Everyone was still busy with laughter and music mixing in a haze of smoke and the scent of perfume coming from the she-wolves. My eyes stung, though I didn't understand why. Perhaps, I am disappointed with myself that he hadn't chosen me. Alpha Archer does not prefer me.

He had glanced at me, more than once, I knew he had, but in the end, it was Carla's name he uttered. Carla, with her colored lips and perfect smile, who slipped her hand into his arm like she had been waiting her whole life for it. The hall cheered, their voices rising, and I tried to join in. I even clapped my hands softly, but the sound felt hollow, but deep inside I am not happy.

Was I disappointed? Yes. But the truth was, I didn't even know what I had been hoping for. I was too young to truly understand what it meant to be chosen, what it meant to follow the Alpha into his chambers. I had only heard whispers, scandal and reverence, from the older women, stories painted with both envy and warning.

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter Seven

    * Alpha Archer *The laughter coming from the people in the hall was nothing but noise to me. It sounded loud and too desperate. My warriors and a few guests celebrated my birthday like the world would crumble tomorrow, but for me, the wine and the women were just hollow comforts. Neither is essential in my daily routine, but this is just for this moment. It was a tradition, that on Alpha's birthday, a night of indulgence for all his warriors too. A night when the Luna's women paraded themselves in silk and painted lips, waiting for my hand to pluck one of them to serve me on my bed. I did not doubt that half the she-wolves in this pack or in this hall right now had already rehearsed their sighs and practiced their smiles in the mirror. But I wasn't interested.I should have been. My blood ran hot, my body demanded release after weeks and months of training, leading the warriors and war council, and my instincts snarled for a mate, even a temporary one. Yet when I looked at them, all

    * Regina *The days passed by fast in the Western pack. The next morning, I was still basking in the strangeness of sleeping in a clean bed when a sharp knock rattled the door of our room. My mother stirred awake beside me, already anxious. Before either of us could answer, the door creaked open, and a tall wolf warrior stepped in. His hair was tied back, his chest marked with the faint scars of training, and his presence and build were commanding without effort."Regina?" His deep voice carried weight, though not unkind. He is asking for my name.I pushed myself up from the bed, clutching the blanket around me. "Y-Yes."He studied me for a moment, his eyes flicking over my face with a sort of critical appraisal, as though he were measuring something I couldn't see. Finally, he nodded, satisfied. "You'll need to come with me."My mother sat up, alarmed. "For what reason? I am her mother.”The warrior glanced her way, then back to me. "The Alpha's birthday is in three days. The Luna re

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter Five

    * Regina * It felt like a blessing from the Moon Goddess that the very first pack we stumbled upon chose to welcome us. My mother had spoken the name of her old friend, Donna, a woman she had once admired in the village, known for her strength and loyalty. Here, she was no mere warrior, but a trusted protector serving directly under the Luna of the Western pack. "Goodness, Amanda! Is that truly you?" Donna's voice carried both disbelief and joy as she grasped my mother's shoulders, then pulled her into a fierce embrace that spoke of years of separation. I know my mother felt shy and little to asked her for a favor but we don't have a choice. For the first time in so long, I noticed my mother smile, a soft, genuine smile, one she had all but forgotten back in the South. It softened her weary features, and for a moment, she didn't look like a woman beaten down by endless trials. Her eyes shone temporarily. While they held each other, I let my gaze wander. The pack grounds

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter Four

    * Alpha Archer * Not all the alphas from the nearby lands had accepted the fact that I was the youngest Alpha among them. Especially the Alpha King. He was supposed to be my uncle, yet not once did he offer me words of congratulations, encouragement, or even acknowledgment. For two years, I buried myself in training with the warriors. Beta Kael and Beta Aldin gave me their unwavering support. My father and mother guided me, pushing me to my limits. Day by day, my strength grew, and so did the restless energy that simmered within me. The celebration was never my idea. I had no love for crowded rooms, pounding bass that rattled the floor, or drunken warriors laughing too loud at their own jokes. But Beta Kael and Beta Aldin had insisted. “Eighteen only happens once, Alpha Archer.” So here I was, in the dim-lit backroom of a club my warriors frequented. A glass of liquor sat untouched in my hand while my warriors roared with laughter, slapping each other's backs, the air thick

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter Three

    * Regina * "This is the last time I will see you and your daughter here, Amanda! It's time for you to move out and never come back!” I jolted upright at the sharp sting of Luna Diana's voice cutting through the stillness of the servant's quarters. Her words weren't spoken, they were thrown, harsh and heavy, echoing off across the thin walls. Around us, other omegas stirred from their rest, whispers rising like ripples in water as they listened in. My mother stood frozen at the foot of our bed, her hands twisting together as if she could wring courage from them. She look down as her soft voice came out to answer her. "But, Luna Diana, please. There is nowhere for us to go. We have lived in this pack for generations, ever since the birth of my ancestors. We have always served Alpha Douglas and his family." Her voice wavered as she spoke, soft but steady, like a fragile thread she hoped would hold. I wanted to step forward, to say something and help her, but my throat was too t
