LOGINWell, that was close. God knows what would have happened had his mate not stopped him. I sit back in my seat as everyone else dispatches, and the teacher also entered right at that moment.
I think it's high time I left the pack.
I've been thinking about leaving for some days now, ever since the changes started. I can only hide them for a while. I don't know what will happen once they are discovered. Today was a close call, and I can't afford for them to know. It could lead to my death once discovered.
Luckily for me, I was soon forgotten because of the excitement in the air. Mrs. Johnson even added a bonus to my salary because of it, which I was grateful for since I can now add more to my savings.
The day went by quickly, and classes were over before we knew it.
When I got to the packhouse, everywhere was filled with preparations, and I knew for one that I would definitely be ignored for the rest of the day and mostly tomorrow also hopefully. I quickly went down to my room and locked myself in for the rest of the day. I hear our guest will be arriving at midnight, and the celebration will start once he arrives.
As I lay in bed, I listened to all that was going on in the packhouse and discovered that the guest that was coming was the heir apparent to the throne of the werewolves. I also couldn't help but feel excited when I learned so. I have never in my life seen any of the royals, much less attend the same school with one. Hopefully, I will be able to catch a glimpse of him when he arrives here. I heard their looks were otherworldly, and they all possess unique abilities, and those abilities are only known to those close to them. The royals consist of five: the king, the queen, the two princes, and of course the princess.
It was said that King Indulf wanted to pass the throne over to the crown prince, Prince Zeid, but couldn't because Prince Zeid had yet to find his mate.
It was generally known that the throne can only be passed to the crown prince the moment he finds his mate, as he needs the support of his mate to rule the entire werewolf pack.
I suddenly hear the pack members telling one another that Prince Zeid has arrived and that everyone is required to welcome him. I know by everyone, I'm not among them, so I didn't bother joining them. Not long after I heard them start the party, I could feel the celebration in the air and the excitement of everyone to be able to be in the presence of a royal.
My stomach grumbles out, reminding me I haven't eaten since lunch break. I check the time and notice it's past 1 am. I got up from my bed and quietly opened the door to my room. I check the basement and see that they left it untouched, like they are trying to ignore the existence of the basement.
I walk to the entrance of the basement, quietly open it slightly, and peek through it. I noticed that it was empty, meaning they are all in the courtyard where the party is taking place.
This is quite good for me because I will be able to sneak out to get some food without being noticed.
I take a deep breath and step out from behind the door.
The moment I stepped out, my wolf started becoming restless. I pause for a bit wondering why she's like that—she hardly reacts to anything, which makes things perfect for me in covering her up.
Today was an exception that got me worried I tried communicating with her but she ignored me and continued being restless.
No problem, two can play the game
I chose to ignore her also and headed to where I know the foods are kept. She tried diverting me in the opposite direction, but I didn't want to and continued in my initial direction. She tried taking control from me, but I didn't let her.
She growled at me but told her to stop growling at me and that I would only listen to her if she told me what's wrong. But she chose to be silent.
At least this is much better than the way she was acting just now.
As I got to the table full of varieties of foods, she started acting up again. This time around more than before. I tried talking to her, but she wouldn't listen.
I sigh. Decided to take her for a run when things are more settled around here. It's been so long since I let her out; maybe that's why she's restless.
I pick up a plate and was about to serve myself some food when my wolf suddenly calls out a word I never imagined I would ever hear.
MATE...
at the same time she said it, I hear a deep voice also say the same word
"MATE"
I stood frozen for what seemed like forever and only came back to my senses when the plate I was holding fell from my hand and shattered into pieces on the floor.
I slowly turned around to confirm if what I just heard was said to me or not.
As I turned, my gaze fell on the most handsome guy I've ever seen in the whole of my life.
He stood at 187 cm tall with broad shoulders complementing his height and looks. His chiseled face was framed with crystal blue eyes, a sharp-pointed nose, lips that would make one want to kiss it forever, and brown short hair that looks like it has been finger raked several times. Giving him an enticing look.
He stood rooted six steps away in front of me, and we both stared at each other as though we were entranced by what we saw. Making everything around us dull out.
"Prince Zeid...what's wrong?" We only came to be when someone called out to him, breaking the connection between us.
I quickly diverted my eyes when I found who it was that called out to him and what his identity is.
I ran away out of fear, not caring I might have offended him by not acknowledging him, and also because I didn't want to have a confrontation with the alpha once he sees me.
Yes, it was the alpha that called out to him.
I heard the alpha's growl at me as I ran, but I didn't stop and kept running just to avoid them.
Queen Seraphine's POVBy the time I got to my chambers, I could barely contain the rage that was building inside me. How could this be happening to me? How dare he talk to me in such a manner because of that bast**d child of his?I tried so much to contain my anger, but it was proving difficult as I walked down the corridor back to my chambers. It was more so, especially when everyone I came across looked at me with sympathy alongside their greetings. The news of her arrival had begun to spread like wildfire within the palace, and it was only a matter of time before it reached outside the palace walls to the ears of the entire kingdom.Immediately upon entering my chambers, Lady Elena, one of my ladies-in-waiting, rushed over to me, breathless with anticipation, to confirm the news from me.As it happens, it was not presently that I heard about the news of her arrival to the palace. I knew of her presence in the palace as soon as she was brought in. But because she was hidden within t
Lee's POVSoon enough, we got to the entrance of the queen's quarters, and I was stopped by the guards there to do a body search. I knew it was necessary, but it still made me uncomfortable. I felt as though I was being humiliated, especially not after the way the maid had just acted toward my lady, treating her with such disrespect. I felt so much annoyance as they patted me down and rifled through my cloth.Once they were done, I saw the way they smirked at me, as if reveling in my discomfort and powerlessness. My anger bubbled up inside of me, but I knew that showing it would only make things worse and put her in a spot where she could get more humiliated. It was obvious that the queen found her presence here disturbing and planned to make things difficult for her during our stay here. It was best to avoid drawing attention to her."Your Majesty, I've returned with her." The obnoxious maid called out to the closed door before us from beside us before giving us a nasty look. I gritt
I stopped walking at the sound of the voice and casually looked around to see if the comment was directed to our group. But there was no one else apart from us in the area, which confirms that the rude comment, if I may say, was truly directed to us.But why? What had we done to provoke such a reaction?Or did one of the maids do something to offend someone? After all, I wasn't the only one present. The maids and Lee were also present. Surely it couldn't be me who was being spoken to. And I know Lee would not have done such a thing since he was a foreigner here and would not want to cause any trouble.A lady dressed in a maid's outfit stepped out of the corner and walked over to us."Miss, are you talking to us?" Lee stepped before me in a protective manner and asked the lady."Miss Cara…""Miss Cara…""Miss Cara…"I raised a brow in surprise as the maids greeted her with a curtsy as she walked over. It was obvious that though she was also dressed in a maid uniform, she was of a highe
Divya's POVI gave a tight-lipped smile in return before turning around and walking out of the room. I was still wondering what he meant as I stepped out into the grand hallway.I came to a stop in utter shock at the sight of the person standing with obvious high alert just a few feet away. The minute I stepped out, his gaze landed on me; I briefly saw him let out a sigh of relief before schooling his expression and walking towards me."Your Highness," he bowed at me as soon as he got close enough."H… How come you are here? What happened?" I stammered in shock at the sight of him standing before me.Instead of answering me, he gazed behind me.I didn't need to turn around to know what, or rather who, he was staring at. But I did anyway, out of curiosity, and Cassius was just right on my heel. I wondered why he would look at him instead of answering me."Princess, he was lurking in the shadows when I rescued you from the kidnappers." Cassius mentioned, stepping out of the king's study
I had an ounce of suspicion about who it might be before the person entered the room, and as soon as they stepped in, my suspicions were confirmed. It was the person who had forcibly brought me here against my will. Knowing how powerful he is from the exchange of blows I had with one of their kind before at the lycan palace, I wasn't sure if I wanted him to be the one to train me…or rather, I wasn't sure if I would be able to survive his training.I bit my lip and nodded to him as a silent acknowledgment of his presence, wondering whether I should voice my concern or not."Don't worry, princess, I'm not as tough as I seem," he said with a wry smile.Great! I just have to forget that he could read minds. Speaking of which, is it only him that can read minds, or do my father and everyone else have the ability to do so? If so, I need to figure out how to protect my thoughts around others."No, it's just me. No one else has the same ability as mine…well, as far as we know. We all have dif
"Yeah, I planned on introducing her to you and the family later before introducing her to everyone else," the king replied sheepishly while I tried as much as possible to be asShe looked from him to me in disbelief. "Hold on, do you know what you are saying right now? You are telling me that you have a daughter that suddenly appeared from nowhere. A daughter that is obviously not mine and this old came out of nowhere, and you just spring it up on me so casually, expecting me to accept it just like that?" she demanded. Her anger seeped out from her voice despite how she kept calm and composed on the outside."Please, dear, can we take this inside? This is not the right place to talk about it." The king spoke with a soft and gentle tone, trying to diffuse the tension before turning to look at me. "Come, child, let's head inside."I hesitated briefly before following him, my heart pounding with anticipation.I could hear the sound of the queen's and her maids' footsteps behind us as the
