The sun was just about to set and the soft flow highlighted the whitewashed walls with terracotta roofs. Ainara loved their home and it was one of the reasons why she took Architecture instead of a business degree.

The lush gardens and centuries-old acacia trees were still there and she remembers her old tire swing. Her favorite color became fuchsia because of it.

She noticed the cobblestone path that would lead guests through a candlelit courtyard. Romance was in the air, but how come knowing her mother is remarrying does not make her happy? It’s just that Jaime is— she had no words.

It looked perfect— almost too perfect. The round tables in ivory linens each adorned with low arrangements of white orchids, eucalyptus and golden anthuriums.

She knew some of them. And then some, she’s never met before. Baka kakilala ni Jaime. The host started to talk and welcome everyone. And through it all, she had a champagne flute on her hand.

Ainara swallowed as she felt his hot breath against her nape. She was unsure whether to turn and greet her boss… her soon-to-be stepbrother.

“That’s understandable. The jetlag could be vicious,” sagot niya rito na hindi humaharap.

When the appetizers were served, doon lang umayos ng upo si Ainara. Why did they have to sit together?

“Look, honey. Our kids are all seated together. Aren’t they adorable?” It was her mother who spoke.

Jaime gave Ainara a kind smile. “How was the flight, Ai? You must be exhausted. I asked your mother to move the date so you can rest pero hindi s’ya pumayag. She wanted the engagement party to happen exactly how she planned it.”

Pinigilan niya ang mapabuntong hininga. “Yep— that’s Mama.”

They ate in silence and soon, people started dancing. Ainara decided to take a walk until she reached a quiet spot in the garden.

“You have to slow down with that,” he said.

“What are you doing? Why are you following me? Don’t you have business to attend to?”

Tinaasan s’ya nito ng isang kilay. “We’re at a party and I have no intention of working tonight. I’d rather talk to you.”

Ainara rolled her eyes. “Masakit ang lalamunan ko. I don’t want to talk.”

“Your voice doesn’t seem hoarse.” “You’re lying.”

“Kung ayaw mong maniwala, wala akong magagawa.” She was about to take another sip but Andres took the glass flute from her. “Hey!”

Andres put it down on the far side of the bench. “Sasakit lalo ang lalamunan mo kapag uminom ka pa ng champagne. It’s sweet.”

“I like sweet.”

“If you like sweet… then try me.”

She felt the sparks and if he doesn’t step away from her soon, the fire in her will start to burn.

“Andres, we can’t—“ She felt so weak saying that, but she hoped that he won’t notice it.

“We can’t… but you want to.” He continued to flirt with her.

This time, his finger traced the middle of her back down to her waist. She felt so exposed in front of him and yet she’s dressed.

“There’s something between us, Pilar. Don’t deny it.”

Hindi naman niya itinatanggi ‘yon. And if circumstances were different, baka i-entertain niya si Andres pagkatapos niyang umalis sa company nito.

“We should not start something that is bound to end, Andres. We can’t date each other. By law—”

“They are not married yet,” giit ni Andres.

“At kapag kinasal na sila, titigil na tayo?”

“Hindi natin kailangang tumigil kung walang nakakaalam.” He took a few strands of her hair, saka pinaikot nito sa daliri. “I think we have something rare.”

Napailing si Ainara. “You have no intentions of getting married, Andres— but I do. I want to settle down and have a family someday.”

Andres stopped what he was doing and let go of her hair. “Change is constant.”

“Does that mean you’ll reconsider marriage?” Hindi nakasagot si Andres. “And let’s say you finally consider it, you still can’t marry me because—“

The next few words were caught in her throat. She can feel his breath fanning her face.

Are they finally going to kiss?

Hindi pa kasal ang mga magulang nila. May oras pa—

Ainara closed her eyes and silently gave permission for Andres to kiss her lips, but before he was able to do that—

“Ate!”

Saved by her baby brother.

“What are you guys doing here? Mama’s looking for you. Come on!”

He’s maybe younger than them but he is not dumb. He knows about the birds and the bees.

And right now, her sister is that delicate flower caught in a crossfire.

  • The Sin of Loving You   The End is Only the Beginning

The hospital room was quiet, the faint hum of machines steady as Celia stirred awake. Ainara sat beside her, her eyes swollen from sleepless nights, her heart heavy with questions that had haunted her for years.“Ma,” Ainara whispered, her voice trembling. “Tell me the truth. Who is my real father?”Celia’s eyes glistened, her hand reaching weakly for her daughter’s. “His name was Luis Ramirez,” she said softly, her voice breaking. “I met him at a bar one night. I was young, reckless, and lonely. It was only one night… but I ended up pregnant with you.”Ainara’s breath caught, her chest tightening. “Luis Ramirez…” The name felt foreign, yet it carried the weight of her identity. “I want to meet him.”Celia’s tears spilled, her voice trembling. “I’m sorry, anak. I never told you because I was ashamed. Ayaw kong maging katulad mo ako. He was poor, a bartender who worked nights to survive. I didn’t even know if he would have wanted a child. But you… you were my miracle. Hindi ko pinagsis

  • The Sin of Loving You   Broken Hearts & New Beginnings

The hospital corridor was dim, the hum of machines echoing faintly from nearby rooms. Andres paced outside Ainara’s ward, his chest tight, his mind racing. Every second felt like an eternity until the door finally opened and the doctor stepped out, clipboard in hand. “Mr. Bernardino,” the doctor began, his tone calm but serious. “Your wife lost consciousness due to extreme stress. The last several days have taken a toll on her—Her blood pressure was high and from the looks of it, she was overwhelmed.” Tumikhim ito. “But there’s also another reason.” Andres froze, his breath caught in his throat. “Another reason?” The doctor’s eyes softened. “She’s pregnant. About seven to eight weeks.” For a moment, Andres couldn’t move. The words hung in the air, surreal, impossible. Then his chest swelled, his he

  • The Sin of Loving You   Great Personality

The boardroom was suffocating with silence. Celia’s breathing grew shallow, her chest rising and falling in panic. Her hands trembled against the table, her eyes darting between Andres and Ainara, cornered by the truth she had fought to bury. “No…” she whispered, clutching her chest. “Hindi ko kaya.” Naiiling si Celia. “I can’t… I can’t say it…” Her voice cracked, her body convulsed. Panic surged through her veins, the weight of secrets pressing down until her strength gave way. Celia’s face drained of color, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed against her chair. “Ma!” Ainara screamed, rushing to her side. Santino leapt forward, catching her before she hit the floor. Jaime shouted for help, his voice echoing through the boardroom. Chaos erupted. Chairs scraped, papers scattered, voices rose in panic. The doors burst open as aides and guards rushed in. “Call an ambulance!” Jaime barked, his voice trembling with fear. Within minutes, Celia was lifted onto a stretcher, her body l

  • The Sin of Loving You   When Truth & Lies Collide

"I only sold a little." Mr. Domingo muttered.Pero narinig 'yon ni Andres. He leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable, but the steel in his tone cut through the room. “You sold your shares, Mr. Domingo. Not just a little — almost all of them. To me."Ponce’s face darkened, fury simmering beneath his composure. “You—” His voice cracked, his arrogance slipping. “You bought them? You bought his shares?” Tumingin si Ponce kay Mr. Domingo at kinukumpirma ang sinabi ni Andres.Mr. Domingo lowered his gaze, shame etched across his features. “I was offered three times the value, Ponce. I couldn’t say no.”Andres’ voice was calm, deliberate. “Add that to the shares I bought from Jaime and Celia, and suddenly your thirty percent doesn’t look so powerful anymore. The vote for CEO will not be yours to claim.”The silence was deafening. Ponce’s smirk was gone, replaced by a storm brewing in his eyes. Santino’s fists clenched, his anger boiling over — not just at Andres for entangling A

  • The Sin of Loving You   Uninvited

A few days later, the boardroom of the Del Carmen Empire was cloaked in silence, the air heavy with anticipation. The long mahogany table gleamed under the lights, but the atmosphere was anything but polished. At one end sat Ponce Natividad, his posture relaxed, his smile sharp, like a predator waiting for the kill. Beside him, Mr. Domingo adjusted his glasses, his expression unreadable, though his eyes flickered with unease.Across the table, Jaime sat stiff, his jaw tight, his gaze locked on Ponce. Celia was beside him, pale but composed, her hands folded tightly as if holding herself together. Santino leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his anger simmering just beneath the surface. The room felt incomplete, a shadow of tension lingering over the empty seat that only Ainara knew belonged to Andres.Ponce’s voice broke the silence, smooth and cutting. “Well, it seems the Del Carmen Empire is crumbling faster than I anticipated. Investors are nervous. Rumors are spreading. And unle

  • The Sin of Loving You    Tension Like a Blade

Celia’s lips parted, but before she could speak, the door creaked open. Jaime stood there, his face pale, his eyes heavy with something more than judgment.“Enough,” Jaime said quietly, his gaze shifting between mother and daughter. Ainara tried to speak but Jaime raised his hand to stop her from talking. “I said enough.” Jaime’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. He stepped fully into the study, his presence commanding, his eyes narrowing at Ainara.“You shouldn’t be raising your voice at your mother,” Jaime said firmly. “Celia is sick. She doesn’t need this stress, this anger. You should be protecting her, not making her suffer.”Ainara’s lips trembled, her tears spilling faster. Ano ba ang ikakatwiran n'ya? Mali s'ya. Maling mali. And now it's going to cost her the family she treasured and the company Joaquin built for many years... his legacy going down the drain because she made a mistake. Before she could answer, the door creaked open again. Santino shuffled in, still
