Chapter 121

Ben’s point of view

The drive back to the bunker is a painful and sombre one. Laila has managed to get my nose to stop bleeding, but I’m not going to lie; my ribs hurt like a bitch; Laila gives my hand a little squeeze as she asks me, “Are you doing okay?”

I nod and reply, “Yeah…I’ll live.”

“I can give you some pain meds?” she says, and I shake my head as I say, “No...I’m good.”

I want to have a clear head. I have to find Mishka, and I know what that monster is capable of; I need to know that she’s okay.

The few minute's drive to the bunker seems to last a lifetime, but we finally pull into the underground parking. Zane and Maddox help me out of the car before we make our way to the medical room.

Adam is already waiting for us, and Laila looks at him as she says, I’ll stitch his head while you check him over, Adam” He nods, and Laila turns back to me, “I need to put a couple of stitches in your head, Ben…I’m just going to numb it first.”
