challenged him, so this is just a weak attempt to gain leverage,” I mumbled in exhaustion. “I'm pregnant with Landon’s pup!” She shouted, and I pinched my mouth before telling her congratulations. I then narrowed my eyes before I asked how much she and Landon were getting paid. Sputtering, she said softly, “What are you asking, I'm not, I mean…Landon…Oh, my Goddess!” “Goodbye Olivia,
