CHAPTER SEVEN

The awkward stare continued between us as I thought by now he would just let go, he was pretty much getting on my nerves at this point, “Hands off” I threw his hands to the air as I opened the car seat door and sat down.

He looked utterly confused as he leaned closer to the car and spoke to the driver. I was panicking at this point because I didn’t know what he had planned, for all I know he could be psychopath.

“Aren’t you my Uber driver?” He asked, pulling out his phone from his pocket and calling the driver’s line, the phone rang confirming that I was in the wrong Uber and there I was fighting for it.

I was totally ashamed of myself as I stepped out slowly out of the Car, “What’s going on here? Didn’t you two order an Uberpool?”

“Uberpool?” I immediately checked my ride and saw that it was entirely true, Angry bird did the same, how could this be a coincidence?

“You two are going to Scenes Hotel, right?” The driver asked the both of us again and we both said ‘yes’ in unison, we exchange glances again.

I am sure Angry bird will be thinking the exact thing I am thinking--- What the fucking hell is going on? I have never made such mistake before in my life.

“Please will you two hurry up, I have another passenger up ahead” The Uber said, sounding impatient, mumbling something only he could understand.

We both decided to overlook everything and ride in the Uber, I had to get to hotel as soon as I can so I could get settled, leave for the board meeting tomorrow and take a plane back to where I came putting all of this behind me.

The driver tried to make small talk to ease the tension in the car, he asked about out flight and that’s when things got even more awkward. It just so happens that Angry bird and I boarded the same flight to New York, as no one spoke again after that.

This now felt like a sick romance tale that will only be told by a loveless author trying to see the best out of this messed up life. What next is that Angry bird and I know each other and our fate are tied together or something.

We both love each other in the future, like enemies to lovers kind of thing and then I find out what kind of monster he is, and stupidly still fall for him, forgive all of his wrong and…..

“Miss, aren’t you going to get off? We’ve arrived” The driver said, bringing me back to reality, he already pulled out my bags from Car trunk.

I brought out some cash from my purse to pay but he refused it, saying that the young mister already paid for both our ride. I looked over for angry bird and found him already entering the hotel, I thanked the driver before going after him with my heels drawing me back.

When I finally got to the reception unit, he had already collected his keys and headed for the elevator, I wanted to repay him back, I don’t like when I owe someone something I kind of feel indebted to them.

“Hello, there is a reservation on the name, Vanessa Alejandro” I said to the receptionist. She immediately typed into her computer, something I didn’t get to see.

She confirmed my reservation as she offered me key to the room, “Room 209, have a pleasant day” the receptionist said with a wide smile, I am sure she must be tired having to do that for almost all of the guests.

I went straight to my room to have a well deserved rest after having my shower, tomorrow was a huge day for me, I could finally bring Carlos down and finally leave all of this behind, I don’t think I wanted revenge again, there was no use holding on to the past.

The past is the past for a reason, for me it should be forgotten and buried.

My night was just going well when that nightmare came back again, I felt myself falling into this large pit that was endless, I kept screaming for help but got laughter in return, it was like I was falling for eternity and the whole world was mocking me terribly.

I woke up immediately, turning on my bedside lamp to avoid the darkness, beads of sweat stroll from my head down, even my bed was a mess, I had also been crying just like in my dream when I was screaming for help.

I got up from my bed and prayed. I needed strength, power to keep on going. I know I couldn’t describe my dream but I knew it wasn’t a good sign, something worse might be coming my way or my name will continue to be dragged in the mud.

Whichever reason it was, I don’t think I will be believing any of it, I plan on staying focus at all cost necessary. I brought out a murder mystery novel I was reading which was called “The Arsonist” it helped me feel an indescribable feeling, which led me to fall asleep.

When morning came, I was awaken by the sunlight which seeped through the curtain and touched my face, I quickly got up from my bed and got ready for my big day. Father has already made things easier by convincing the board members about Carlos in-capabilities as President, a lot of horrible things has happened under him and was slowly bringing my company to ruin.

I wore a very tight black dress that hugged my body perfectly, with a large black cosmopolitan hat that held most of my ego, my make up was a little mild but my lip were bloody red.

I was death in human form ready to serve it for free.

The dramatic scene came when the door was open wide for me, breeze blowing and I stood before men, totally deadpan, this was a different me, with eyes staring probably wondering where I came from.

I said nothing, scanning through the room for my prey. There he was, the very man who turned my life upside down, how can he still have a smile on his face.

The pain again started returning, I can’t forgive because I can’t forget all that I went through, seeing him now made me want a full painstaking revenge, cutting him out of my company will just not be enough, he deserved so much more than that.

My body froze as he left his seat and started walking towards me.
