Chapter 9

He pulled the rental car over.

My eyes skimmed the place. There was Chipotle, Subways, Forever 21, Gucci, an arcade place, Nike, and lot more.

In my sight, a Ferrari pulled up. A tall and intimidating guy exited his car. I couldn't care any less as I went back to Renz.

"What are we doing here?" I look back at him.

He turned off the car engine before unlocking his door. He got out and slammed the door, before walking towards mine, and he gently opened it for me.

"We," He slammed the door shut and locked it. "...are gonna have fun."

I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. Whether he was talking about us going shopping, eating or trying on shoes. None of them were my thing. My things were running away from the police and doing graffiti.

"You wanna like, go shopping?" I asked confused. He stopped for a moment before laughing.

"What? No. We're going to do something that doesn't involve shopping or eating, nor trying on shoes." he replied.

I frowned in confusion. What was he talking about then? Is he trying to tell me to steal clothes?

As if he read my mind he rolled his eyes and talked. "No. We're not doing something illegal."

My eyes skimmed through the places one more time, before I got what he was saying. I turned my focus back on him. "The arcade?"

He didn't reply. All he did was take my wrist in his hand and dragged me to the arcade.

I didn't even notice he already had my backpack on, on his back.

The entrance door was huge. He let go of my hand and opened the door for me, as he jokingly bowed his head. I chuckled.

As soon as we were inside, loud music and people talking hit our ears. Some people were making out on the side, some were actually playing the arcade machines, and some were laughing over the most stupidest thing.

The whole place was filled with people. My eyes were completely mesmerized by the flashing of the lights.

I felt him nudged my shoulder before screaming over the loud music. "I'm gonna get coins, okay?" I just nodded in response.

I walked to the Pac man arcade machine. My fingers skimmed on the surface of the game. I played with the few buttons before turning around, looking for Renz.

To my suprise, I saw the Jonah standing there, speaking to Renz.

They were both laughing, as Renz walked towards where I was.

He's changed, I noticed. His brown buzz cut from junior high school is now a fluffy blonde one. His once chubby body is now average. He still looks good.

Renz's eyes found me as he waved at me eagerly. "Hey." he greeted.

When they both reached me, Jonah gave a smile. A warm smile. He looks so much happier than before.

"Mitch." he spoke softly.

Renz's expression changed from being 'look I made a new friend!' to a confused one.

"Jonah." I gave him a small nod.

Renz glanced back and forth between me and Jonah before speaking up. "You two know each other?" he asked.

Jonah Wells. My ex-boyfriend. The only reason why I dated Jonah was because he was the only person that made me smile despite everything my parents were going through.

We became friends first. He would casually flirt with me and jokingly ask me on a date. He would bring me these beautiful tulips every time he sees me cry about my parents.

Then one night, he just randomly kissed me in the pouring rain when we were having a huge argument about why he was avoiding me. He said it was because he was catching feelings.

He was very insecure to ask me because he thought he wasn't good enough for me, since he was extremely insecure about his fats and weight. Now he's kind of thin.

"Yeah. We're exes." Jonah spoke for the both of us.

Renz slowly nodded in understanding.

The three of us just awkwardly glanced at each other from time to time, standing there.

"Well, gotta get going now. Good seeing you, Mitch." he spoke, walking away, while I just gave a quick nod.

I turned my gaze back to the pac man machine. "Coins?" I didn't look at Renz as I held my hands opened, waiting for him to hands some.

When I felt the cold metal hit my palm, I took some and placed it inside the machine as I clicked start.

"That was your ex?" he whisper yelled at me, leaning closer to my ears.

"Yes, dingus." I chuckled. My hands aggressively play with the controller.

"Did anyone ever tell you, you were doing a charity work?" he asked, leaning against the pac man machine. "Not that looks matters. But I'm just saying."

Plenty of people told me that. They tried to convince me to break up with Jonah since they thought Jonah's not good-looking.

But that's one of the reasons why Iiked Jonah. I didn't liked him for his looks. I liked him for what he was.

But I liked him as a friend. Nothing more. I guess I was blinded with our friendship to realize that I didn't really like him romantically.

"Plenty did. Anyways, stop distracting me." I frowned as I stared at the screen. The ghosts were trying to corner me.

When a fruit finally showed up after a few seconds, I angrily moved the controller to get it. Two ghosts were behind me, trying to get me.

After a few tiring minutes of playing aggressively, I ran out of lives. Tickets came out and I picked it up and folded it, putting it inside of my pocket.

"Man, that was a good game." Renz smiled at me. "Let's play that." I didn't have time to look at what he was pointing at because the next thing I know I was already infront of a two player basketball game.
