I took out my phone to call my boyfriend, Carl. There was no one else I could speak to other than him. It rang a couple of times but went straight to voicemail, no matter how many times I tried to call over and over it just did the same thing.

I was sobbing heavily confused and distorted in the pouring rain.

“Carl, please call me back! Julia is nowhere to be found and they want me to get married in her place. I don’t know what to do!” I shouted into my phone and sent the voicemail. I was crouched in a corner shivering badly with my teeth clattering together while waiting to get a response from him.

Over twenty minutes passed and I didn't get a call back from him. The rain finally stopped so I decided to go over to his house. As I walked down the quiet street, I kept looking behind me to be sure no one was following me and trying to sneak up on me. I had to be extremely cautious if I wanted to stay hidden or try to run away because it wouldn't take my father anything to find me and drag me back to the house.

I hailed a cab and he was reluctant at first to let me in because I was soaking wet from head to toe with water dripping from me.

“I would pay double” I offered only then did he let me in

It was pretty late so there weren’t a lot of people on the street, the usually bubbling street was now eerily quiet, my footsteps on the hard ground as I got out of the car were loud and heavy. Before I walked in through the gate, I noticed his car was parked in the garage which meant he was home.

Why then wasn’t he answering my calls?

Did he fall asleep?

That was unlike him.

I walked to the front door, instead of ringing the doorbell, I put in the door code and let myself in. I didn’t want to disturb his sleep just in case he had fallen asleep.

As I stepped into the living room, the lights were on and so was the television. I also noticed his clothes scattered all over the floor. I picked them up one after the other, carefully folding them and putting them away.

“Carl” I called, waiting to listen for a response but I got nothing.

I headed upstairs and the closer I got to his room I heard the shower running. I let out a little sigh and went into the room. I had a lingering fear that he was avoiding me, it was over a week and I hadn’t heard a single word from him. We were supposed to go on a date but he stood me up and didn’t pick up any of my calls, only to send a text hours later that he was stuck at work.

“Carl” I called again

“Just want to let you know I am here” I softly knocked on the bathroom door, the water stopped running but he didn’t answer

“Are you okay in there?” I asked about to open the door

“Don’t come in!” He suddenly shouted

“We need to talk, it is urgent” I ran my palm through my face

“I had a long night, just leave we will talk tomorrow” he firmly said

“I can’t leave, I have nowhere to go” I immediately said

He was acting really weird and before the thought could sink in I heard something.

“Why is she here I th-”

“Shhh” he hushed shutting off someone

There was someone in there with him. A loud ring filled my ears, my heart started to pump even louder in my chest.

“Carl!” I screamed and pushed the door trying to open it but he was struggling to keep it closed from inside.

“Who is in there with you?”

“No one, just leave”

I knew for a fact I wasn’t stupid and neither was I hearing voices. I heard someone’s voice loud and clear, the worst of it. It was a female voice.

My eyes scanned around the room. That was when I noticed a pink suitcase at the side of his bed, on top of it was a black purse.

He had a whole suitcase in his room!

I was fucking livid.

I kept pushing the door trying to force it open, but he was much stronger than me so it was barely budging.

“You are cheating on me?!” I screamed until my throat hurt “After everything I have done for you, how could you?!”

“You are not going to leave me trapped here like some hoe-” I heard the woman's voice muffled behind the door

“Leave Raven!” Carl shouted

“There is no reason to fear, just let go,” the woman said. I was curious to see who it was. I wanted to see who he cheated on me with

“Listen to her, you fucking coward!” I shouted at the top of my lungs

I pushed the door open one last time and it opened freely almost making me lose my step and trip. I looked up to see my supposed boyfriend standing butt naked in the bathroom.

They were both taking a shower together. Tears welled up in my eyes.

“Happy now?” The woman asked and my heart fell into my stomach.

I knew that voice, the ringing got louder and I couldn’t bring myself to look her in the face.

“Do you feel any more stupid, sister” Her piercing laughter filled my ears

I slowly found the courage to look her in the eyes and everything holding me together crashed all at once.

My sister was also standing beside me in the bathroom stark naked with a sly smile stretching across her lips.
