Silas’s POV – Crescent Ruins

It happened fast.

One heartbeat they were alone, just Ethan, the ashes, and the broken crest in Silas’s hand.

The next

Arrows.

Three rained down from the treetops, sinking into the stone beside them. Ethan pulled Silas back just in time.

“Loyalists,” Ethan hissed. “They were waiting.”

No time to shift.

No time to run.

Just instinct.

Silas slammed his palm against a hidden release under the altarone his father had shown him as a boy. The floor split open beneath them.

And they fell.

Elder Myra’s POV – Surface

The loyalists surrounded the ruin. No Silas. No Ethan.

But the scroll lay perfectly placed atop the altar.

One soldier picked it up.

His hands trembled as he read it.

“Signed in Red Moon blood,” he said. “An execution order.”

Another cursed. “He came to kill his mate…”

And just like that

The pack was set aflame.

Ethan’s POV – Underground

He hit the ground first, back slamming against dirt and bone.

Silas landed beside him with a grunt.

They were inside an ancient burial chamber roots snaking through the ceiling, moonlight filtering through cracks above.

Ethan cursed. “They’re going to use that letter.”

Silas stood shakily. “I know.”

He crossed to a sealed compartment at the far wall.

There, hidden beneath a carved family sigil, lay a rusted chest.

Inside

A burned journal

A broken pendant

And a single name, inked in blood on a half-ripped page

Lucien Hati.

Silas went still.

Ethan stepped beside him. “Who is that?”

Silas looked up, voice cracking.

“My father’s brother. My… uncle.”

“But he was erased from the records,” Ethan said. “Why?”

Silas’s jaw tightened.

“Because he was the one who poisoned my father.”

Arden’s POV – Red Moon Borders

The scouts brought back word just before dawn.

The summit had failed.

Silas and Ethan had vanished. Loyalists were calling for Ethan’s head.

And worse

A forged decree had reached even the neutral packs.

War was no longer a whisper.

It was a growl at the gates.

Marcus’s POV

He didn’t want to believe it.

He knew his brother. Knew Ethan’s bond was real.

But the proof… the scroll…

Even he felt the doubt start to crack his spine.

Until

A Crescent healer burst into the hall.

“This letter was planted,” she said breathlessly. “I found matching ink and a discarded seal in Myra’s quarters.”

Marcus stood, heart thunderous.

“She forged the execution order?”

The healer nodded.

Marcus turned toward the Council chamber.

“She wanted a war,” he growled. “Let’s give her the fallout.”

Underground

Silas lit the oil lamp with shaking hands.

Ethan gently traced the name Lucien Hati carved into the stone.

And somewhere far above them…

A war horn blew.

Loud. Close.

They were surrounded.

Ethan turned to Silas.

“If we don’t make it”

Silas cut him off with a kiss.

Hard. Real.

“Shut up. We’re making it.”

Then they drew their blades

And faced the rising dark together.

Because truth is a blade

And someone always bleeds for it.

He stood in the center of the moonstone circle barefoot, heart pounding, the silk of his ceremonial robes clinging to skin still marked by battles. He wasn't Alpha tonight. Just a man. In love. Silas stepped into the circle barefoot too. No armor. No mask. Just him beautiful in soft gray, a sash wrapped around his chest like an offering. Their eyes met. And nothing else mattered. Silas’s POV – Under the Moon He’d dreamed of this once. When he still believed in fated mates. Before prophecies. Before knives and chains. Now, standing here, looking at Ethan He didn’t need a myth to tell him what this was. He knew. Ethan held out a single black thread. Silas held a white one. They tied it around each other’s left wrists, binding bone to pulse. It wasn’t magic. It was a choice. Ritual Vow (spoken in mangy languag

You’ll work. Serve. Study.
