Krystal POV

"What the hell are you on about?" My mind can't process it properly because of his sudden proposal, which completely confused me.

"Ms. Dawson, be careful what you say. You're in my domain, and cursing is one of the few things I dislike "He responded.

I laughed "Humans are capable of profanity. I need to do that because your proposal surprised me, and believe me, Mr. Miller, I wasn't like the gala women you've met. Whatever your problem with your wife is, it is none of my business and is no longer my problem."

"Take a look, Krystal. Do you not want to change your life and get out of poverty?" He inquired abruptly.

How did he find out about my goal? Is this man following me around without my knowledge, and why is he doing so?

He snapped his finger, causing me to return to reality and look at him.

"What does it mean to you, Mr. Miller? It makes no difference if I want to escape my unhappy life, and you are not required to be concerned about someone like me."

"Yes, you are entirely correct. However, you're the most incredible woman I've met, and I want to help you, so it's either that or being my wife?" He stated this.

I have two alternatives. I have two options from which to choose. Marcus is well-known; he is the city's top billionaire and the wealthiest of the wealthiest.

What if he's the solution I've been looking for? What if he can completely transform my life and assist me in waking up from this miserable existence? What if... Oh no!

I clench my fist because of the frustration that is building up in my shoulder, but not until someone took my hand and made me turn to the man who is already by my side.

How did he get so quickly into my side?

"If you think that, please know that I am not mocking you. I understand that this is difficult to comprehend. But can't you reconsider it and think about what you really want?" He muttered something.

Because his face was so close to mine, I swallowed "I'm not sure if I can trust you... You're famous everywhere, and no one will believe you if you introduce me as your wife... Particularly since I was not born like you..."

"Who said you had to be born the same as me? I was not born like you, but I understand the difficulties you face when you lose hope of living. That is especially true when my wife disappears. She vanished without a trace."

"Consider my offer, Krystal. Your mother has cancer, and I can help you pay for all of her medications as well as help you start over. You can leave your unhappy life, gambler uncle, and old house behind and become the most recent version of yourself "He let go of my hand and handed me the white folder he'd been holding since the beginning.

I stared at it and returned my gaze to him, then carried my bag and folder, which contained my resume and other requirements, and exited the room without saying anything to him.

I walked faster until I reached the stairs, then paused to take a deep breath and sat down. My knees trembled from what had just happened inside that room, his enticing eyes calling my name, and if I didn't stop myself? He's probably happy right now because I'm about to sign those papers.

*Phone rings*

My phone rings, and I have to answer it because it is my mother's husband who is calling. What does this gambler require at this time? Don't tell me he's out of money and wants me to send it again.

"What do you require? I don't have any money with me "I responded without knowing what he desired.

[I don't need your money because I have mine. But what about your useless mother? She's probably going to need it,] he said.

After hearing my mother, I sat properly "What about my mother? What happened to her?"

[Relax! Asking too many questions may cost you a dollar per question.]

"Greedy! You moron, where is my mother?"

[Hey! Keep your filthy mouth shut, lady! I'm glad I was able to get her to the hospital after she collapsed, but the doctor said she needed an emergency surgery. Krystal, your mother's tumor is growing. She is in danger and requires funds for surgery.]

"How much is it? Maybe our savings will come in handy."

[On that note. Your mother shared the savings you've been working on for years with me, which is why I have money to spend.]

What the hell is going on?! Hearing his responses made my blood boil, so I wiped my face. He definitely forced my mother, which is how he gained access to our savings account! Damnit!

[Be fast. You don't have much time,] that's all I get before he cuts the call and abandons me.

How am I going to pay my mother's bills now? F*ck.

Then I recall Marcus's offer to me. So I leapt to my feet and dashed back to the room where I had left him. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see him already leaving.

"Ms. Dawson, you returned!" He muttered something.

"Yes, and I will sign the papers as soon as possible!" I responded.

"Of course, what happen? Why are you rushing here?"

I entered the room and shut the door, then grabbed his collar and kissed him without hesitation.

"Do I pass the test?" I asked, parting my hair.

"What kind of test?"

What the heck?

"Wait, there isn't a test?"

"No. You only need to sign these papers. But your kiss will fit "He replied with a smile.

I felt humiliated after doing that! Ugh! Why did I even thought of that kiss?! Am I insane already?

"So?" He handed me a pen and the documents.

I sighed out. Krystal, this is it. If you sign this paper and accept his offer, you must adjust to your new life. That way, you'll have the life you've always wanted...

I signed it after remembering my mother, and then returned the documents to him.

"Welcome home, my wife," he said. It tickles my sleeping heart, which is not pleasant...
